Off the bat I'd just like to say that I absolutely love places like this. Small shops with local delicatessen, personal service, and the shared love and excitement over food. Järnspisens Matbod is run by Cecilia & Daniel Lindström, the previous owners of restaurant Järnspisen (now closed), that wanted to take their passion about food to the next level, and the result is nothing more than excellent. Apart from great choices in their store ranging from proteins, cheese, bread, and much more, they also offer catering, cooking courses, the occasional dinner, soup of the day that you can either eat there in their shop (they have tables), or as take-away. I've had several of these such as mushroom, tomato, goulash, meat etc. Is it a bit more expensive than your regular grocery store? Yes, of course it is, but not by much. And I enjoy supporting businesses such as these that both educate us on food, the importance of local produce, and good quality produce that isn't mass-produced but cared and cultivated for. Something I am truly fond of, and have tried on a number of occasions, is their "Friday-bag". This is a bag that you book at least one day in advance (on Thursday) consisting of two portions of food with some components prepared in advance, and some of them you finish up yourself (such as cooking of the meat etc). There's also the option of adding a dessert as well as a charcuterie-plate as a starter. It is price-worthy, utterly delicious, and I can only hope that they remain in business for a long time - at least I keep coming back as a customer on a regular basis. read more
