And the cucumbers had too much salt. But it was a generous portion so most people will like it. The schnitzel had very fresh vegetables and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The sauce was very good so I'd tightly recommend it. Portion sizes are good. The decor was fun and the atmosphere good. Our hostess was great. What wasn't good was as our waiter. He didn't give me an extra plate when asked. And as I was finishing my meal he hovered over me waiting to take my fork and plate. Not cool as he made me feel rushed. Every component felt like it was shipped in and mostly loaded with salt and preservatives. My double cheeseburger was... not fresh beef. Maybe frozen patties. The fries look fresh cut in photos from years ago on yelp but now they're bright yellow frozen style ones. No one liked their meals. I suspect this place decided to cut its food costs and switched to all generic products that come frozen. We decided to pull this place from our sports bar rotation. Hope it improves.

We sat at "the snug" bar hidden in a back room (sounds cooler than it was). We started with fries, which were cooked nicely to a golden brown but tasted dry as a bone! They could have used some (or a lot of) seasoning. No salt/pepper was provided and our bartender was missing most of the time so we couldn't ask for it. Thank goodness for ketchup! For my meal, I ordered the "beef & feta toastie" with a side salad. It tasted like a steak & cheese sub and a grilled cheese sandwich had a baby. And even though I like feta, swiss and arugula, the taste of the combination inside my sandwich was odd/not that great. But I'd still say the sandwich was on good quality bread that was toasted perfectly. My favorite part of my meal was the dressing that came with my side salad; I could have drank it out of a cup, it was that good! My husband had the chicken pot pie and said it was just ok. We weren't impressed with this place but I would still recommend checking it out and deciding for yourself ;)

It is not easy to gain access to this place…read more I arrived here at noon on a sunday, eager to start a UYE day drinking campaign. The door was locked, and the windows were opaque. I wasn't sure if the bar was abandoned, closed, or if they were just unwilling to accept my business. Moments later, what could only be a "regular" sullenly unlocked and opened the door for me. I asked "are you open?" and got an affirmative grunt in response. Master McGrath's is actually quite spacious and clean; the bar has about 15 seats, and is well-lined with small flat-screen TVs, the better to see the Sox beat the snot out of the O's. They have an internet jukebox, and a popcorn machine for free snacking. I knew right away that I was in a bar frequented almost exclusively by regulars; the surprisingly cute female bartender was eager to prepare drinks for the customers walking *in from the back door* before they sat down. I received a fairly standard silent-treatment half hour, followed by a cautious inclusion in some casual conversation. Being a gregarious individual, I soon was laughing and chatting with the regulars, and even had one of them buy me a drink, a favor I returned later. I was not able to get a Jameson - the man who bought me the drink explained that "if there's a bottle of Jameson, I'll drink it all." Of course, I didn't know if he was a manager, owner, or regular customer, but he is apparently important enough to the management that in an Irish pub, they don't stock Jameson. The buffalo fingers are top feckin' shelf. Definitely worth ordering. Hyde Park is a neighborhood that could use some more folks making the trip down to see. Lisa, the bartender, is cute and friendly, and will chat you up about shark week. All in all, not a bad way to spend three hours on a Sunday afternoon.

For our main dishes, I ordered the pistachio‑crusted haddock with grilled vegetables, while my colleague chose the fajitas. The dinner special was the highlight for me: the haddock was incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly, and wonderfully moist with a delicate, flaky texture. I loved it. My colleague said the fajitas were fine, though not particularly memorable for his taste. Service throughout the evening was excellent, especially considering the crowd. Overall, I really enjoyed our meal and the attentive service. I'd happily return the next time I'm in town.
