So I just bought a 2009 Ford F150 Truck from here. I had a price range and they had a truck that fit that. You know this place is a small little place. When I was there there were quite a few people looking for vehicles. No one came running out after me to ask me questions. That is okay, I kind of like it when they don't. I found the truck I wanted and had two legs so walked in and asked to test drive the truck. I was given the keys and actually told if the truck was low on gas that I could put $10 in and they would reimburse me cash for that. Cool so I did that. That gave me a chance to drive it and check it out. I noticed that it needed new tires and the air conditioning didn't work. They were willing to negotiate a bit on the price and offered to recharge the freon, if that was all that the truck needed to fix the air. Now mind you, I knew that I was not buying a newer vehicle. The truck was a 2009 and didn't really care about a little rust. The purchase was pretty straight forward. We went back in to fix the air and unfortunately, the problem was not the freon. However, Dave (I think that was his name) made sure the condenser was working and then asked me a few questions. He told me that the problem was the HVAC Blend Door Actuator. Yes, this 52 year old Grammy is pretty smart that I remembered that. ;-) Awesome Dave, at least I know what is wrong. He shows me what the part is called, what the price is and brings up a Youtube video so, I have an idea what it will take to fix it. Hey, you know some other place could have just said, oops the freon didn't do it and sent me on my way. Nope, not Dave....he suddenly grabbed the phone and like a Ninja....started by asking for that part from someone. Back and forth he exchanged information and then told the person on the other end to take that part and put it on the front counter. He told him that they would pay for it and a customer would pick it up shortly! ) That Dave, what a guy! I know I have the right part, I know the condenser actually works (saves me from guessing,) it didn't cost me anything, and I have an idea what it is going to take to fix it. Dave got off the phone and told me to head to a nearby Advanced Auto and grab my part. This place is busy and you can see are not making a huge profit off you. They figure you are an adult and do not need your hand-held. However, while we worked on the purchase part....everyone was friendly enough. I got the oil changed and of course, put the new tires on. Guess what? Just drove that truck to Chicago and back with no issues. Seems like a solid truck. By the way...you buy these with no warranty. They make sure you know that when you purchase them. You take a gamble. If you don't like to gamble then spend more money and go elsewhere. You can't expect to buy a 10 to 13 year vehicle without any issues. Went to one of those bigger dealers once and one week later, my car had issues and I was back in for repairs. It happens. Anyway, I would check this place out again because Dave went the extra mile when he didn't have to! Here's to you, Dave and J & J Motor Sales, this Buds for you. Well actually you have to get your on Budweiser and drink it but you get my point. ;-) Thanks! read more
