My husband and I decided that Maree Garner was the one we wanted to photograph our second baby and when the time came, we were extremely glad we did. Maree's warm nature made us feel welcome the moment we stepped inside her door and the task of dealing with an extremely tired, active 2 year old for the family photo's didn't phase her. Maree listened to what we wanted when it came to bubs photos and captured everything beautifully. Her motherly touch and patience were certainly tested as I presented her with an extremely alert week-old baby, however this didn't seem to worry her at all, taking it all in her stride and dedicating the majority of her morning to our session. I was impressed and couldn't wait to see the proofs of the memories she'd captured. Within a week my wishes came true and the toughest job started - sifting through all the wonderful images to choose our favourites. When our wedding photos arrived from Simon we were just taken back to our special day - from leaving the house (and the realisation my father had left his flies down!!) to the lovely old church, to my husbands (I love that word - husband) parents' beautiful garden and finally to the reception in our garden. We could remember every moment, every detail, through Simon's fantastic story in pictures and we laughed and we cried all over again .... All our friends and family thought Simon was a relative of mine from the UK because he just was a part of our day and as a result everyone just relaxed and enjoyed it. We have wonderful memories of our happiest day together so far and we know in the future when we find an old photo it will take us back to that day and that moment and no doubt we will laugh or cry all over again... I am one of those people who just freezes up in front of the camera-- I get nervous and clam up, so photos of me typically generate a "you look much better in real life" response from the people who know me well enough not to lie;-) That's changed with the images Susan captured-- both of me individually, and of my boyfriend and me. Neither of us are very comfortable being photographed, but Susan helped us relax and almost forget the camera was there, but she snapped away, and the pictures she took are literally the best I've ever had. She was very accommodating, and took photos that really showcased our interests and personalities. We both loved her use of light, and felt like the pictures she delivered were really flattering but also natural and captured our personalities. She was so warm and friendly and she and her makeup artist both put me at ease right away, which I really appreciated as I'm camera shy and not comfortable posing. I loved how she made me laugh throughout the session and how she kept up a stream of constructive comments about the colours that looked best and the poses that worked.
