Looking for poor communication, unreliable service, and a shotty job that never gets fixed? Used this company to plumb out a job for one of my customers. Here's what happened: - They left cigarette butts all over the floor in my customers HOME... - Pitched shower base the wrong way so water pools on the opposite side of the drain. - Installed another shower horribly. Walls were not cut straight and he filled it with globs of silicone. Left it all dirty and there's dirt mixed into the silicone permanently now. - I had to pay $2700 for a new shower to be installed because it was ruined. They said they would reimburse me but have not. (They've also been ignoring my calls) - Damaged the roof when installing vent pipes (I paid $2100 for roof repairs) - 0 INSULATION USED on the pipes in the floor. Tried to say they don't need it but it's actually code to insulate. Me and my client had to insulate them ourselves. - No clips used to hold up vent pipes from falling. All the weight was held up by the joints of the pipes. That stress is not good. - Missed a clip on a drain pipe in the ceiling (also pitched wrong so the drain would've backed up every time used.) when the inspector asked them about it they blamed the homeowner saying someone must've removed it?! LOL really guys?? - Water leaked through the damaged roof and caused damage to ceiling insulation, and BRAND NEW plaster. - I paid $1,450+ for new insulation and plaster repairs. Shall I say more? That's not even to mention the lack of communication between them as a company. The boss had no idea the project was even going on. The desk lady (the only bearable person in the whole company) had no idea about the project either. She didn't even know what I was supposed to pay when I called. The guys would be early, late, not show up, show up unannounced. 0 consistency, 0 respect for my and my customers time. Now they owe me thousands of dollars, said they'd pay it back and have been ignoring my calls and texts for about 4 months. STAY AWAY FROM J JOYCE PLUMBING!!! read more

Needed a dryer hooked up. Michael from company came and was on time and a very pleasant guy. Dryer needed more than expected because old house was out of code. Even ran out to get vent piping to make the make new vent, because I bought wrong one. Over all great worker, work done and at a very fair price. Our pipes burst in our basement and the whole network of pipes had to be replaced. It was a Friday of a long holiday weekend and we had no running water, toilets, sinks, etc. We called J. Joyce Plumbing and they had a TEAM of guys at our house within the hour! They cut put all the original cast iron pipes and replaced all with PVC pipes in a matter of a few short hours. The team was courteous, professional and we had water. They could have made us wait until the Tuesday after the long weekend, but they took care of us immediately because they have COMPASSION! I never would let him in if he wasn't going to install it this common sense. But to make matters worse he then want to see a PVC pipe that Plumber John Counts installed and said he installed it backwards. I knew he was lying about it because he had John Counts in his phone. J Joyce thought I was going to believe it so that he could make better money installing a PVC pipe again that John Counts installed properly. We moved to Warwick four years ago. It was convenient to have a plumber down the road from us. Heard nothing but good reviews. They replaced our heating system when we first moved in. They used to do great work but unfortunately, the workers give the business a bad rep. Instead of owning up to their mistakes or doing their job thoroughly, they love love love to blame the us (the owners of the house). They love to tell us that we are the reason why our heat isn't working or that we touch the heating system and it's the reason why our hot water all of a sudden doesn't work. Why would we purposely touch a heating system just for us to end up with no hot water or heat? What purpose does that serve us as owners of a home? Who wants to sleep through the night in the cold with a six month old baby in the house voluntarily? Not I! No one has ever touched that heating system other than the workers from J . JOYCE! We've had them come in twice this week and all they did was come in the house and walk right out. Tell us, "It's fixed. Should be working in a few." Just to end up not working. The owner of the business cares (met him twice or so) but he definitely needs to check up on his workers to see the kind of work they do and to have them check their tone and attitude when they speak to their customers. After another plumber installed a new hot water heater, my furnace stopped working. I called them and they said that they didn't do HVAC work and recommended Joyce. After repeated calls the guy came by and told me that I would have to replace the furnace, that it was too old. I saved money for several months and had to rely on electric heaters to keep from freezing. After three months I thought I had enough money to buy a new furnace. I started looking online to see what my options might be. They an also had some trouble shooting things to look at before buying a new unit. After running up my electric bill, I opened the furnace to look at the possible trouble spots and realized that the pilot had gone out and nervously relit it. When the hot water heater was replaced they shut off the gas. The thermal couple had worked and the furnace had shut down. Neither company had even bothered to take a look at the furnace. After the pilot was relit, the furnace is fine. I am very disappointed with the company its performance and attitude. With all the flooding lately I understand how busy plumbers are, but this would have been a 10 minute fix, had they looked. I definitely do not recommend this company. I was cold for months because the boss didn't take the time to even look at the problem. read more

J Joyce Plumbing is probably the worst plumbers I've ever had. They came to my house to connect a new kitchen sink, replace an anti- sweat valve and repair two toilets. After they left, the kitchen sink drain was leaking underneath at the trap, plumbers putty was oozing out from the drain inside the sink, the water was too warm in the toilets causing condensation on the lid and is dripping on the floor and hot water comes out of the cold taps on the kitchen sink temporarily when first turned on. What?????! They came back the next day and fixed the leaking drain in the kitchen and tried to adjust the anti sweat valve and said the water should cool off. After many phone calls I got them to come back a third time and look at the anti sweat valve again. They tried to adjust it further but could not and then insisted that the water temperature was fine. 120 degree water in your toilet is not only incorrect it causes other problems as described above. They insist that the valve is fine for my application and they don't know what a residential anti sweat valve looks like. The one they installed is for a boiler and only has a adjustment range of 120-160 degrees. Too warm for a residential toilet. I wouldn't recommend that you have them do any work in your house. read more

Highly recommend. My old cast iron waste pipe in the wall was leaking. Joe and Taylor came out and raced a rotted section, but the discovered it was rotted higher up, so they tore into more wall and were able to reach the bad section. They charged a reasonable amount for the time and work they put in. I'll definitely call them again for any future work. read more

Bought a home a year ago, and developed a leak that was showing up in the basement. J Joyce plumbing arrived on the date I requested, tracked the leak down (J Joyce is the pipe whisperer) and fixed it. they also changed a spigot handle or whatever you call it, that was stuck in the half closed position for the pipe that feeds water into my house. Cost: $250 total for fixing the leaking pipe and changing the spigoty thing. I can't imagine any plumbing issue costing less. Nice local family owned business. I would call them again for any plumbing issues. read more

I would not recommend. They were supposed to come back to hook up gas line connectors for 2 appliances as part of price I paid. I wanted Joe Joyce to write that on the paid bill. He said that "my word is good and my name is on the truck". I contacted them numerous times about coming out to finish the work. There was always an excuse why they could not come out to complete the work. The office manager gave me Joe's number. I called him. He told me that he did that "kind of side work on Saturdays". He told me to call back during the week and he would come out on Saturday. I called him on Wednesday to ask about completing the work that Saturday. He told me he had no idea what I was talking about and to call his brother. He was abrupt and nasty on the phone. I called and left many messages for Jimmy with no response. I finally reached the office manager about the situation with Joe. She said he gets that way and left a message for Jimmy to call me back. I never heard back from anyone.
