The Emporium had one type, JDA had three (!) that were specifically for nutmeg and a range of other graters that would also work. If you are a cook, you will understand how important it is to have the right tool. If not, well, then none of this review makes any sense to you anyway. Price are good. Service is terrific. Friendly and helpful without being in your face. However, with the amount of stock they have in a small space, it is a good idea to just ask for what you need rather than hunt around. Nutmeg grater with cheese grater, not nut cracker, for example. I ended up buying microplanes and tea towels and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Their displays are beautiful, and incorporate good use of space. It's those little, finishing touches that make such a big difference, such as: access to the back of a cabinet that divides rooms, like an island, or an L-shaped counter where the back is exposed to another room. We are looking for some way to add a little more storage to our house, specifically the kitchen, without losing the integrity of the space. We wandered around Laurysen looking for ideas; it would be very tempting to replace the kitchen entirely! I need to go back again, to look at the selection in the lower level. This is an excellent show room for anyone who likes to see things in person, as opposed to shopping from a catalogue.

Multiple days taken off work - and at times, for some guy to come out and literally do nothing ... seriously. Nothing. I would expect this from a low budget company, but Laurysen isn't cheap. 60% down payment over 5 moths ago to get it all started, and they WOULD NOT even unload the cabinets from the truck upon delivery without the next 30% deposit. I haven't even mentioned the 3 garbage cans (which I filled) of material that was left in my garage after installation. Love the look of the kitchen, but in hindsight, I would have negotiated the payment plan better to withhold 20-30% of final payment ... that might actually motivate this company to be a little more punctual with finishing its job.

There rest of us are all adults capable of responsibilty for ourselves. The newcomer muslims swim in the our pool fully clothed & that is not what a pool is intended for. If you want to swim with your clothes on go to the beach or take a shower. A pool is not for washing your clothes. It deters everyone else from using it, believe me we all talk about it & stopped going. The apartments are cold & drafty in the falls, winter & spring because they are so old (1975) They have recently installed individual electric meters for these apartments as well as highjacked the rent since Doug Ford took away rent control! The rents have doubled in the last 3 years or more. It's cockroach infested, but not in my apartment, but they do try to keep it under control. The company they hired took extreme measures recently to rid us of them, but they make you take everything out of every cupboard in the kitchen & bathroom. I didn't realize how much work it is to do that. A bunch of us tenants did not appreciate that little stunt. We were all infuriated with this much work on a week day! Grrr... We have a cleaner who does his work really fast & then goes to hide in his apartment. He doesn't even pass the mop in front of the elevator properly from floor to floor. if it doesn't look dirty he just does one streak of the mop & leaves He only vaccums once every two weeks & what you can't see he won't clean. We do have a good competent responsible superintendant at our building as of this writing ( July 09, 2024)! That's something!

It is quite opposite during the weekday. I stopped in again on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. The cashier asked us if anyone had helped us during our visit, and that really made me think. We were never asked if we needed help finding anything on both visits. That can be a good or bad thing; if you like to shop in peace without the hassle of sales associates then rest assure, you probably wont be getting any sale pitches during your visits. The down side is, if you are having trouble finding an item and nobody has offered assistance, I can see that being frustrating; especially if there is not an associate in site. From what I noticed the associates usually keep to their selves, stocking or cleaning, so the only customer service you will probably receive is at checkout. The store carries EVERYTHING that you can possibly imagine for your home, but it will cost you a pretty penny! They do have a lot of high end items, but also have some bargain items set up at the entrance of the store. Their return policy is awesome. A small, metal tea strainer was $6 and a wooden spoon was $8, and it was made with porous wood, which is low quality. The space is also quite crowded, though this might be because of the liquidation sale they're currently having. But if they're having this huge sale, why were the prices so much higher than they should have been, ESPECIALLY during a liquidation?! I visited the store with my brother, who is a cook at a fine dining French restaurant in Toronto. But wait: where did my mother live? And what exactly was I looking for? Long story short: an inexplicably kind woman named Sam, and her horticulturalist friend Sierra, Not only helped me figure out what I wanted (here I was the stereotypical clueless male), but also sussed out that Sam lived near my parents, and would be happy to take several plants home with her, and to deliver the goods the morning of my mother's birthday. If you can believe it, there's actually a good deal more to the feel good story, but suffice to say that Sam's kindness left my head spinning. My teenaged daughter overheard to a good bit of the conversation I had when making my order, and remarked: "Canadians are always so nice". Yeah, maybe, but still: that kind of spirit is hard to find.
