Review for Hepler Homes. Our home is 1.5 yrs. old and has been nothing but hell. Four months into…read moreour brand new home, we had so many problems we hired an independent inspector who had a 20+ report of violations or shoddy workmanship. The county had 3 pages of violations/corrections. We reported this builder to DPOR who cited him with 7 violations, including the usage of 5 non-licensed sub-contractors. We could write a book. We built in the mountains. Hepler never shot tangents. He thought the difference between the front to back of our house was 6'. It was 17'. AFTER he excavated and poured our foundation, he called and said he needed an additional 20K to cover the costs. We are on 5 acres and could have easily moved the house IF we had been given the courtesy of being asked. Our upstairs floors heaved and shower all cracked. This was deemed "acceptable" by Dave. Thank god the tile installer had pride in his work, came and fixed the floor, at no cost to us. Our inspector referred to our drywall and tape job as the worst he'd ever seen. Turned out they were one of the unlicensed. Eight months into our home, an entire crew was necessary for a week to redo the job. The clean up was horrible. Investigate your builder as best you can. Many are hiring cheap labor. The builders don't charge you less, they just pad their pockets.
