No, I don't go around looking for just the buffets when I'm in a new place. I might happen to include some if they look appetizing and seem to enjoy a good reputation. That said, I did go to this restaurant, Istanbul Grilli, while in this city on a stopover. (I ate at a restaurant of another ethnicity using a menu the other night I was here.) They did have a buffet going when I visited. This part of the globe has really short days during the colder months and really long days during the warmer months. Thus, it was dusk when I arrived here to eat, so I don't recall if it was the end of the lunch buffet or the beginning of a dinner buffet, if such a thing even exists. There is also a menu to order from. At Istanbul Grilli, there seem to be two major serving stations: the one toward the left and further back seems to have the meats, chicken, and main dishes and the one to the right and closer to the front seems to have the salads, fruits and vegetables, and some desserts. There is also an area where things like coffee and tea get put together. Some food selections were 3 star items and some things were 4 star offerings. It was good, but it didn't rock my world. (That's probably because I keep trying to like Turkish food as much as I like Greek food.) I don't believe they had kunefe, which I really like, but they had something like baklava. The interior is clean. It's on a major street close to the center, so there are big windows all around and the lighting is good. The service leaned amicable. The price is a good value and fair for this slightly more expensive country. It's also easy to get here, being close to Helsinki's center. The Metro seems to weave across the city and surroundings in an east-west manner, so it won't get you close enough. However, one can easily hop on just one tram or bus and/or walk to reach this restaurant. These latter observations kick up Istanbul Grilli to a solid 4 stars. In addition to that, the restaurant is popular and one will see customers who are locals, probable expats, tourists, and people of Turkish and Middle Eastern extraction. If such a diverse clientele frequents this eatery, that is also indicative that it's a worthwhile stop. read more

A friend and I had an excellent meal here! After much wandering, we came across this Turkish grill. They had a great menu, so we stopped in. I loved that with our meat order, we got to go up to the buffet and get tons of salads, sides, and soup. I had the lamb chops, and they were delicious. The sides were also great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I would say very average food. The service was very nice though. The salad bar was reasonably good -- especially the baba ghanoush. The Adana Kebab was okay and the Iskendar kebab had too much sauce on it. Not bad, not great. read more

Found this place last year 2017, when visiting my hometown Helsinki. Decided to treat my friend to lunch. Again, it was an awesome experience. Buffet selection was plentiful, and price of lunch 10. -Euros ($12.00) was well worth while. I loved all the vegetables. Baked chicken and the beef in a very tasty sauce was sooooo gooood. Food was not too spicy but yet flavorful.The best thing was that there was no pork in any of the foods. The lunch was served with your choice of coffee. I enjoyed cup of cappuccino from a machine, so smooth and good. Also Turkish type of pastry was included. Since this this was a lunch buffet, so the server/cashier only filled up our water pitcher, but he answered my questions in a friendly manner. Also it was nice that we were able to sit a very long time and to enjoy our meals. Overall the service was very good. I will definitely go back again and recommend this place to all my friends. read more

I have visited today this place at Buffet time. The food was really good especially the Salads. I have never seen this variety of food and salad in this Price (10 €) in Finland. I will definitely go again if i get a chance. Good work Guys..! read more

Nice atmosphere, bright and airy decor. They have a lunch buffet with a lot of variety. Great for meat lovers, with good kebab meat amongst other tasty treats. Went here for dinner while staying in Helsinki on my own. The food was great, I had the hummus starter and the imam fainted, which was nicely presented and delicious. Not a very authentic Turkish atmosphere, but still nicely furnished and clean. I have to take a star off for the table service - there was only one person on the waitstaff, and she seemed overloaded by the six or so other groups. I don't want to blame her, but the service was incredibly slow. Even after making it clear I was ready to go, it took her 20 minutes to bring the bill. I know dining in Helsinki is a slow and relaxed affair, but I did tell her I had somewhere to be. Overall I do recommend it, the food is worth the wait. Probably best for lunch, though it does get busy. read more

Wow! You can't beat the quality for this price! 10€ buffet - food was fresh and tasty, lots to choose from, both hot and cold food items.
