I make raw cat food and need large bowls for the vitamin slurry and then the ground meat and then to mix it all. I got a humungous (19 qt I think is how he described it ) stainless steel bowl for just under $10.00. I can now make the slurry and grind the meat straight into the same bowl. If my kitchen were big enough to accommodate me, I would buy many more supplies from Brigg's.

Briggs roots in Corinth go back generations and quite a few years. The company was started as a…read moretaxi cab concern by Shirley Briggs whose sons and grandsons now run the company. The taxi cab company was known to do some distribution of a different type during the prohibition era which lasted until 1966 in Mississippi. But long before prohibition was repealed in Mississippi, Briggs became a major distributor of tobacco and sundries. Today, Briggs is a major food service and restaurant distributor serving restaurants and schools over the entire state of Mississippi. Local folks take a great deal of pride in this home grown business, still family owned. To disclose a great local food service secret and document some local food history, I will tell you that Briggs carries a great stock barbecue sauce that has been served in Corinth over 60 years that I am personally aware of. When a host of Corinth's earliest food diner's from the 1940's and 1950's, Lewis's, Bruce's and then Fraley's started, they procured their barbecue sauce from a Potato Chip Manufacturer and Distributor called Stewart's Potato Chips which I believe was headquartered in Memphis. When I worked in Washington, DC, in the late 1960's, I would purchase smoked pork shoulders from Fraley's on my visits home along with a gallon of Stewart's barbecue sauce to carry back to where, I thought, good barbecue was impossible to find at the time. Sometime in the late 1960's, Stewart's went out of business or was acquired or otherwise disappeared. I was frantic until I found that Stewart's barbecue sauce had always been made by Pocahontas Foods which was a food co-op owned by a group of major food distributors in Montgomery, Alabama, and had been private labeled from the standard Pocahontas house brand barbecue sauce. Turns out, Briggs Tobacco Distributors locally was shifting their business at that time from largely tobacco and sundries into food products and restaurant supply and they became my source for the next 50 years. Today, the same Pocahontas sauce is available locally private labeled as Brigg's Barbecue Sauce. At about $7 a gallon, it is still a bargain in my opinion. Locally, I go to the Rib Shack where I enjoy it on French Fries just like I did at Fraley's in the 1950's. Another deeply held secret among barbecue restaurants and champion cooking teams across the South is that this sauce is the base for as much as 90% of all "custom" and "secret" sauces out there. Add a little corn syrup and make it sweeter, hot sauce to make it hotter, chili powder or cumin to give it a slight Mexican twist, the variations are endless and the work to make a custom sauce is reduced by a huge factor when you start with something that is pretty darn good to start with. Package it up, put your label on it, and you have your own "custom" barbecue sauce.

I scheduled CleanChamps for a carpet cleaning and move-out cleaning at a Memphis rental property on Saturday, June 28th. I flew in from out of state for the weekend specifically to get this work done before we completed repairs, painting, and walkthroughs with new tenants. The day before the appointment, I received a call asking to reschedule due to a personal emergency with the cleaner. I agreed, and they came on Friday instead. While not ideal, I was flexible and appreciated that they could still come. They arrived Friday 15 minutes late. I explained what needed to be cleaned--including the carpets and walls--and assumed that a "move-out cleaning" would include baseboards, windows, doors, walls, cabinets, etc. My partner and I left them to clean while we ran errands. When we returned later that evening, it was clear the job was not done thoroughly. Dirt remained on walls, baseboards and windows were untouched, and cabinets and drawers were still dirty. We ended up having to finish the cleaning ourselves--on top of the repairs and painting we were already doing--adding unnecessary stress and time pressure. I contacted Kevin the very next morning, explaining the issue and asking for a resolution. He offered a re-clean but said refunds were not possible. Unfortunately, a re-clean was not an option--we were leaving Memphis the next day, and the job was time-sensitive. I followed up again after returning home, trying to schedule a partial re-clean for what was missed. I received no response. When I finally spoke with someone by phone, I was told that a re-clean must be scheduled within 72 hours--something that was never communicated via text or during our earlier conversation. When I brought this up, Kevin said he would talk to his manager, then abruptly hung up. At no point before booking was I made aware that they don't offer refunds or that re-cleans must occur within 72 hours. This policy is buried in the Terms of Service at the bottom of their website--not in any booking email, on their homepage, or in any place a reasonable customer would expect to see it. That's not transparency, and it's not good customer service. I booked their service over the phone and was never shown, sent, or asked to acknowledge their Terms of Service. As such, I had no reasonable way to know about the no-refund or 72-hour re-clean policies. Burying those in a website footer does not constitute informed consent or transparent business practice. Ultimately, we paid $640 for incomplete work, had to finish the job ourselves, and were refused a refund or meaningful follow-up. This created significant stress and wasted our time. I don't take writing negative reviews lightly, but I hope this helps other long-distance property owners avoid the same experience.

That in itself says there's a need for sensitivity. Barbara Kupc's attitude and tone over the telephone is not professional, has an edge to it and simply nasty. She's snappy, quick and does not need to be on the telephone with the public. I asked could I have Attorney Harriet Thompson's email since our conversation was not productive. In the background Attorney Harriet Thompson said, "No, I could not have her email." It's my understanding that the legal services she provides to State of Tennessee are paid for by the state -- for the respective mental health patient. This experience would be exactly what you don't want to deal with an attorney for anything. It is my hope that other family members of mental health patients do not secure the services -- even if it's suggested by Western Mental Health In Bolivar, TN. We're sure it's nice to receive state compensation. As the family members' of state mental health patients, we would like kindness and professionalism in the services rendered -- it's not often, less than twice a year, that you're contacted.
