After breaking a tooth last week, I went in to for an "urgent" appointment with Dr. Kirk, who is…read morenot my regular dentist. I am pleased with Dr. Kirk's type of care as he is very thorough and presents a clear and detailed explanation of what's going on and also develops a plan of care. His receptionist is very helpful and knowledgeable about insurances and they are able to give you a price quote for how much the insurance will cover vs. your out of pocket expense. This is awesome in planning future appointments for teeth extractions, fillings, cleanings, etc. I spent ~5 hours yesterday getting a root canal and crown put on a tooth that had previously been worked on by another dentist. Granted, it was **5 hours** but Dr. Kirk was able to remove the shoddy work performed by the other dentist, re-perform the root canal, create a crown in their lab and fit my tooth with the crown. HIs dental hygenist staff (two of them that I have had experience with) are very nice but very intrusive. I feel that they try and perform tasks way beyond their education. There were several times that I felt uncomfortable with either what they were saying or what they were doing. I will discuss this with Dr. Kirk in the future and feel confident that it can be resolved. Whether for urgent appointments, major dental work or teeth cleaning, I'm switching my dental care to Dr. Kirk for convenience sake and because I feel like I actually understand my plan of care.

She even went out of her way to get a pillow to put under my knees while I was lying in the chair. If you live in the Wickenburg AZ area and are looking for a good dentist I would highly recommend Dr Kirk for your family dentistry needs or for your own personal dentistry needs. He's very knowledgable and knows his stuff. His office is very well kept and clean and it seems he has about 3 or 4 hygenists (including his wife as one) on staff. He's got about 3 or 4 "rooms" too and they all have windows and a view to the outside mountains and scenery which is kind of calming for someone who's about to go under the drill. For anesthetics he does NOT use nitros oxide gas. He primarily numbs the gums and bones with a novacaine type of numbing agent. I forget the exact name of it. It's NOT Novacaine but something that numbs for sure. I am just happy to say that even under a root canal procedure I experience NO PAIN. Anyway again if you're looking for a dentist I would highly highly recommend him.

During the whole time I was checked on to make sure I was doing okay and everything was explained every step of the way so I not only knew what was going to be done but also what exactly to expect. Dr. David Ngo took his time to review everything with me and thoroughly explain what he saw and and the reason for his recommendations. He was able to answer any questions I had and never did I feel he was rushing to get to his next patient. Made me feel that he genuinely cares about his patients and my dental health. We moved to Scottsdale about six or seven years ago. My wife did a ton of research before picking a…read moredentist and she chose S&L with Dr. David Ngo. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.
