Just down the street is a recreation of a ship that supposedly completed the first trip around the world so going the extra mile coming down to this neighborhood is definitely worth the trip to experience a different side of Seville. I sheepishly confessed that searching for "dulces de convento" sweets made by Spanish nuns was my inspiration to travel here! Monasteries have monks brewing beer, but nuns in convents baking sweets from ancient recipes seems much more divine! The Cordiales are shaped like delicious little dumplings of almond flour and lemon. We ate the whole box of Cordiales today and plan to return tomorrow. We also bought a bag of magdalenas, sugar-topped little cakes scented with orange for tomorrow's breakfast.
