I love the teachers here. They are hard working and they care for your kids. Even though we gave them a low review, we had two kids come here. Why the low review? They nickel and dime you to death. They will charge you for sneezing in the wrong place. And during the COVID crisis, they are still charging for the daycare hours. They claim to be offering instruction online, but they aren't offering daycare. It doesn't bother me as much, but we know of families with babies in room 1. The videos this place is posting don't help at all. They aren't providing their service anymore and they are not adjusting the room 1 families' tuition. That's just not right. So, we like the treatment our children received here, but I question the ethics of a place that is this much about the bottom line. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about my experience with this school. My son has been in room 1 for 6 months now (started a 13 months old), and he always gets so happy when I tell him we're going to school. Pricing: comparing to the big corp Childtime and all of those, this school is reasonable! I called around many different locations to make sure I understood the going-rate, and for what you get, this is worth every dollar. The teachers care for him with so much love. He is always happy, silly and comes home doing something new after each week at school. The staff is really what makes this experience so special for us -- every single teacher in room 1. Choosing a school for my first born, while battling the tail-end of PPD was so challenging, but I am so happy to say, ivy crest was one of the best decisions I've made for my son and our family. read more

I strongly recommend IvyCrest for any parents that are looking for well-balanced level of caring and education. I started to sending my daughter to Fullerton location last Aug and I am so happy about that decision. I was concerned because this was the first English speaking school that my daughter was attending, coupled with her very introverted personality. The teachers and directors of course tried to comfort me letting me know she will really like the school and now, I am realizing that they truly meant it. They did everything they could within their ability for my daughter to be brought up speed with English, academics and socially. Now, she has many friends in school and loves going to school every day! I am so thankful that I got this amount of support for my daughter from all teachers and directors who are committed to provide positive learning environment for each student. On top of that, their communication was amazing and always professional. My daughter suffers from eczema and allergies and I was always the first one to know when she broke out in rash, which I really appreciated. Our kids have outgrown this age but I have to take a minute and talk about their Director, Ms. Martinez. She is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met. If my kids were younger I'd trust her and her team. I own my own business and she was so sweet & professional when I stopped by the school. She treats people like you want to be treated. Over its a great school. Most, not all of the staff actually cares about the child's well being. My daugther went to several school including overseas. She rejected all the school because the teacher is "bad". I almost gave up till a friend who used to work at this school highly recommend it. She said this school actually cares about the kids education and the director was one of the best teacher she ever worked with. At this school, I never heard my daughter once say anything bad about the staff. She's be going to this school almost 3 years. To see my daughter excited about school makes me excited to bring her. Over the past 3 years, I've seen my daugther develop. Teacher at her school care about the child's development, especially her room 7 teacher. Her room 7 teacher was very engaging and truely care about my daugther's development. Almost once a week, she came out to talk to me about what we can do to help my daugther develop. My daughter was extremely behind. We listen to her advice (wasn't easy!) and almost three years later, my daugther has floruish under the care of Ivycrest. Their head director truely care. My daugther graudated from kindergarden ( rm 7) and was ready for 1st grade. I didn't know my daughter was nervous and didn't want to go her new class. Director sat with my daugther every morning and talked to her till she felt comfortable. That show's how much this school cares about child's well being. If the director cares, then her staff cares too! It starts from the top. When my daugther started 2nd grade, guess who was at the front gate waiting for her, the director. Now my daughter is no longer nervous going into new class. She started her chinese sunday school yesterday (at another school) and said "bye dad, see you later". My friend who's a voluteer at this sunday school checked up on her and said she was doing fine. No tears. This school also doesn't tolerate bully or violence from any kids. One day my daugther came home crying and said her class mate scatched her. My wife was furious. She talked to the teacher and director, and was reassured that the student has been expell from their school. The school has zero tolerance for this type of behavior. If your looking for a school that will foster your child's growth, both emotion and education then I recommend this school. If your looking for school who's just focus on profit and ranking then this isn't the school for your child. Basically puting your kid in a school rank #1 doesn't mean your child will become #1. My son started going here part time in April and I just have to say, I have never felt so welcomed and well-taken care of when it comes to my child's care. Everyone here is absolutely amazing. I read through some of the comments and understand the frustrations of some of the parents. We have been sending our little guy there since he was 10 months old. He's gone through rooms 1,2,3 and 4. He is now ready for public kindergarten and I couldn't have been happier that we sent and kept him at IvyCrest. We absolutely love all of the teachers and even though we didn't agree with the mask mandate that lasted longer than it should have, we believe they were acting conservatively out of caution and care. We started pre-pandemic and stayed on and paid 50% tuition for a couple of months during the pandemic, but they opened up sooner than most schools for in person and I could not have been more grateful. The structure of Montessori and the academics in the school were great for my little guy who really needed the routine. He learned so much that I feel he is ready for kindergarten now and am so thankful for the school. He has had his best friend with him since he was 2 and I will definitely miss the school. It is expensive but I do think it was worth it. They do special events and make it both academically challenging and super fun for kids. Highly recommend! We've been sending our little one for about a year. It usually takes her some time to adjust to new environments and friends due to her sensitive and timid personality. However, with the help and care of the teachers she has acclimated to the environment sooner than we expected. AND really enjoys her time in school. All I can say is that it was the professionalism in the teachers that helped. Also, the school staff and teachers are very communicative and responsive. If there is an issue, I have noticed that they look for a solution and tries very hard to resolve the issues. They never brush even a small problem; but genuinely listens to the parents and work as a team with the parents for the best of the child. I have researched many montessori school settings before making the decision to send our little one. And found Ivy Crest to be the best in the area for sure. We have had 2 kids go through Ivycrest and had amazing experiences for both of them. The school is really full facility - starting from checkins / checkouts to nut free food service, afterschool care / activities and pickup from school. The teachers are amazing and really bonded / cared for our kids. They took in our baby boy when he was 6 months old. There are annual performances which also encourage kids to be outgoing. Kids academic performance is also monitored reported to parents very diligently - there are other montessori's which are not too diligent about this or dont even have the faciltiies / staff to run a proper program. In a day and age when schools are gouging parents for limited duration and limited services, we were extremely happy with our time at Ivycrest. I understand the pandemic has upended many children's/parents/schools lives and schedules. Encourage everyone to understand that schools are not a resource which can be turned on/off like a utility. Lets support facilities which really try to keep our kids in mind. read more

Many years ago we tried this school for my son and call it a freak accident or a negligent one, but a heavy door leading out closed on his finger. When we asked how such an accident could've happened, the teacher apparently didn't see my son running out after her when it closed. We removed him after the incident. We were never called by the owner and we weren't allowed to know which teacher was on duty when it happened. After the ER visit where my son had to wear a clam shaped cast for two weeks later, no written apology either. read more

I really don't recommend Room 1 for any toddler. Have toddlers and infants in the same room is too much for the toddler, the cry was non stop. I did my observation from 10:20 to 12:00. my daughter has been taken out and put in from one fenced area to the other fenced area the whole time ( diaper change, eating lunch), there maybe 5-6 children in one area , the space so limited, and my daughter has been bumped couple times by other kids ( the fenced area probably same size or maybe smaller than what I have at home, and my daughter hates it) she was crying the whole time. The entire room maybe for 36people but the area for toddlers to walk really limited, I only saw two toddlers be able to escaped the fence and run around a little bit then taken back into the fenced area again. I also came back to observe from 3:15pm to 3:50pm (I pick up her at 3:50)to check what activity they will do( on their schedule). I was so disappointed, the activity just turn on the YouTube music. ( no body really watching it) The cry still on and I really don't think it's healthy for anybody stay in that noise environment for longer than one hour. I did not see any teachers have a peaceful moment to sit down with the toddlers doing any productive activity ( drawing on paper, reading books). At the end of the day they gave me a report about how was my daughter doing at school, they put HAPPY with little cry. WHAT? The entire time I was there I didn't see any happy face on my daughter! The first day my daughter came back from Ivycrest she stopped walking and went back to crawling.... She has been walking for two months, one day in Ivycrest, the school made her back to crawling:(. The school looks good from outside but room 1 is not for my daughter. Never go back there! Also they sending pictures really behind, only send me one picture when I asked. STAY AWAY FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR CHILDREN !!!!! This school Is a BUSINESS , they will make your children smart but they will not be happy there . I noticed my children's personality change , their personalities were repressed and were not treated as individuals . When you have a concern about something that is important to you the BOARD OF DIRECTORS act like they care but they really don't and it's extremely sad that they don't value the parents input considering it is a very expensive school. The only great thing about this school is their teachers BUT THEY TOO HAVE HAD TO QUIT in the last year because they are so unhappy with the work environment and ridiculous policies . I had my children attend there for 2 years and I WAS NEVER ALLOWED INSIDE . I didn't know what their classrooms looked like , please please please send your children to a school that will genuinely love and care for them. I had no choice but to remove my children from their program and I know 3 other families than have now done the same in the span of 2 months . My son has been attending this school for almost a year now, and we feel blessed to have found an amazing school in Ivycrest Fullerton. Ms. CLAIRE (elementary director), who is a very personable and proficient educator, gave me an informative tour of the school. She is able to deliver what I was hoping for in a lead teacher of the elementary department. I am happy with the way she responds to concerns and how helpful she is in many ways. My son's class is handled by outstanding teachers who CONSISTENTLY SHOW GOOD CHARACTER and EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM. They have been tirelessly providing my husband and I with such great support for our son. They give high quality education to their students and work with them individually , to cater to their best potentials! My son has made such incredible gains from being a part of their class. They are very caring, encouraging, precise in their reports, and goal-oriented. Thank you teachers!!!!! The school is always clean, have a fantastic great lawn ( artificial grass) safe for children who suffer from allergies, and have really nice play areas. It's hard to find a school like this one! An institute that looks very vast and full of educational values on the outside but on the inside completely empty of compassion towards parents and families who bring their kids there. My 18 month old started there on March 4 2020 and within two weeks since schools and day care services closed we asked to withdraw him as I was high risk pregnant and had no intentions sending him back . Asked a few questions on the teachers availability online since we were asked to pay 50% fees . There was no response to the email . A general email was sent to me and few other friends by management to which I responding again but no response . It's been 4 mails they keep emailing us and causing us emotional trauma during such times . I request people to think before sending their kids here. This school may make your children smart but not teach them how to be considerate . If my son was older and could sit online I would understand them charging but 18 month old cannot learn online . I'm looking for legal help now to resolve this issue and getting a word out about their management. read more

My two-year-old has been in this school for 8 months and I've seen a tremendous increase in his vocabulary, knowledge, etiquette, and independence. His teachers and the classroom assistants are always very joyful and appear to have a wonderful time with the students. I've watched my son from the observatory room constantly and have never witnessed anything unpleasant. My son has very bad eczema and the director, Ms. Aida, has taken the time to make sure he doesn't spend too much time outdoors because the heat causes his little face to break out and turn bright red. She's also ensured every teacher knows about his condition and the correct measurements are being taken to help his skin when it's in distress. My husband has visited during lunchtime and he's been very impressed with the distribution of lunch -- the day he visited we had packed him a banana and they actually cut the banana up and put the slices in a little bowl for him to eat out of, even though he can eat a banana in its whole form. Children 3 and over wear uniforms and can go on summer field trips. Water play takes place for children 18+ months during the summer. Occasional performances & school events. The campus is beautiful and clean! Yes, it's a little pricey, but not as pricey as the Montessori schools in Irvine, where I work. Overall, this place deserves an A! read more

This is probably the best private school in town! The education your child will receive and service is excellent. The staff is calm and happy and have been there for many years which means that happiness trickles down to those kiddos. The students are challenged but not stressed. They learn to care for others and appreciate their surroundings and reminded to be thankful. I have yet to meet anyone more suited to run a well maintained private school as Ms. Claire, her passion is undeniable. Kids and adults respect her early on as she also respects the children and their parents in the most graceful way. My child previously attended a very expensive well marketed private school in Yorba Linda where he had two brand new teachers out of the three grades he attended and in my opinion the environment was stressful. And although my sons last school was one grade level ahead, that was it! Only one grade level ahead. Ivy Crest doesn't market the same way and they don't need to, they know what they are doing here. The teachers are very well trained and certified. The kids here are limitless and some really are excelling, and not just past one grade ahead but even beyond this, all without being forced but positively challenged in a fun and loving way. Bravo! And if you take a tour at any elementary/middle/high private school in the area, looking to transfer your child later, their ears perk up when you let them know your child is an Ivy Crest student. I attended this Montessori when I was a child. My three month old son now goes here. The staff remembers me when I attended & even remembered the year I left! The teachers are absolutely incredible! They always made me feel so loved and nurtured. The teachers and administrators are so easy to talk to. Montessori creates a limitless sky for our children to grow intellectually. I remember how well I was taken care of, loved and nurtured. My heart is content and full of joy to know my son has the opportunity to be apart of the Montessori family. I know he is so well taken care of. The activities that my son is already being exposed to are unreal. Every time I pick up or drop of my son the teachers are always doing activities with all the kiddos either singing, dancing being taught or read to in small groups so our children get the best shot at their education before they turn one year old! I'm getting emotional writing this review, because I feel I can't even describe in words how honored I feel to be apart of the Montessori family where I know and trust my son is in the best care available. read more

STAY AWAY!!! I relocated to Fullerton less than a year ago and was making my rounds for private schools for my 3rd grader (she was attending Catholic). Upon walking in to the school "office" (RED FLAG #1). I was ushered to Claire Takeda the admissions person. She gave me a tour and I met Holly, the teacher for 3 grades in ONE classroom (RED FLAG #2) . Holly seemed nice. Claire was nervous and rushing the tour and was quick to get back to the "office" so we could discuss start dates and fees (RED FLAG #3). Here is what I assessed: As a Registered Nurse I was surprised that there was not a nurse on staff, even part-time, especially for what they have the audacity to charge. I saw many, many hazards including their huge flight of stairs all the kids 5 and older will have to use daily, too small "eating area" oversized classrooms, etc. Claire's answer for the stair and other health hazards was that a few of them are CPR certified. Please understand that CPR is cardio (heart), pulmonary (lung) resuscitation. It will do nothing for a cracked open head from those stairs, broken limbs, administration of needed medication (inhaler, insulin, etc), bleeding wound, I could go on but lets move forward. Secondly, their "playgrounds" are a complete joke. I could not understand how multiple canchildren safely run around in an area smaller than a studio apartment. In addition to this, the grass is FAKE and cheap looking. There is better equipment at any public park here in Fullerton. (My child loves and frequents the parks, Craig, Tristate, and Acacia are our favorites btw). Third, I asked Claire and Holly about curriculum. I was informed they use non-traditional methods. When I asked for specifics they said, and I quote "For example we might have one of the kids sweep the classroom as a teaching method". I asked for an explanation as to how that was an effective teaching method at school. I was informed it teaches them real world skills. Last time I checked, that was what parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents are for. Why would I pay you to teach my child to sweep, clean toys, or take out classroom trash. Fourth, I wanted to know where they base their non-traditional "teaching" on. I was informed by Claire that the founder of Montessori established the schools as a way to inspire MENTALLY RETARDED (her words) children to be productive in everyday life and contribute to society. Fortunately for me, my child is not mentally retarded and does not need to learn how to sweep up or perform basic tasks, especially not at almost 10k per year. Fifth, if you decide to visit please ask to use the restroom in the office. It is roughly 3 ft by 2 feet, does not have electricity, and an accordion non-locking door. This is the restroom your child will be using when on the "play area" if you choose to have them attend this place. I pray your child is not afraid of the dark. I will end by saying I believe this school could be a good thing for the mentally challenged, down syndrome, or otherwise not fully functional child. It may also be a good thing for children from 1-3 years old. If this school if for some reason on your list for consideration ask the tough questions don't blindly buy into their sales talk. If you can, speak to the KIDS of other parents. the kids are the ones who are there for 6-7 hours a day. As parents we are not there for the day to day and have no clue as to what really goes on. As a first time mom who has to return to work, one of the most important concerns for me was finding exceptional childcare for my child. Yes, I want my child to receive quality education but most importantly, I wanted to know that the staff would care for and nurture my child. From my first visit during the school tour up until this point today, the staff is always friendly and has always shown so much care for my son. He enrolled at 3 months of age and was just treated by the teachers as if he were their own. They genuinely care for these children. They nurture them and love them. It gets busy handling babies and toddlers but they don't lack on the attention the little ones need. If you have concerns, they address it immediately. If there are concerns you may not be aware of, they bring it up so you're never oblivious. They have an open door policy so it feels comforting to know that I can drop in any time to see my child just to say hello or breastfeed him. It's worth every penny and as much as I miss him when I'm working, I'm at peace knowing that my child is in great hands. I'm so grateful for them- the teachers especially. I'm still learning all the ins & outs of what a proper Montessori education entails but I do see the older children thriving and look forward to my son doing the same. Already my baby is taking off with his milestones and he always enjoys his time there. If I could rate this school higher, I would. read more

I'm very impressed with this school. My daughter has learned a lot in just less than a year. The teachers and staff really show compassion to all students and encourage them to do their best. I love how they offer all kinds of arts for the kids to explore. I'm definitely going to have my twin boys enrolled soon. I loved Ms. Holly. My daughter couldn't stop talking about her. Now she's in Ms. Shondra's class. Same thing. My daughter loves her. I'm happy that they focus on my daughter's weaknesses and have her work on them to be better. My daughter attended here for 2 years (2-3.5 years old). The school is very nicely constructed and renovated. From the splash pad in the middle to the well maintained playgrounds, the school shines. The uniforms for the preschoolers and up didn't appeal to my daughter but I'm sure many parents and students would like it. At times the staff seemed too uptight about moving my daughter to the next classroom or the level of coursework my daughter should be able to perform compared to her peers. The head teachers were wonderful in each room but room 3 had high turn over when we attended. The assistant teachers didn't seem to have a good handle on creating a calm and organized atmosphere during non-core hours. Room 2 (18mo-2.5 year olds), although it had the right ratios for students and teachers, had too many children and staff and created some chaos for my daughter. The school is very strict unnecessarily on their fees for enrollment, being late, etc. Overall we had a great experience here. The theatre is amazing and they put on the best winter and spring shows you'll probably ever see from preschoolers. It's also very safe, utilizing a computer check-in and paper method. Overall I would recommend the school if it fits your needs. read more

I cannot believe there are bad reviews here about this school. Yes, it is pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. I shopped around A LOT before putting my one-year-old into this program, and, trust me, this is the best program in Fullerton. I had stayed at home with baby, and it was so difficult for me to find somewhere I felt was good enough. And even then... It took me a long time feeling comfortable - not because of the program, but because of how difficult it is to leave the baby to go to work. Mrs. Starr, the Montessori teacher in Room 1, is an angel. She is highly professional and kind with parents and fun and sweet with kids. She is evidently well educated and has a nursing degree. Mrs. Anushka, Mrs. Leesha, and Mrs. Brianna are other teachers that have been there for a while and took care of my baby girl with so much love and respect. I am so thankful for the attentiveness they've given. My daughter loved them so much, and it was so hard for her to move on to the next classroom because she had so much fun. I will confess that one thing bothered me about Room 1 - they have a high turn over ratio, meaning that within the year that my daughter stayed in that room, they renewed almost all of their staff (about 11 teachers, I think). This was hard on my daughter, since it takes her a long time to get used to new faces. In any case, when she was two, she transferred over to Room 2. The transition is always hard on the little ones, but the fact that they send familiar faces (teachers and other friends) together does help quite a lot. Now that she is comfortable in that classroom, she loves it so much. She looks forward to all the activities they have planned for her on a daily basis. Oh, speaking of which: THEY HAVE LIVE MUSIC EVERYDAY! And art! And books! And more music! Montessori toys! And it is a super clean classroom, with fun changing themes and activities for the kids. They have birthday parties, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving... You name it. The little ones even perform twice a year. It's just amazing how much they do with them. Personally, the whole academics of it did not really matter to me. She is TWO, all I care is that she is having fun and feels confident and comfortable in her environment while I am gone, and that she certainly does. As a bonus, however, I am always IMPRESSED with how much she is talking, and she constantly surprises me with the things she learns. She has known her colors and numbers and ABCs for so long now. She cleans up after herself, takes her dishes to the sink, and is now asking to go potty. We have been there for two years now, and all I can say is that I am so thankful to have the privilege of putting my daughter into such an amazing program. I love the facility, of course. Aside from parking, which can be a pain but is manageable, it is a great space. It is beautiful, clean, and they have a theater, a splash pad, and many playgrounds/spaces. And they have an observation room for the classes - meaning you can sit there and secretly watch the teachers and your child and make observations. I've done this quite a lot, and was mostly pleased with what I saw. Now, to be fair, there are a few downsides, for me anyway. I feel that nature should be a bigger part of their program. All of the grounds are rubber surfaced. No dirt, no plants, no nature activities. Nothing. This made me go looking for other programs around, and I found that schools that follow Emilio Reggio have more nature incorporated in their activities. There are so many studies pointing out that nature is so important in child development that I find it difficult to understand why this school completely removed it from their program. Well, liability comes to mind... Another down side is that I wish Room 2 would warm up their lunches. They do provide school lunch, but since I'd prefer my daughter to eat mostly vegetarian/organic, it was hard for me to let that go. Eventually, the convenience won over the ideal, but I'd prefer if they would provide a warm-up for parents that sent lunch. Lastly, his is the most expensive school around - which does hurt the pocket. But, honestly, our family learned to budget around it and put my daughter's wellbeing first. Other than these downsides, everything else makes up it. That is why I give it 5 stars. This is really as good as it gets with all the other schools I looked into. The school and staff excel in so many areas that it is difficult to downgrade them for a few downs, which are based on personal preference anyway. read more

When I pickup my baby daily, I can see how much these ladies in room 1 care for her. They care for each child as they were their own. When my husband drops our baby off in the morning, she looks forward to going there and the ladies are always welcoming her with a smile and caring comments. I recently went to my nephews graduation from the sixth grade. What an impressive school! It's a beautiful campus with a very obviously loving staff. The students are so impressively talented, well educated, mature and well behaved. It was very apparent through the beautiful videos the staff put together that these teachers care about their students and you could also see how much fun the students have as well as what a wonderful learning environment this school provides. The student performances during the graduation ceremony were outstanding. read more

I couldn't allow the single star review to skew anyone's thoughts on this school. My son loves going to school here and that makes this mommy super happy. We have had a great experience here. I was reluctant at first because we had always had him in a Christian private school BUT we have found more love and kindness here than in other schools. We teach him Jesus' love at home, His life at church, and at school he learns how to love learning and others. I haven't met one person who works here who isn't kind and loving.y son will often ask to stay at school rather than come home when he previously would call me asking me to pick him up. The after school program is FANTASTIC! Teachers offer homework assistance and the school of the arts has a great selection of courses to enrich the kids extracurricular education (dance, art, guitar, piano, acting, sports, etc....) no need for me to run around everyday to get my son into other things he's interested in and again best of all is homework help! We come home, only review homework, and then it's snuggle time. They're only young once and I want to spend my time with my son with happy memories rather than frustration from doing homework until late with a hungry and tired child. In closing...we love it and recommend it. Ms. Aida was great making our mid year school transition smooth and stress free, Ms. Lori and Miss Ashley - ROCK!, Ms. Claire and Ms. Virginia are wonderful...It's all quality!!!
