Ok, so I have had the bread before at a restaurant and it is good. I thought I would stop by the bakery and pick some up. When, I did the person working that day informed me that the bread is not ready usually by 12:30 PM and that the bakery is closed by 1:30 PM. I decided that I would come back another day at the proper time. In the weeks following my first visit I stopped by several times between 12:30 - 1:00 PM with no luck. Either the bread would not be ready for hours more, or the store was closed. Finally on the 5th time I came by at 1:00 PM and the Owner told me the bread would not be ready for another hour or two. I explained to him that I am giving up trying at this point because this was the 5th time I stopped by without being able to acquire a loaf a bread. The Owner started getting irate and explained that the oven is old and the cooking time is beyond his control and he really didn't care if I patronized his store. I understand this this is a 100 year old bakery with a coal fired oven but I cannot believe that the business cannot gauge the cooking time. The bottom line is the father has turned over the business to a younger member of his family who seems to not have the same work ethic or care for the customer base. This week it was in the newspaper that the bakery is now for sale. Not a surprise to me. read more

First time getting the Italian bread today and absolutely love it! Old school heavy loaf of bread that was exactly what I was looking for.

Drove down North Railroad Street and said OMG! Saw The building itself and said OMG! I walked inside and said OMG! Brought two loafs for me and my neighbor, when we tasted the bread we both said OMG! They finally got around to putting a new sign up after all these years. If you are driving down rt309 south it's on the other side of the tracks. Go on in, buy a loaf and you will say OMG! Was back in Pennsylvania last month and just had to stop for Italian bread from Padora's. Been eating it since I was a kid (now 81). Bought 5-loves to take back to Florida with me, wrapped in plastic to keep fresh, then frozen when I got home. Not as good as bakery fresh, but miles better than any other Italian bread on the market, anywhere. I lightly toast it which restores the crusty texture. Still have 2-loves frozen. Can it be shipped to me? read more

Best bread for all uses! We make regular trips all the way from Drums to buy it. There's nothing like it on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

This is one of the oldest places in the area. The building is falling down, the coal is piled up outside, and the inside is dirty. I used to have a garage with a dirt floor that was cleaner than this place but the bread will keep you coming back. If you want to see living history, visit this place. Padora knows bread.... Get there around 11:30 when it sratrs coming out of the oven.. A must have if you are in the area.

My aunts and uncles have told me about this place for years and I finally was shown where it is....my suggestion would be to park somewhere close by, perhaps hear the train station and walk to it. I got there down a single lane road, but parking is almost nonexistent. Arrived too early to get bread but my family tells me it is the best you will ever eat! Best bread ever. Rock hard and delicious with anything. Classic italian bread, could be cheaper though.
