If I could give negative stars I would. I don't review anything or anybody on the internet. I just don't go back to places like this. That said stay away. I was damn near extorted out of an additional fifteen hundred dollars. I have dental insurance which had covered my visit fully. I was told that no matter what the insurance paid, that I would have to pay an additional fifteen hundred dollars. THERE WAS NO MISUNDERSTANDING!!!!! I had three people pounding it in to my head! After speaking with my carrier, I found out that JFD is under contract with them(which I knew) and had NO BUSINESS demanding one more dime(which I didnt know). They (both the "Dr" and the front desk) made absolutely sure that I was aware of the additional charges before I walked out the door. Those poor girls are now part(probably involuntarily since they most likely need the job) of a conspiracy to commit improper transactions against the consumer. After finding out that shady demands were made I quite frankly didn't even want to go back but I needed to get the job done. I just wanted to get away from them as fast as humanly possible.I felt that I would have been scammed if I hadn't had a family member who straightened me out with regard to how dental insurance works. I spoke directly with the "Dr" on the matter who suggested that I don't "badmouth" him on social media. That was his concern. I kept my promise until today. The work has failed less than a year later. The margins are so bad(two outside reliable dentists agree)that now it will be several thousands of dollars to repair/replace the work from September a year ago. Despite a combination of outrages and the feeling of being SCREWED by substandard work I kept my promise to not say anything ....until now. I was promised that the work would last me the rest of my life. That promise was broken. That means all bets are off with regard to me "just don't badmouth me". I'll take a lie detector test to confirm this entire story. I guarantee he won't. Of course if JFD would would like to dispute this story they can try but that would be a huge mistake. Take the hit of this review and move on would be my advice. If JFD would lIke to cover my upcoming expenses as a result of their failure I'd be amenabe to that. Off to Trenton Monday. Terrible terrible terrible across the board. The dentist in the family has failed me big time. Thanks for nothing(except a four grand bill) If I HAD paid the additional fifteen hundred without knowing what I now know, I'd have called the police to see if fraud was a viable complaint. After visiting a different dentistry group that told me I needed 6 root canals (when I knew my teeth did not need that amount of work), I called Jackson Family Dentistry and they booked me 2 days later. I explained to the doctor (Dr. Sclafani) what was happening and he confirmed that he is very conservative and came back with 3 root canals needed. We did all the xrays again and came up with a plan. I started on my plan and while I am very pressed with time/life, I plan on going back soon to finish up the remainder of work needed. Doctor Sclafani is a really nice, down to earth guy and understood what I wanted to do and took the time to listen. The #1 most important thing a dentist needs to do is LISTEN and OBLIGE wherever possible - And Dr. Sclafani did that for me. His front office were very friendly and chatty and so far all is going great. Nice guy, nice staff and a nice family atmosphere. read more

I had been to couple other dentists before finding Jackson Family Dentistry, and was never able to complete the plan that had been put together. My teeth needed a lot of work and at Jackson Family Dentistry I was finally able to get my teeth back onto track. Spent no longer than two minutes in the waiting room. Well experienced and no BS. Very interesting to see how different the reviews are on Yelp from the ones here on Google. Unfortunately I don't have a great overall experience here. At first when I went there the office was clean, the front staff was nice and the Dr. Scafani seemed nice enough, quick and knowledgeable. My mother eventually started coming here because my experiences have been average. My mother got 2 partials in her mouth and the dentist did work with her on the price. Yet over time once I asked for an updated bill so it can be seen what she has paid for tax time, the numbers weren't adding up quite right. And then it was noticed that he put in a claim that he did a filling on two teeth that are not even in my mothers mouth. He actually was the dentist that wrote the referral to an oral surgeon to have them taken out. It took longer than it should to get to the bottom with it, but the secretary was patient yet who's fault it was, no one admitted to it. I went for a cleaning and x rays and was told I had at least 6-8 cavities that need to be filled with fillings.. I went to another dentist office for a second opinion since my insurance changed. It was a drastic difference in professionalism. I was told I had 2 cavities that needed root canals, if I had fillings they were so close to the nerve I would feel it, and then the others haven't broken the surface yet so if I use fluoride mouthwash for 6 months it could reverse the process, and they would check back at my next cleaning. Interesting how different of a response I got. My mother just went to a new dentist for a cleaning and was told that 4 teeth that Dr. Scalfani did fillings on should have been caps and one of her teeth keep breaking because of the work he has done, to keep the integrity of her teeth she needed caps all along. The new dentist for my mother even showed her a picture of her teeth currently in the back and why fillings should have never been done to the teeth. I was not going to put in a review online rather just word of mouth if someone asked about it, but now hearing that my mother needs to pay almost 3000 dollars for work to fix something that should have never been done, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I saw Dr. Schlafani once. Never again. He claimed I needed 3 filings on teeth I was sure were healthy (as I just saw another dentist and an oral surgeon less than a month ago). He filled my teeth and did such a sloppy job; it actually gave me a crooked bite-down! I later had to have another dentist remove the fillings and fix my teeth. We went to family dentistry for dental work. I was extremely pleased with the work that was performed. Dr. Schlafini was great! He really helped me with my dental work. I was in extreme pain and they managed to fit me in. They did a great job on fixing my filling that came out...and my toothache. I want to thank them so much for saving me from my pain!!! My friends told me about Jackson Family Dentistry. They told me how nice the office was and how patient and gentle Dr.Sclafani was. I had a problem with my previous dentist. They told me that I needed 6000 dollars worth of work. I went to Dr.Sclafani for a second opinion. Dr.Sclafani spent an hour with me reviewing my case and determined that the work that I needed was much less substantial and that he could do the work for about half of the price. He offered me care credit which allowed me to pay over 12 months with no interest. The work was done beautifully. I was very pleased with how nice the office was and I now bring my children. This is a great office I would highly recommend Jackson Family Dentistry!!!!! read more

Do not go to this dentist! It has taken me over a year to repair the shoddy work that he has done! He promised me to return my money for a bridge he made that was terrible I was not able to chew with it! He filed down my lower teeth flat so I really was not able to chew. I needed a totally new bridge and a crown on the bottom teeth because of his damage! Should not be practicing dentistry!!! read more

I highly recommend you to NOT go to this guy. Him and his entire staff are pretty awful, generally inept, and bound to send you home slightly traumatized. In my personal experience, he has missed cavities (which turned into root canals with MAJOR pain), botched fillings, and had made assessments that were WRONG and invalidated by other dentists. Dr. Sclafani has zero patience and wants to get you out ASAP, which is something that always rubbed me the wrong way. I will NEVER go back to this asshole. read more

My husband had an EXTREMELY negative experience here! They are just out for your money it is a SCAM! The last straw last was when he came in with tooth pain on a Friday, the dentist performed 2 fillings. Before the Novocaine wore off (which happened to be by the time they 'd closed) he was in severe pain. We left messages, they never called us back. We were referred by their voice mail to an Oral surgeon, who gave him pain killers & and antibiotic. He couldn't eat or sleep all weekend. Monday morning when we went back, the dentist taps around re-aggrivating the teeth, and tells my husband to take 2 Advil and attempted to schedule him for a root canal Thursday of the following week - 10 DAYS! When I started to get upset, it was then they said they had something open that Thursday. Really?! His face looked like he had a softball in his mouth! I immediately call my parent's dentist and upon investigating the x-rays they said he should have never filled these teeth, and it actually required an extraction of one of the teeth. So basically, this guy was attempting to get paid for the filling, have him come back and get paid for the root canal, and after purchasing a crown, then have him pay for extraction and implant/bridge - all while my husband SUFFERED. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST, HE IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM ARTIST! read more
