Love this place! I love their pizza, eggplant rolls and salads. Their food is always fresh and delicious. I have eaten here, ordered to go and gotten delivery. I highly recommend this place!

Lots of options and huge portion sizes. Tried a variety of the appetizers which were all flavorful. Some of the food was cold by the time it got to us. The garlic knots, fried mozzarella and calamari were all cold. The service was good as they made sure our wine glasses were never empty. The pizza was the best thing we tried. Great combination of meats of veggies

    Chicken "Alfredo"

Food was bad. As you can see in my pic I ordered the chicken Alfredo. Guess the sauce wasn't included. There was some at the bottom of the dish but no where near enough to coat the pasta and it had no flavor. Basically got a pound of cocked penne pasta with some chicken.

Headed out to this restaraunt for a Sunday lunch for a birthday party. We were a party of 11 and no one had been here before. I was surprised at how large the inside of the restaraunt was. However, it was not very full given the size. It appeared to be a place where larger parties like to dine- very laid back and casual. We started off rough as we were seated for about 20 minutes before getting menus but the waitress quickly apologized and stated they are usually left on the table. She dropped off bread & our drinks to start. The menu has a lot of options (more than listed on their website). We ordered mozz squares, eggplant rollatini, calamari, chicken tenders & Bruschetta to start. Everything was very tasty- the eggplant was a little cold but the taste was still good and the portions were all very large. The bruschetta was actually the size of a pizza which caught us all off guard but there were tons of leftovers! For dinner I ordered the chicken picatta with spinach instead of pasta- the waitress was very accommodating for substitutes. It wasn't the best that I have ever had but it wasn't bad. The portions again- HUGE! We literally had about 12 togo boxes between all of us. The family had cheesecake for dessert so that we could sing happy birthday and everyone seemed to like it. For a group of 11 we were there for about 2 hours which seems normal- there was no rush and a very lax atmosphere to the place. I would likely go back- the bar looked like it had great potential but it was empty. Maybe happy hour is a little more enticing!

The most amazing penne a la vodka! Enough for four people.

The Italian Pavilion has quickly become our family's go to stop on the drive back from NYC. The atmosphere is inviting and the food is amazing! I have only had the chicken parmigiana and penne a la vodka on multiple occasions and both dishes are delicious. You will never leave hungry as the portions are enough for at least two people (which makes it perfect for sharing!) I highly recommend coming here!

Old school, no frills neighborhood favorite that I was glad to get to try. We arrived around 4pm and while the place was pretty filled, there was only a few minute wait. As others mentioned, there is no one to greet you at the entrance or tell you to write your name on the waitlist...so be sure to do that. Paper tacked on the wall. We received menus right away but it did take some time for our order to be taken. Clams casino, eggplant grinder, small cheese, and medium sausage ( crumbled), onions and peppers. Fresh brew iced tea, unsweetened. Our dishes did take some time to get to the table. Service was top notch! Thank you Coleen! She knew her stuff and gladly answered all our questions with a sincere smile. The clams casino dish was fresh, full of flavor and texture, and probably one of the best I have ever had. Really. The house made bread was incredible. The eggplant grinder was magnificent! Both pizzas were to our liking and tasted even better heated up the next day. Crowds were pouring in as we were finishing up, with a line outside. Restrooms clean, place very busy, and small parking lot. I would definitely visit again.

12.19.25 They only have take out, to go orders here…read more I'm a little torn & conflicted with this review. I've been here a handful of times and they're a little inconsistent. The pizza is good and consistent though. It's not awesome like it is at their West Haven store, but it's good. Good flavors & toppings. They do make their own sausage for those meatlovers out there. Where i fall flat are with their meatball parm grinders. In my opinion they're nowhere as good at the pizzas. They do fall short with their grinders. I keep trying them to try and end up with a better result than the previous time but it hasn't happened. So I'll stick to their pizzas. The last time the meatball parm was barely warm. It cooled off or they didn't warm it enough. The pic shows the mozzarella cheese has cooled. The pic was taken as soon as I got in the car to leave. "We all know our cameras eat first." The flavor isn't really there either with their meatballs. Other than that, the flavor with their pizzas are good. Tasty cheese and sausage. Don't forget the fox on park birch beer though. It's a must. Crisp & refreshing. The store inside is very small. It is very clean though. They only have medium 14" pizzas. I tried for a small and was told only the medium. That's totally fine. No issues with that. Service is fine whenever I'm there. What is don't like is that you don't get a printed receipt. Only text or email it to you. I don't go for that. I need to check my receipts when I eat out. You never know. And speaking of never knowing. Most recent visit, I was surprised how one meatball parm grinder and one sausage pizza came to $39 and change. But i shrugged it off and paid. Made sure i grabbed to go menu to check price. I went down the street and pulled over to do the bath with their menu. What I came up with is they charged me for an additional topping. Not cool. Not good. I called them to mention what happened. They made good though. I explained who I was, that i just left. Gave them my name. They checked. They realized and said I'd receive a credit in a few days. Thankfully they were correct. I did see that charge go back on my credit card as a credit. Happy that they're trustworthy, which they are.

There is also a back area of the establishment where you can dine, and it looks like a library with various books, and customers can buy the books from the bookshelf. As I entered the establishment, I was greeted and seated right away. I ordered a pizza with half pepperoni. The pizza came out in about fifteen to twenty minutes. The pizza looked like New Haven-style pizza, and it was delicious. The crust was crispy, and the pizza tasted fresh. The sauce had great flavor and was well-seasoned. The pepperoni was crispy, and the Basil significantly enhanced the pizza flavor by adding a fresh, aromatic, and slightly sweet element that complemented the other ingredients. Also, the bright, somewhat peppery taste cuts through the richness of the cheese and sauce, creating a balanced and refreshing taste experience. Oh my goodness, the 4.9 out of 5 didn't lie. Out of 5, we give them a 7. Super cute, uber clean was our initial impression. Emily was behind the bar and quickly welcomed us in. We were their first customers as it had just opened. We told her about Taco Central being closed, no idea why and that this was our first time in. She was so friendly and explained pretty much everything about Retro, from it being family owned and run to what makes it special with recommendations and customer favorites. Her Dad is the owner, Gary and we quickly met him. He shared some history of the area, his background and really made us feel special, but what is special is the crazy delicious pizza we enjoyed. Probably the best pie we have had in the NE. Which is saying a lot. It's New Haven style pizza at its absolute finest. The dough, the crust, the San Marzano sauce (to die for), coupled with the cheese, and toppings. We built our own. Sausage (which he makes himself), black olives, mushrooms, hot oil, jalapeños omg!!!! The pie was so delicious. A tip, when your pizza comes out, let it sit a minute or two before grabbing a slice to let it jive together. They offer oregano, red pepper flakes, and Parmesan cheese to add. It's not needed but was so appreciated. They have apx 3 TVs to catch a game as well as tables. The ambiance is casual, retro and fun. Great date night, family friendly and welcoming. There truly wasn't one thing missing. Plus, they offer great wine choices in six or nine ounce pours at reasonable prices. But unlike so many restaurants, they have lovely long stemmed wine glasses. Great selection of beer, including local craft beers on tap and full bar. Go with complete confidence. I don't know if they have parking behind the restaurant as we parked directly in front street side.
