The results spoke for themselves. However, he was quick to demand the full payment, which exceeded $2,000, without any recourse. In a nutshell, we were made to prepay a stranger we met only 20 minutes earlier, who was giving us a typical sale "shpiel" of his company being the best around. What a lie! Apparently, the love for our dog made us forego requisite due diligence and caution in choosing a dog trainer. There was no methodology as to how to train our dog most basic functions. For example, while the first trainer, Dana, kept feeding our dog treats every 2 minutes to make him compliant, the second trainer, Shan.... (forgot her full name) abandoned the "feeding" practice, but suggested to cross the street if the dog was pulling in a different direction during the walk. Contrary "techniques" between the 2 trainers were obvious. After 6 sessions and countless walks and "in-home practices" with and without trainers, our dog did not learn much (in fact, he regressed) and we gave up on Michael's Dog Training because we saw no progress. We realized we were wronged. Bottom line, we strongly do not recommend this business.

Like a good, responsible breeder, she screened and interviewed us to make sure we would be good dog owners. And low and behold, she approved us and we got Ellie (a black lab) in Feb 2012 when she was old enough to leave her mother. At 4 years old, Ellie is the best dog I've ever had and seeing all the photos of pups from Jen temps me to get another. And if I do, I'm definitely going back to Ark Angels.

Know up front ALL COSTS. Read reviews here and as many other places as you can before leaving a deposit, it seems some people get lucky, others do not. I suggest searching as much as you can so you know what you are dealing with. Dogs may be top notch as others have posted but our experience was not a positive one in any way shape or form. We found the owner to be very unprofessional and unhinged. Lots of profanity and talking down about others. She even tried contacting my son with special needs via social media - not cool at all.

Drew met with my dog several times before actually walking her. Within several months I noticed a difference. She was calm and not as scared at the site of another dog. A neighbor had come to me to let me know how knowledgeable and compassionate Drew seemed when he was walking my dog. The same thing was said about one of his employees, Taylor, who also walks my dog. I still receive compliments from friends and family that remember him. With that said, that was years ago. I took Bam-Bam to Ultimate Dog at 4 months? Maybe slightly older. It was the best decision I made. Jean's style, at the time, was perfect for me and my family. She was clear, direct, and could identify the subtle mistake(s) in my instruction. That was key - to know what you are doing wrong while training your dog so you can correct it. My recommendation is to ask questions and have the mindset that you are seeking to learn how YOU will train your dog and you must put in the time. I recall a dog owner from our class that didn't do the exercises and blamed her Rottie for being disobedient. I don't write a ton of reviews but just had a conversation with a friend and Bam-Bam came up in conversation. Thanks Jean, you made me look good whenever anyone met Bam-Bam.

We found after 4 private sessions with Jean we were the ones who needed the training as well as the dog! Though he's not perfect (yet) he's well on his way! We plan on taking him to her distraction classes as other dogs seem to be his biggest issue. We've done training with other trainers in Monmouth County and Jeans methods hands down have been the best for us and our dog!
