Good afternoon, I was in your store yesterday exchanging a gift that my daughter bought for me. My daughter knows that I love this store and she thought she'd find me something nice for me here. Well, she's a young adult and didn't know that some products need to be checked prior to purchase. She bought me some of my favorite laundry soap (Tyler, high maintenance) The container was opened when she gave it to me as a gift on Christmas. I told her I'd go exchange it because she was headed out of town. When I went to The Ivy cottage a lady named Carmen was helping me and was very rude to me about me needing to exchange it. Making me feel as though I used it first then trying to return it....she didn't listen to me, she was very rude and short with me....I am extremely insulted by her attitude and I will no longer be shopping here. My younger son also found me a sweet gift from here (a birthstone necklace) and it broke while I was wearing it for the first time. So I just wanted to exchange it and get the exact same necklace! (just not broken) I can't believe someone can treat a customer like she did, especially during this amazing Christmas season. Shame on her. I don't know her "title" but she shouldn't be working in the front of the store working with customers. Carmen, I hope you take a look in the mirror and see that it's not okay to treat people with such disrespect. I also overheard you speaking about me to the other lady working at the time...I guess you thought I left after my transaction. I'm sorry you felt offended by my need to exchange. My friend and I have been all over Midland just checking out all of the little stores we pass on a daily basis so today we went to the Ivy Cottage. I personally loved all of there decorations and all of there stuff it was such an adorable place I just wish I would have felt more welcome when we walked in I felt uncomfortable the whole time. It was a very unwelcoming environment I felt like the ladies at the counter had a forced smile and did not want to service us at all. Hoping for a better experience when we return. read more

I have always loved going to Ivy Cottage. Unfortunately the previous account is accurate. I have lived in Midland since 1945. I have watched Midland grow. I took my brother to The Community Theater - not sure if that was the theaters name then-to see Aladdin. It was great, just like magic. I remember where all the stores were. I love Midland and I love all the little shops. Eventually a business will only be as good as what is put into it. I think if You are rhe employer or the employee it should be a privilege to assist someone. The future of a business can depend on an attitude. The public cannot change that, only the employer can see to that. read more

Fantastic Gift shop/ boutique. It was my first time there and the place is very big. They have a lot of different gifts, clothes ,home decor, jewelry etc. I will definitely being going back because I didn't spend nearly enough time there!!!! Workers were very friendly and helpful . Although they had really cool stuff. I felt like I was given the shaft. I was at work all day looking kind of rough and I walked in, they were all at the center counter, kinda looked at me and forced a smile. As I walked around looking around, I heard some other people walk in they greeted them, asked them how they were...asked what they were looking for..Really nice to them. I guess the way you look really does make a difference. I was looking for a gift for my step mothers birthday and I ended up spending some money, though I didnt want to because they were so snooty. Then I went to Grahms and spent the rest of my Budget. ALTHOUGH the short girl with the curly Hair was super nice to me and gave me an idea to go along with the present, while the other old dying ladies were stuck up snobs. As I was about to leave they asked if i wanted it wrapped. I said Yes! thank you.They Took the product from me, wrapped it, couldnt even hand it to me, set it on the desk when I reached out for it. I told her thank you as she walked away with no reply. Not to mention the fidt wrap colors were very tacky. It looked like a small childrens wrapping. I was just so insulted for my first time being there. read more
