Small loaded fries, 1 cheeseburger, 2 regular burgers and 4 mini dogs.

My review of Jack's Drive in. The bees, Holy Marry Mother of God the bees. Ok having said that let's move on. 1 cheeseburger, small loaded fries and a bottle of water for her while I went with 2.burgers, 4 mini dogs and a root beer. $29 and change. In short, aside from the mini dogs I've had better food in prison. Seriously. Bees. They don't bother me normally but they were EVERYWHERE while my better 1/2 is deathly allergic to the point of carrying an Epi pen. I finally said screw it, we tossed our food and left. We will not be returning.

Seems like a great local burger place. I've been hearing great things so me and my friends decided to give it a try. Everyone loved it! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have outdoor seating or you can eat it in your car. I didn't really love the cheese fries - but I think that's more of a personal thing. Keep in mind the burgers are slider sized so probably best to order more than 1 if you're hungry. They also have a price difference for cash vs card.

Interesting place worth trying if you haven't tried it. It's close to one of the places I work so I stop in now and then to get a slider or two.

Jacks is a small Joint, with to go or outside picnic tables. Locals love this spot. They have great burgers and cheese fries. Can't forget the milkshake, too! They also sell hotdogs and soda. They are fast to get your good to you and it is always delicious! A must stop if it in the Wynantskill area!!!!

Lunch with my aunt is always at jacks

Just go here. Solid grubby burrito that needs to be tasted by one to fully understand. It's a culture. It's a staple. I'm not biased. I judge every burger differently, and jacks takes the cake for slider. My aunt went earlier in the season (first week of opening) and mentioned it was less than great probably due to the grills not being greasy and dirty enough. She we absolutely right. The service is always spot on and FAST. The prices are very reasonable, and you can fill up for less than $10pp. Go here

    Two cheeseburgers with "heavy" onions

I have been here multiple times and had not figured out how to review Jack's until my last visit, where I decided to climb into the tiger's maw and order not just the notorious sauteed onions on my cheeseburgers, but DOUBLE onions which are called "heavy" in Jack's nomenclature. And you know what? It's A-OK but not more than that. I think a lot of us are so entranced by the thought of eating something so funky and smelling so stinky for days that you look past the fact it's a pretty average burger. Okay meat, sad little bun, the lethal onions, a squirt of ketchup, and sloppy assembly which is part of the charm. Like a boxing pro, Jack wants to toy with you a little before he knocks you out. My kid insisted we sit at the bench right by the ordering window, and I noticed something interesting. It's a distinct minority that order burgers with onions. (And nobody but me orders them "heavy".) Most order "no onions" and I think Jack actually sells quite a few more mini hot dogs than burgers. As usual, trust the locals.

I'm on team Lauren L. with this one. Every year when spring rolls around, I had been hearing people talk about Jack's for burgers. And every year, summer would turn to fall and I never seemed to make it a priority to head out to Wynantskill for these sliders. It didn't quite seem like anything really that special. Part of me thought that perhaps you had to grow up with Jack's as an annual tradition to really enjoy it. So instead, I went other places. Then I stumbled upon Lauren's review which said that Jack's was all about the onions. She's right. Holy cow, was she right. The onions I got on my burger weren't simply grilled. They were deeply caramelized. And maybe I got lucky. Perhaps on some days when they get slammed the grill has the rush the onions and they're simply greasy and grilled. But that was not my experience. It turns out my son has a new found love for burgers. But he only likes them when they are very flat. Plus, he will only eat them with ketchup and nothing else. Jack's totally worked for him too. We shared an order of fries, which were crispy and totally unimpeachable. Although, I'm not really crazy about ketchup being served on the fries instead of in a cup on the side for dipping. But that's a small matter. Call me a light weight, but one onion cheeseburger and a half order of fries was enough food for me. Was I stuffed? No. But I was satisfied. And more importantly, I had saved room for dessert. Which is important on trips out there, because it's mighty close to a very special seasonal ice cream stand.

Jack's Drive-In is a popular burger takeout restaurant, which is open mid March to mid November and closed during the winter months. Xmas trees are sold here during the holiday season. Jack's Drive-In and Ted's Fish Fry are operated by the same family ownership. The burgers (aka "sliders") here are very greasy and loaded with ketchup and fried greasy onions, but taste pretty darn good!! I can smell strong aromas of the Jack's sliders into the McDonald's parking lot! The french fries here are great too! Order a chocolate milk for a great tasting meal! I know folks from a large radius (some as far away as Queensbury and Broadalbin) who flock here just for the "sliders." I usually see long lines form here on nice sunny weekend days. One of my childhood friends loves Jack's so much, that he arrived here at 7:45 AM on opening day just to be the first customer of the season. He waited almost 3.5 hours for the 11 AM opening with his newspaper and large Stewart's coffee on a cold rainy March morning. YNN and CBS 6 also interviewed him.

5 stars all day Seasonal drive ins like this are an American institution. This is classic, fresh, burgers and dogs. Come on a busy day and you'll never see so many happy people eating burgers and fries. Reviews here around rude staff or picky food are from individuals that don't "get it". Come here, order two cheese "with" , cheese fries and a Pepsi and embrace a fading American tradition.

    Ask the Community - Jack's Drive-In

Does anyone know if Jack's offers catering for weddings? Also, would it cost money to rent the venue or is it free? Thanks in advance.

What a coincidence! I've got a friend who's wondering the same thing. He's recently engaged and has always wondered if Jack's would cater his wedding. Fingers crossed he loves Jack's and would be soooooooo excited!

Someone told me that Jack's Drive-In had veggie burgers last season, and I'm asking everyone if that's true?!! "I'll be so psyched", I said to the kid, and "hey, that's vegetarian...not a meat burger with lot's of vegetable toppings on it,right🙄?"

I didn't notice it on the menu

We had just come from a drive around the NY capitol building and, whatever way the GPS brough us, it said that we had "arrived" when we were still on Delaware Ave. We were looking into an empty storefront and we were worried. But we turned the corner onto Central and were overjoyed to see McCant's. We couldn't tell if it was open from the street but we pressed our luck, parking and walking about a block. They were open! Yay! You can order at a kiosk/screen. Our group each went with a different dog, our group ending up with a Memphis, a Slaw Dog, and a New Yorker. We shared an order of fries. The food was ready quickly and as the food got off the folks behind the counter made sure everything looked good to us (it did!). My Mom gave her New Yorker 5 stars. Great flavor with the sauerkraut and onion sauce. My Aunt gave her Slaw Dog 4.75 stars. Tons of cole slaw (maybe a touch too much). I'd give my Memphis Dog 3.75. The McCants chili is pretty loose, liquidy and there is plenty of it on this top (maybe a touch too much). I didn't think the bun stood a chance against all the liquid toppings but, with some delicate handling, it made it through the whole eating experience. Phew. It was good but I think the chili really dominated the other toppings. The fries were great. Really well-seasoned. The folks behind the counter made sure we had a tasty experience as we left. I'd definitely come back here! I'm eyeing that Fire Truck!

Well, it's what they use at Katz's in NYC. Except at Katz's they apparently boil the pastrami before serving it so it totally falls apart. That's what I learned from the passionate fellow behind the counter today. Well, that, and they had no pastrami prepared for sandwiches. Well, I'll just have to come back. For years I've been told of the legend of this place. The place where Old World Provisions meats are sliced and served on bread for a pittance. A manufacturing facility where there is a small retail operation that's open to the public. Helmbold Fritz is like a beacon on a hill. Well, it's on a hill at least. It's a bit tucked away in the warehouse district around the corner from the Franklin Ballroom. And when you pull into the driveway, you have to go around back to get to the front door. It's almost as if they don't want you there. But they totally want you there. Kinda. When I called to ask if they were open for lunch, the response was, "Lunch? We open at 11." I'm unclear if the wooden picnic table around the back of the deli was actually meant for visitors of if its for employees, but we decided to stick around and eat there instead of having a car picnic. It was a glorious day. Part of me is a bit worried about coming back here for pastrami. Because if it's half as good as I suspect it will be, it might be hard to keep me away. That fifth star is being reserved until I try their signature products. But I promise to report back.

It being July 4th, Independence Day, I thought it would be an appropriate day to enjoy a hot dog. Just ask Joey Chestnut! I'm not going to reduce my # of *s because we really enjoyed our food and beverages. But I do have to question what I had to drink. The board said it was an Ommegang Grande Tripel stout at 5.5 ABV ($9). That level of ABV would be reasonable for a stout, but the color of the brew was golden like a typical Tripel, and not dark like the typical Stout. The bartender gave us a sample, and it was full of flavor with my wife noticing the vanilla tones that were described by the bartender. I didn't initially identify any specific flavor other than delicious and different than I would have expected from a stout. I also would not take issue with the posted 5.5 ABV. HOWEVER, a quick reference to Ommegang online as I write this says that it is a Belgium Tripel and the ABV is 9. Yes, NINE ABV! I would definitely have noticed if I were drinking a 9 ABV on an empty stomach. I also would have noticed it driving the car after finishing a pint within one hour. For those familiar with Utah Phillips, "It was good though!" But on to the food. We ordered a shareable Tot-Chos ($12.99) consisting of tater tots, tomatoes, avocado, cheese sauce, pickled jalapeños, and chipotle aioli. These were very tasty and not too spicy, with crispy on the outside and soft on the inside tots. My wife ordered the Sooo Cali ($10.99) hot dog. The black angus beef hot dog is very tasty even before it is topped with wild arugula, tomato, avocado, crispy onion strings, and spicy basil aioli. The combined flavors work well together on the Kings Hawaiian rolls. My choice was to try the Hogfather ($10.99) - a pork bratwurst with bacon chipotle onion jam, chipotle aioli, and miso ranch. The bratwurst was delicious and again, the flavors worked well together. BTW, my wife had a Grimm Nothing But Citra ($8), an IPA that even I found acceptable. We really need to return here more frequently.
