Neither staff not Veterinarian are pet friendly. Took my dog there and she was horribly mis-diagnosed.

I have a beautiful cockapoo as well as a very handsome miniature poodle. They are very precious to…read moreme and I take the best care of them as I possibly can. One night this week as we were going through our daily grooming ritual, I felt a lump on my cockapoo that was roughly the size of a walnut. This was in an area where I clean daily and it hadn't been there the night before so I was worried. I called Halfmoon Valley Animal Hospital early the following morning and asked for an emergency appointment for the next day. I didn't even ask for a same day appointment knowing how busy they always are so I was surprised when they offered me an appointment for the same afternoon which I gratefully accepted. They diagnosed an issue their groomer had missed (on both of them), rectified it and crises over. I felt like I received an incredible gift with my dogs being patients of this practice. No matter the issue, regular checkup, medications, or emergency visits the vets, assistants and office staff show professionalism, compassion and patience with each issue. They treat my dogs with genuine kindness and gentleness and the more I depend on my dogs as my service animals the more I tend to forget that they aren't human. Fortunately, they strike a perfect balance and I'm grateful for their services. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who has pets that may be more like family as after several years patronage they have never let me down. Thank you

They take payment immediately - you are out the $165 fee to start. While I try to be patient and understanding , it is also incredibly frustrating to have to wait so long. Their process is for you to wait alone in the waiting room while they have taken your pet to be "observed". They triage and take highest priority animals first- we arrived at 5PM and left at 1AM. Paid $165 +$275 for bloodwork and $275 X-ray plus more for medicines. They offered hospitalization as one more expensive treatment option- we opted to our dog home and care for her there. They were thorough and she seemed to receive good care. I did not have concerns about the care 3 stars - I was not a fan of the process, and length of wait .

I completed the paperwork and paid my $165 and requested to see my dog. They said she was being evaluated. I said if she's dying, I want to be with her. They told me I couldn't see my dog while they were evaluating her. I waited an hour and asked again and was refused. I have never been to a vet that won't allow you to be your dog. I argued with them for hours about wanting to see her. After 4 hours I told them to bring her to me, and I would take her elsewhere. I was so angry. I took her to Metzger where I have gone before with my other lab. They prefer that you stay with your dog. I only went CPVETS because my vet referred me. Never again.
