Specialties
j81 Studios LLC is a strictly B2B commercial photography studio in Granville, MA, working with manufacturers, agencies, and brands across Western New England — Springfield, Westfield, Holyoke, Northampton, Hartford, and throughout the Northeast.
We shoot business. Nothing else.
Commercial product photography — hero shots, e-commerce imagery, white-background catalog and point-of-sale work, packaging, and styled advertising sets built light by light.
Corporate and executive headshots — in-studio or on-location, single sessions or full team rollouts. Business tools, not vanity portraits.
Brand and behind-the-scenes photography — factory floors, shop operations, service crews, real people doing real work. Documents a company without staging it into a stock photo.
Advertising campaigns — full production, art directed end to end, built for a media plan rather than a gallery wall.
Industries we work in regularly: industrial manufacturing, cutting tools, machining, food and beverage, breweries and distilleries, furniture, construction, banking, legal, insurance, and professional services.
Before the studio, our founder spent 17 years in advertising — agency art director, then in-house creative director. Every asset is built to drop straight into a campaign, website, catalog, or sell sheet.
No weddings, no families, no events, no senior portraits. Commercial only.

History
Established in 2017.
j81 Studios started with a gap in the market: executive headshots in Western New England were either done in a mall studio or not done at all.
The work moved from headshots into full brand photography — factory floors, product lines, campaign imagery — because clients who trusted us with their leadership team started asking who was shooting their catalog.
Today we operate a dedicated commercial studio in Granville, MA, built for product and tabletop work, with location production across the Northeast. We've photographed a drum company making instruments since 1854, cutting tool manufacturers, breweries, banks, construction firms, and plenty of companies most people have never heard of but whose parts are in something they own.
The work is brand building. Photography is the method — a consistent visual system a company runs across its website, catalog, trade show booth, sales collateral, and social channels.
Meet the Business Owner: Jon J.
I spent 17 years in design and advertising before I charged anyone for a photograph — seven years as an art director at a regional agency, then in-house, then five years as Creative Director at a national tool manufacturer.
That order matters. I sat on the client side long enough to know what happens to an image after it leaves the photographer: cropped for a banner ad, dropped into a catalog grid, blown up on a trade show wall, and handed to a sales team that needs it Thursday. I shoot with that in mind.
So the conversation starts with what the images have to do, not what gear I'm bringing. Where is this running. Who's seeing it. What is it supposed to make them think.
Two ADDY awards, two Western Mass Ad Club awards for photography, published in GD USA. Ad Club of Western Mass, Westfield Chamber of Commerce, NPPA.
