They have everything I want in an exercise facility including free assistance designing a workout program that is suited to your goals and preferences. Over the years I've worked out at gyms all over the country - Gold's, Anytime Fitness, LA Fitness and independent gyms, and this YMCA facility compares favorably with the best of them. Plus, it's nonprofit, so any proceeds they make subsidize low income users and help send kids to summer camp. The facilities are clean and well maintained. I was impressed with their aerobic theater where a feature film is screened in a darkened, air conditioned theater with tiers of machines including treadmills, ellipticals and exercycles - something I'll give a try when I want a casual hour of aerobics. I also like their locker rooms - lots of lockers, a steam room, spacious showers, and they even provide a free towel. (I also appreciate them supplying sweat towels so that you don't follow onto an exercise machine with drops of a previous user's sweat.) The onsite restaurant is a nice touch with a variety of healthy foods and beverages that any health-conscious person will appreciate.

My daughter really wanted to paly soccer this spring and we did not sign up initially as she was trying out for her school team. Well, she did not make it and of course we missed sign ups- by 1 month (insert bad mommy for not planning). I called all the local programs, clubs and the Y. The YMCA was the only one willing to let her sign up late and play- and they were able to place her on a team she has been with for years!! The sports director was super understanding, replied promptly to my emails and they just made our spring! This right here is why we are Y members and participate in all their programs!
