Its actually a 3.5, but not yet a 4.
This is a new permanent cafe that has recently opened near Lancaster Gate station end of Hyde Park (Near the Italian Gardens). There used to be a coffee cart in this area during summer, but this is finally a full blown cafe that has thrown open its doors.
They have indoor & outdoor seating. The first couple of times I went here, I just picked up a coffee to takeaway. (Most convenient location to pick up a coffee near Lancaster Gate station, especially if you are headed into the park) The coffee was good, but I was waiting to try out the food before I wrote a review of the place.
They have salads and sandwiches for lunch and even have a breakfast menu. I tried the chicken mayonnaise foccacia sandwich which was quite good. Soft tasty bread with a nice robust filling. My friend had the vegetarian version and quite liked that too. Her daughter ad the vegetarian toastie and was happy with it. they also rated it a 3.5, which is quite good for a small cafe inside a park.
Everything tasted fresh and that's a big plus point. Their prices are also lower than the Lido Bar & Cafe. Slightly lower than the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen I suspect (but the Serpentine has a larger menu)
Very excited to have this cafe open up in this area. It closes up quite early, so its more of a breakfast & lunch place, but you could also manage an early evening snack.
The place is neat & clean, but I find their sugar table to be messed up more often than not as it also has a large jar of complimentary water and indiscriminate usage messes this area up faster than the staff can keep it clean.
