The French fries are seasoned well and crispy. Fried tofu is delicious due to how hot and flakey the tempura batter and paired with the soft silkiness of the tofu. I also love the eel avocado hand rolls but it can be hit or miss with sometimes having sharp small bones, so eat with caution! For dessert my husband loves the ice cream. Parking was pretty easy. Service was very quick and efficient, which I liked. Fyi, they only offer shashimi during dinner and on weekends. Although weekday lunch is significantly cheaper, the fanciest option is nigiri on that menu. We ordered lots and lots of sashimi, specifically salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and mackerel. Unlike other AYCE places, there's no limit to ordering anything for any round, so go crazy (at your own risk). I really liked the salmon and yellowtail. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the tuna. I thought it was too tough in consistency wasn't as buttery as I was hoping. Appetizers were good; we ordered 1 of every appetizer pictured on the menu. Rolls were solid. Enjoyed the variety. I do like that nigori and sashimi are both included in this price. The reason i did not give it 5 stars was just some of fish just tasted like it just has been defrosted in the back. Instead of tasting fresh you can taste the fish saturated with water weight. The interior is pretty nice. It's all hard wood everywhere and looks like the inside of a Japanese dojo. Been looking for a new AYCE spot in the region and Itacho did not disappoint! I love Little Sakana and go often so I was curious how this place was different - I think you get jus different selections of rolls and apps here + a few more extras that we loved. The service was good, our particular server was sooooo nice and fun and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant is nice and big, a really open space that feels super casual and modern. Whoever did the playlist that did was doing the damn thing, I rapping bars as much as I was eating the sushi! Overall i'd say 8/10 spot, as I do feel like som flavors could have been better and the delivery of the dishes felt kind of chaotic (albeit fast!). Since this is AYCE, I wasn't expecting top tier sushi, but I was hopeful it would still be at least decent. Unfortunately, the food was pretty mid overall. The sides sounded exciting on the menu but ended up being disappointing. I ordered the chicken thigh yakitori and it was slimy and full of fat. The biggest letdown was the tonkotsu ramen. The broth honestly tasted like dish water. I took one sip and immediately pushed it to the side. The only things I genuinely enjoyed were the seared salmon and the fact that they offered dessert options. Staff was okay and the restaurant itself is very large and spacious, which I can see being nice for bigger groups. Tried this last night after craving all you can eat sushi for a while now. The quality on everything is pretty well above what you would normally see for all you can eat. Nigiri portions were big and meaty and a lot of the rolls came in sets of 5 instead of 8 so we could try more! The Wagyu nigiri was great and we loved the demon roll. It was pretty busy too but had tables open. Sweet: Good comparable price for what's included. We enjoyed most of the items that we tried. All the sushi items were fresh except for the sweet shrimp. My favorites were probably the hand-rolls and nigiri. I like how they have teppanyaki as well so if you don't want to have sushi they have a variety of options to choose from. For the most part the food comes out at a decent pace. Sour: The server wasn't the greatest. She was quite didn't say much even just came up at times to take our orders but didn't acknowledge us while taking our order. Which was a bit odd. Didn't even apologize when our exact order was given to the table behind us and she had to order it again. We did enjoy everything we tried except for the sweet shrimp and chicken meatball. The sweet shrimp was extremely tiny almost could've missed it on the plate. But besides the size of it as it's not a big deal of the size it was not very fresh. The chicken meatball had a very weird taste didn't even attempt to finish it. The sushi rolls weren't much of an interest to me, most of them have cream cheese inside. Sadly, I have to rate this place low. The vibe was awesome but I got some food poisoning and I am still suffering. We decided to grab a bite after visiting the car dealer next door and picking up my car from service. The place was not packed and had maybe 10 customers on Friday at 5:30p. We went for the All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi Platinum (Standard) for $43. The Ultra (Premium) AYCE includes about 5 or 6 choice Nigiri options. They have rules that you cannot have any leftovers, or you will be charged by the piece. The AYCE Standard Menu spans so many options and has a front and back page of choices from Apps to Ramen, and of course, Sushi. We ordered so many things to try so it's hard to pinpoint what got me sick. I do recall during a brief dining moment that I tasted something that was foul or not right when I bit into my "Itacho Yumi Roll". I mentioned to my Husband that something tasted rotten or spoiled in my first 2 bites. I brushed it off then continued our time dining. We ordered and ate: Teppanyaki (Hibachi) Chicken, Teppanyaki (Hibachi) Steak, Itacho Yumi Roll, Coronado Bridge Roll, Sweetheart Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Deep Fried California Roll, Appetizer Baked Jumbo Shrimp (I did not enjoy this dish), and the list goes on. I did also have an experience where my serving of Teppanyaki Chicken tasted like kitchen/grill cleaner during this experience. Our server was awesome. We were a table of 9 and they were out of uni so we didn't get to do the upgraded package of the premium items. Our wasabi and ginger came a little later with our meal. We got the edamame, cucumber salad, gyoza, crab Rangoons, lemon roll, pink lady roll, green mountain roll, salmon, haha tuna, yellowtail, pepper tuna sashimi, baby octopus, unagi nigiri, filet, chicken, shrimp, veggies, and noodles. Everything was pretty good and there's something for everyone. Pretty much guaranteed to be full. Nice that you can get a birthday sake bomb for your birthday and that they help celebrate. Parking 5/5 -Huge parking lot with many spots available Service 5/5 -I have been to Itacho three times in total during busy and unbusy hours and I have always received great service from both host and waitstaff. Our server for this visit was so attentive and came to the table every time he noticed we were almost done with our round of food and he even brought a new glass of water unprompted because he noticed I was almost done with my water. Food 5/5 -the ayce menu for each price tier is accurately designed, I think for most people, the best bang for the bucks is the $29 Monday-Thursday before 4pm deal. The carpaccios(must try amazing salmon!) alone will make your money back compared to what you would spend at a normal sushi restaurant. If you do upgrade to the platinum, I strongly recommend the chicken thigh yakitori(so juicy and fatty and umami) and popcorn oysters(so fresh). I also love that their ramen comes in such a small bowl that you can sample the taste without being so full after eating and their ramen is actually good quality! Last but definitely not least...you HAVE TO TRY THE LUCKY BUDDHA ROLL...it makes no sense why it's so good bc the ingredients are so simple and this is coming from a cream cheese in sushi hater...but it's one of the best sushi rolls I've tried in my LIFE Ambiance 5/5 -There's two dining areas and each with a lot of tables and booths, music playing in the background, TVs and projector screens in different areas as well. I made a last minute decision to try Itacho AYCE sushi over KBBQ one night and I'm glad I did. I've been a frequent customer at Little Sakana in Mira Mesa for AYCE sushi, but I was very interested in trying this place because of their all-you-can eat sashimi which is hard to come by! This restaurant is located in a large plaza and parking is considered easy. You can join the waitlist on Yelp before arriving as well which is always welcomed. My party of three arrived on Sunday at 5 PM with no reservation and were seated right away. The ambiance of the place is nice and spacious, there were large screen TVs next to the sushi bar. Lots of seating for small and large parties. Weekend AYCE price was $42.99 for the platinum level. I didn't feel that the Ultra was worth it. Onto the food - overall there's a wide range of variety for an AYCE location from raw and cooked appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, handrolls and specialty rolls. I love that they also provide yakitori and teppanyaki, a great choice if you want to mix it up between just raw fish and cooked meats. My favorite dishes were the salmon sashimi and the steak teppanyaki. I will say that the tuna, yellowtail and escolar slices of sashimi were weak - poorly cut, and fish wasn't as fresh. The tuna especially had an odd texture - like tasteless jellied fish. For nigiri, the rice was a bit on the drier side and the yakitori was too sweet for me personally. I also ordered 20 pieces of salmon for each nigiri plate but was shorted about 5-7 slices per plate. A bit disappointing. All that to say, I still left Itacho happy and it definitely satisfied my sushi craving. I would give this place a try, it's not a bad contender for AYCE sushi in SD. read more

I've been wanting to try this all-you-can-eat sushi, and this spot is great because it has a parking lot. Just a heads-up, it gets packed around dinner, and if you have a big car, finding a spot can be tricky. Now, onto the food: I really appreciate that the menu has pictures, which is super helpful! Also, there are a couple of rolls at the end of the menu that don't have pictures, like the spider roll or the Vegas roll. I'm so bummed I missed those because they were at the bottom! -Hand rolls were perfectly sized and not too heavy on rice, and there seemed to be a good variety. Just a heads-up, the spicy crab was totally not spicy at all. (Anything labeled spicy was definitely not spicy, which is a downside if you're craving something hot.) -Sushi rolls are actually 5 to 8 pieces, which is huge, so just be careful if you're ordering a bunch! They're so filling. Everything seemed to be freshly made. The kitchen and back were super busy, and dishes were brought out frequently. The amazing tuna roll was probably my favorite out of what we tried today because it's at least fresh tuna with some light pepper on it. There was a tuna mango appetizer on the menu, which is essentially chopped up tuna with small mango bites and then a spicy seasoning similar to a Tajin. It's more on the sweeter side than savory. I would definitely try it once, but it's not going to be for everyone. Also, the gyoza come out in threes on a small plate. You can get spicy mayo on the side. The only downside was the spicy edamame wasn't what I had anticipated. Usually, I would assume it would come with some garlic and spicy sauce, but it was a bit of a letdown with just a sprinkle of Togashi spice. I do wish they had more whole tuna rolls available. Dessert options are limited with small cups of your classic ice cream, cream flavors or fried cheese cheesecake and regular cheesecake. The service is quick to bring the rolls and appetizers around. There are tons of servers, and they were pretty attentive to filling water and checking in on you for more food. Everyone is super friendly. The price is excellent if you're coming with an appetite. Nigiri is also an option, but it comes out one piece at a time, so you can order a couple, but they'll space it out if you order too many at once. Soda/ and sake are not included in the price. If you're thinking this is just another all-you-can-eat sushi spot, you'd be wrong. Itacho Sushi seriously stands out. First off, everything is made to order. This is not one of those buffet-style places where sushi sits around getting sad. Every roll and hand roll came out fresh, and you can taste the difference immediately. The pricing is actually very reasonable for what you get. The lunch premium buffet is $29.99 (from opening to 4 p.m.), which is a great deal. After 4 p.m., it switches to the dinner menu with Platinum at $42.99 and Ultra at $55.99, depending on how much variety you want. For the quality and freshness, it's absolutely worth it. A couple of standouts: the baked scallop roll was so good we ordered it multiple times, and the California hand roll was hands down the best. Simple, fresh, and done right. Even the extras are fair. Fountain drinks are only $1.99 with free refills. They also offer Japanese beer and sake (not included in the buffet), which is a nice upgrade option. Service is what really pushed this place over the top. We came on March 28, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. with a reservation, and although I didn't catch the names of our server or the gentleman who taught us the sake bomb chant, they both deserve recognition.
