My kids have been coming to summer camps, art and cooking and stem for three summers and the services have definitely gone from four stars to five stars. Honestly, we are so lucky to have such a nice community college in our town. I have been to many Womens events, brunches, Chef events, and community conferences here that were also pretty fabulous. It's nice having ROLY POLY here. I miss the old-fashioned bookstore, but everything is pretty much online now. More affordable housing on this side of town. LOTS of parking and pretty lawns to lay out between classes. The cooking classes were 10/10!! My 13YO is a fancy baker now. Thank you!! read more

Always make sure to talk to financial aid before anything. My daughter signed up for a program that is co by Indiana. Ivy Tech never said at anytime or on any of the program information that if you have another scholarship it will be used to pay first. My daughter would have gone a different way with her education to maximize the scholarship. read more

I've had some great teachers here. This is my first time taking an online class and my only complaint is the lack of organization. He didn't even know he was supposed to be teaching the class until days later. I don't blame him though - it was poor communication on Ivy Tech's end. read more

I recently attended an event at Shreve Hall. The room is spacious and clean with a nice stage area in addition to flexible seating options. Parking was easy to find. This would be a great space for a small conference or other event in the Bloomington area. read more

I give it 4 stars for the nursing program. I've gone to this school for 4 years ( I went to school part time during part of it). First the nursing program. The program was very selective. During which, most all the people except 1 made it through each of the programs in my experience. I received my LPN certificate here during 1 year and the ASN diploma through the LPN to RN transition program another year. The LPN course was a little bit on the lax side in the lecture content because there wasn't a big enough emphasis on learning/memorizing the material. I've seen a couple people make it through the whole program without buying a couple of the books which was a little upsetting. The clinical rotations for this program were excellent learning environments and the observational days gave me new direction on where I wanted to be when I finish. I liked how each clinical day was challenging in its own way. The biggest downside of the LPN program is that I totally felt unprepared to work as a nurse so I decided to continue my education through their LPN to ASN program. The ASN program was exceptional. The lecture content was very involved requiring some outside class time to fulfill experiences like community service projects and group therapy observations. I learned more in this program than I expected and the lecture integrated very well with the clinical content. The greatest aspect of the LPN to ASN transition program was the amount of independence the instructors provided you at the end of the program which gave the students room to grow and experience what real life nursing would be like without someone constantly peering over your shoulder. This nursing program is better than others I have looked into and participated in, including IU's nursing program and Sinclair Community College in Dayton Ohio's program. 5/5! For those that want more hands on experience or for the people who work/have families, this is the best place you can be. I have never felt more prepared to work in healthcare until I finished this program. read more

My experience at Ivy Tech was a nightmare. Lets start with the advisors. My experience with advisors was poor. My first advisor refused emails and did not reply to messages (her preferred method of communication). Only option for questions was phoning, which was difficult with a full time job. Second advisor never followed through with her projects that were needed to keep my portfolio updated: grades, technical certificates, etc. Also, every time we met she did not remember anything about me, no notes in her computer about my existing certifications, previous classes, academic goals. She always promised to update the computer system with my information, but never did. My hours at work required me to take on line classes. I was told that for the CINT program that all classes were available on line, including CISCO. When it came time to start hardware and CISCO classes, I was told they were not available on line so I took other classes, such as Help Desk, etc. As a half time student it took me 4 years to graduate. In my final semester my work schedule was modified and I was able to take brick/mortar classes. But, due to a curriculum change, CISCO classes were now delivered on line via a third party. My advisor assured me everything was fine and signed me up for the on line CISCO class. On December 23, during Christmas break before my final semester, I received an email stating that I was dropped from the class because I did not qualify for the new on line CISCO class. Mind you, I had a 3.85 GPA and needed only 7 credits to graduate. The new curriculum required Windows 8.1 Desktop, a class that was not available on my original curriculum. I was forced to take the $1000 class in order to graduate, even though I had already taken Windows Server. Here's the best part. Half way through that final semester, I received another email stating that students on the original CINT program would not be forced to switch to the new curriculum. With only eight weeks to graduation I was told they upended my academic life for nothing. End result, general network training (Network+, A+, Security+), no CISCO. If you are looking for good training in the computer network field I recommend Iowa Central Community College or ITT Tech. Ivy Tech may be good for nursing or general classes, but I would not recommend this school for network training. At least, that was my experience. read more

The worst online course I have ever had in Ivy Tech Community College as a guest student.

I would recommend Ivy Tech, Bloomington, if you need to take English or Math. My experience rating is based on the Instructor's attitude, and professionalism. Some Instructor's are second chairs and are in meeting a lot, and don't have the patients to teach. You could be a freshman in a class with students graduating. You may start a class with 30 students and by the end only 9. The adviser's just hand you your degree outline, and tell you to go schedule your classes. Each Ivy Tech is in a zone and is in competition with the other for state money for equipment and status. read more
