Located on the water. Aquarium is fairly reasonably priced. No lines making it to easy to buy tickets, you can purchase online tickets as well. They have awesome themed rooms you walk through which is the coolest experience. Lot of different species. Overall a great and wonderful experience read more

Istanbul Akvaryum is Istanbul's aquarium. This is a very large facility that, as it's name implies, presents a large selection of sea life and other life forms for your viewing pleasure. This is a very large facility. They have several sizable aquariums, home to an untold number of large fish, as well as smaller aquariums, housed throughout the facility, presenting all kinds of sea life. They also have a penguin enclosure. Though personally, I am against restricting those aquatic birds to facilities such as this. Nonetheless, they seem to do a good job of providing them with a livable home. I actually came to this aquarium by accident, when a taxi driver took my wife and I to the wrong location. But, as we were already here, we decided to check it out, and it was impressive. You can spend a lot of time here, if that is what you want to do. There are many things to see and a lot of time can be spent studying the fish and other sea life as they glide through the water. FYI: This facility is a bit out of the way from central Istanbul. Meaning, it will take you some time to get here. But, once here, you may have a truly enjoyable experience. Also, this aquarium is connect to a large shopping mall. So, if that is your choice, you easily go shopping once you have completed your Istanbul Akvaryum experience. read more

The Akvaryum is located within 20 minutes of Ataturk Airport so if you have a layover as I did its a great place to spend an afternoon. It costs about 40 dollars return for taxi fare and the entrance fee is about 18 dollars. It is nicely laid out with various themes and quite descriptive regarding both the species and marine history. It is part of a large modern complex of shops, boutiques and eateries and there is a beautiful seaside walkway in back which is totally relaxing. It was certainly worth the price. read more

The Istanbul Aquarium exceeded every expectation and ended up being one of the most enjoyable attractions we visited in Turkey. This place is absolutely massive, and you can easily spend several hours exploring the incredible exhibits and marine life from around the world. What really sets it apart is how immersive the experience is. The displays are beautifully designed, educational, and incredibly well-maintained. The highlight for me was the Amazon Rainforest section, which felt like stepping into an entirely different world. The lush vegetation, exotic animals, and realistic environment make it so much more than just a traditional aquarium. Beyond the aquarium itself, the location is fantastic. It's right on the water with beautiful seaside views and connected to a huge shopping mall filled with stores, cafés, and restaurants. After spending the day exploring the exhibits, it was the perfect place to grab a meal and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, the Istanbul Aquarium is absolutely worth visiting. It's modern, impressive, and packed with amazing experiences from start to finish. One of the best attractions in Istanbul and an easy five stars. read more
