I wasn't going to ask to see her but something told me that I needed to and I'm so glad I did. A little weight was lifted from my heart after getting to see her; she looked so peaceful and finally at rest. I'm so glad Neal and Shane were able to give that to me. They both went above and beyond with their love and compassion for my mom, as well as being able to show me love and compassion in my darkest hours. Each of them was kind, patient, supportive, and incredibly thoughtful throughout this painful process. I asked Charian if it would be possible for us to visit my mother in law one more time before returning to California, and she went above and beyond to make that happen. Most importantly, my mother in law was treated with respect, kindness, and dignity, which meant everything to our family. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and Charian is coordinating the arrangements for her to be delivered to us in California. Matthew went out of his way to console my husband and offered him words of comfort and strength during an incredibly difficult time. It's taken me a year to write this review as I was too upset at the time to say anything. While my…read morepaternal family has used this home for many of our family services, I would STRONGLY advise against it. Two instances occurred that left me flabbergasted and disgusted: the utter disregard for my father's final wishes and the lack of attention the funeral home ushers placed on recognizing immediate family. Issue 1 occurred when meeting with the owner of the home and explaining that my father wished to be cremated. He went into gruesome detail on what cremation includes. He used the guise of "I have to tell you all this because it's the law" but I have yet to uncover such a regulation. He only apologized when I left the room and refused to continue the discussions until he changed the subject matter. Issue 2 actually happened at the funeral for my father. After everyone had left the chapel and were congregating outside, I went to the family room to grab some water and collect myself. One of the ushers had the nerve to push me into going to say my "final farewells" and informed me of the placement of MY OWN FATHER'S head in the casket. You know, the same casket I had been standing near for hours that day as families tend to great mourners. I was APPALLED that the usher didn't even bother to recognize the deceased daughter and felt the need to push someone to do something that they had actually politely declined. This was by far the WORST experience I've had with a funeral home. "Calloused" and "disrespectful" do Barlow's more justice then they actually deserve. If a caring and warm experience is what you anticipate when laying to rest your beloved family member or friend, then I strongly advise you take your business elsewhere.
