It just sorta pushed over the dirt and it became mountain-like in some areas and grass stopped growing (at least temporarily... we'll see overall). No apology was made on this and his response was that "I'm trying to take advantage". BEWARE: Before the job begins, he should provide a document from his insurance company recognizing you as his client. This is not what he may prefer to do even if he knows to do the right thing. Also, a disclosure on the fact that no debris cleanup would be made on my deck and roof was never discussed. It would have been nice for him to tell me (disclose) the mess to expect after the tree is cut, because my tree hovered over the front of the house. advise that I'd have to hire someone else to clean up the hefty job. No warning about the in between deck slabs either. I would have preferred disclosures to put tarps like painters do over affected areas, and perhaps it should have been a courtesy on his part. Although TLC wasn't the cheapest estimate, I decided to go with them anyway. It was stated in the contract that I would keep all the wood, and the crew would cut it into 16"-20" pieces and stack it. On the day of the removal, the crew showed up two hours late with no phone call or text. I was nervous that they weren't going to show up, so I called Jeremy to touch base. The crew finally arrived, and I went to my neighbor's place just down the street. A few hours later, I saw two trucks leaving my lot loaded with two large tree trunks worth hundreds of dollars in hardwood. I confronted Tom, the site foreman, and he said, "I didn't think you would mind." and said he would "knock a few bucks off the price". I called Jeremy, and he apologized for his crew stealing the wood. He said this has never happed before. While we did come to a discounted price, in retrospect, I should have filed a police report. If you hire TLC, keep a very close eye on their crew. They are obviously not trustworthy. If they were willing to steal from me, it's possible that they have done the same to other customers as well.
