Freddie came out to the house and measured everything. After doing some calculations, he told us how much fabric we needed and quoted us $700 for the job and made me sign a piece of paper in agreement. He took a picture of that signed agreement and left. After purchasing the fabric, I reached out to Freddie to set up a date and time to come pick up the fabric and mattress. At that time he told me that he had to re-quote the job. That $700 was not enough. I've called back twice and have not heard back from him. So, not sure what happened, but $700 was already a lot of money for us and if that was not going to be enough, he should've told us from the beginning. Unfortunately, I will not be using new life upholstery again.

The…read morefabric we chose for the dining chair seats had a complicated pattern and Walt's did a fine job of fitting the design on the seats. The sofa required skilled craftsmanship with lots of tufting and trims. The foam in the sofa was old and totally 'crunchy', so it needed to be replaced. We chose medium firm foam for the job, and it feels just right. We were so pleased with the quality of the workmanship, and the finished result. Both projects were finished on time and were reasonably priced. It was fun to work with Ashlea at Walt's on the project, and we'll use Walt's again when we next find vintage furniture to recover.

I purchased my own fabric and went to Cutting Edge on the recommendation of some neighbors on Nextdoor. When I dropped off my fabric and existing cushions, I clearly advised the assistant, Bernice, that I wanted the new cushion covers to go over the existing seat bottom and cover as these would be the dog proof covers that I could just remove when needed. The price quoted was wrong and when the owner, Kay, heard her quote my price she corrected her. The pricing was pretty steep, but I felt since my neighbors had recommended this place that I could count on quality and reliable work. The turn around town was said to be 2-3 weeks for the two covers. I received a call from Bernice that my order was ready about two weeks later and when I went to pick them up the original cushion covers were missing. She advised that she would need to find out from Kay and the person who completed my owner what they did with them, but since it wasn't spelled out on my receipt they throw away the existing covers. I told her that I had repeatedly told her the purpose was to make covers to go over the existing cover and cushion as these would be ones that I could take off after the dog had been on them if he got on the chairs. She was pretty condescending advising that if it was know she would have written it down. She ended up calling the person who completed my order and my original covers were in her car of all places and one was completely taken apart as it was used as a guide for the new covers. I had to wait additionally for them to sew the original cover back together. I had to make an additional trip back later to pick up my order and my original covers and when I advised Kay over the issues that occurred earlier, not to mention the issue that the order was clear when placed, she was pretty nonchalant and advised that it must have been a mistake and proceeded to collect the rest of the original order amount. No apologies, no concessions, nothing for errors that her staff did upon taking the order or their rudeness. This place wasn't cheap and the lack of customer service and fulfilling orders the way a customer requests is a reason to steer clear of this business.

Now to the upholstery, beautiful, I had purchased my own fabric. Planned to just tack it over the old fabric on dinning chairs, ugh! They removed the old fabric, added new wood bases for better support, covers with my fabric and even added cording to finish the look, all in just a few days. Mind you, the chair wasn't damaged at all, & was of a good brand. Best part; it fits me perfectly, I just wasn't crazy about the fabric. I emailed the requested photos and waited for the estimate. I received the estimate in a timely manner and was told what the labor charge would be. Fine. But the the email also stated it would "need 10-12 YARDS of fabric and I might be better off, if I bought a different chair." WTH??? Who are you, to be SO CONDESCENDING to a potential customer?? If you don't want to take a job, you can simply decline politely! Needless to say, my chair is almost done & it required 5 YARDS of fabric. A word of advice for you Elitist Ron: watchout. Karma is a SOB.
