They were very friendly, and the owners (Father and son) are onsite; which means they take care that the business runs well and look forward to repeat customers. Not a great experience here despite the other good reviews. I needed some plastic rivets (a few dollars online but decided to not wait) and they charged me $20+ and did not even have the correct size or add the correct amount (about 6 were missing and they put 2 in). Had my front brakes done and still had squeaking on the car, they looked it over and said they werent sure why. When I brought my car to the dealership I was advised my rear brakes were worn and needed to be changed, this solved the issue. Why couldnt jacobs garage identify that? read more

my car makes an audible clicking noise when braking lightly, i took it to Honda and Japtech. both places heard the noise but could not find the problem. the pads and rotors have less than 5000 miles on them. i read about Jacob's Garage online and decided to give them a try. after test driving my car and removing the rear wheels the manager tells me the rear calipers are locking up and need to be replaced along with the rear pads. i said OK but what is making the noise ? he says the calipers. i told him a sticking caliper does not make a clicking noise and the pads are almost new. he got all upset and told the mechanic to put the wheels back on and told me to leave. i asked him to explain how the caliper is making noise but he refused. these guys are thieves and crooks and should not be trusted, not to mention the mechanic looked like a homeless bum (literally) read more

An update to my initial review. This garage is the worst. Customer service and honoring your word means nothing in this place. I initially brought my car here because of the yelp reviews, and with having recently moved to the area, I was delighted to have found a shop that seemed to have happy customers. Clearly I should have paid more attention "Dave C.'s" review because I have a similar story. Two weeks after having the car serviced, my engine light came back on, and the car started to shake and drive really badly. I brought it back to them right away, and they "reset" the light, without fixing the issue. He said that one of the codes misfired and it only needed to be reset. 1.5 more weeks go by, and the same thing happens again. This time he uses his machine to figure out what the codes mean, and he says I will need to bring the car back to be looked at because they are so busy and couldn't do it that same day. He reset the code again. This time, another couple weeks go by and I bring it to them once more. At this point, I'm really frustrated, and want them to take the time to figure out the problem instead of prematurely diagnosing it without really looking at it. Once again, I'm told that they are too busy, and are nearing closing, and that I should make an appointment and come back. I'm told that I would be seen right away, and won't have to wait, and they would fix the car without a problem since the problem is recurring, and it appears to be a faulty part (that they provided with the first fix, and was still under warranty). I'm told that they will honor the warranty and figure it out without a problem. There were 3 of them there that day: Zvi, his brother, and Andrew. All seemed to be in agreement of what I needed to do. So, that's what I decided to do. 2 days later, I call the shop at 7:30am, right as they open, to confirm that it would be alright to bring the car in that day for service. Andrew quickly tells me 2pm was the best time to come in. I ask him multiple times if that was truly alright, because since they close at 5:30, I didn't want to be told that they would need more time due to closing. Mind you, I took the day off to go there first thing in the morning. My intuition told me that there would be another problem with the time once I got there, but I believed Andrew since he was so adamant about it. Also, he was so quick to rush me off the phone, he didn't collect my name or number. He then pretends to find me in the system and says, "oh, I see you....you already had an appointment for early this week. 2pm is fine." This isn't true because I had not given them a date or time, since I had previous commitments that it would have to move around first. I called him out on it, and says no, that he's correct, and that 2 pm is fine. So I show up at 2pm, and of course. I'm told that I never had an appointment. And that I should have came first thing in the morning at 7:30am when they opened. The guy apologizes for Andrew's screw up, and tells me that there's no way they'll be able to figure out what's wrong in that time frame...since closing is at 5:30pm. He suggests that I return the next day at 7:30am to drop the car off to give them more time. Are you freaking kidding me?!!! I'm beyond pissed at this point. We go back and forth for a while, and never come to a viable solution other than have them reset it once more, and return when they have more time, earlier in the day. By now, I'm overly emotional and crying and just so upset, and feeling like I'm being taken advantage of. He gives me no other solutions, and his attempt at empathy is poor. His mother then butts in and tells me that if I'm unhappy with the service, that I shouldn't come back. It takes a random stranger walking by to intervene and try to figure out what's going on. He gets me to calm down and speaks with the guy in the shop on my behalf. Again, the solution is to reset the light and return when they have more time...sometime next week. A week! Really?!! He goes on to put on a show for the other customers about how proud he is of his business and what it stands for, and how he guarantees his work, and will give me a refund if they are unable to fix my car...and blah, blah, blah. I don't believe a word of it. I just go back outside and wait for him to reset it...which he does...but of course, within moments the lights come back on. At this point, I'm beyond fed up, and just decide to take my car to Honda. At least I know they won't give me a hard time or run around, and truly guarantee the work...although pricing would be quite higher. When I bring the car to Honda, the mechanic brings me into the repair area to show me the problem. He shows me each cylinder coil, and shows me that Jacob's shop had replaced the WRONG coil!!!! They were supposed to repair the #4 coil, but repaired #5 instead, although I was charged. The error on Jacob's is the direct cause of my multiple weeks of car issues. SMH! Never again! read more

The first time I visited Jacob's Garage was for a quick fix to my bumper. The service was outstanding, so I decided to do my oil change and tire rotation over there. After I paid they told me that no tire rotation was needed, and that they only changed my oil and checked my fluids. Two thousand miles later my oil change light turned on. Which means that they charged me just for checking my fluids because no oil lasts two thousand miles. What a huge disappointment to know that I can't even trust them to change the oil. read more

I've come here many times and it was about time I wrote a review. I love going to Jacobs. It's a family business and they all treat their customers like they are too. Today they squeezed me in when I called at 7:30 am. I rushed over there and told them I was told I needed new brakes. The previous person who told me this quoted me at $250 and that was just the pads. Jacobs did it for $150. Since I went there in a hurry I didn't get to charge my phone. He let me burrow his charger to charge my phone. They are engaging and make conversation. Only place I will take my car. read more

Took my Murano in for what it seemed to be a Power Steering Leak they found the issue and he gave me an estimate right away. Took it back a few days later to get the work done and it was finished as promised. Zvi the owner really took the time to tell me the issue and how it was going to get resolved. I have been going to Jacob's for years after getting a recommendation from a co-worker at our government office. I used them for both a Lexus and a late model Corvette and they did great work on both. I even brought the Lexus in once or twice for an issue that was not evident when I got there, so they checked it out and told me to bring it back when the problem came again. Many garages would just start putting parts and charging you for them. I think the "grumpy guy" referred to below retired sometime back, although we got along very well. Zvi is the boss of this shop and he has always been very courteous and professional to me and anyone I recommended to them. read more

Although I was initially encouraged by the Yelp reviews, it did not turn out that way. It was sad really. My daughters car needed a simple starter replaced. They were very accomodating, at first. When they called and said it would be $500 I was shocked. Asking the son who took over from the father who recently past away why it was so expensive, he relayed to me that the labor was $199.00 and the starter he wanted $300.00. No sh*t. $300.00 for a starter that I could get for $56.00 from the dealership for an acura. When I told the son I could get a starter for far less he replied he disnt believe it and he knows what it cost. Well, I bought a very good starter with lifetime warrentry from Auto Zone, brought it over. He seemed upset I was unwilling to be robbed on the parts and they did do the labor. Their work lasted 5 days. Then the starter broke again. In my call, I told them there is likely a electrical issue since I've built race cars when younger. When my daughter went back so they could correct their work, they refused. Saying, since it wasn't their part so they wouldn't honor their work. This was the straw...., they were to me, crooks and absolutely untrustable. Angry they couldn't stiff me for the part. I went back to Joe Bears (my usual mechanic) only a couple of blocks South of this place to fix their work. Joe instantly found the electrical problem and fix it. 5 minutes. He didnt even charge me. My sincere advice? Go to Joe Bears, he's actually honest and a much, Much, MUCH better mechanic. And more importantly, can actually be trusted. These people at Jacobs certainly are not. read more

100% proven HONEST MECHANIC!! I thought I needed a me timing belt, about a $500 job. They told me I didn't need it yet, to come back in 30,000 miles. That proved to me they are an honest shop. The staff is friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable. Sometime I just need to describe the issue and they know exactly what it is. I've been going to them for 15 years and never had a problem of any kind. I refuse to take my car anywhere else, even for just an oil change. The best in town!! read more

I found them after searching the web for local shops tired of the dealerships ripping me off. found them very friendly and helpful. there quote was the same as what it was on the phone there no mark up after they got the car in there hands. I was impressed when he told me I would be needing some other repairs in the future but the brakes and tires still have a little life left in them so I dont need to repair them right now. April of 2009 & the A/c's air turned warm in my then low mileage 1990 Acura Legend L w manual trans. (Love that car). My prior mechanic (in Miramar) claimed I needed a new evaportator =est $500 after adding freon (supposedly) & having only warm air the next day. I went to Jacob's just for a 2nd opinion ... Jacob's replaced the freon + added dye (no leak detected) for about $58. & recomended I return when ac's cold air stops. Had cold air till the following year. Since then, annual freon replacements for about $30.ea until last month when the a/c compressor died... & I'm STILL using the same (origional) A/c evaporator today! Since 2009 Jacob's replaced the clutch lining, oil pan, fuel pump &. I've been very happy w each job, prices always reasonable, no complaints. Fiance's car gets serviced there too w same results. Here's Something really hard to find: Honest auto mechanics that are knowledgeable, only recommend what's really needed, do good work & charge reasonable prices... even if you've been towed in! No Bull! Brake booster just died so now I'm replacing that & the mstr cylinder. I refuse to let my beloved now 26 yr old car die! Didn't think it was possible but definitely found honest mechanics!! Wouldn't go anywhere else. AC wasn't working and they added freeon for $80 and it works great now. They did follow up assessment for free to make sure there are no leaks. No BS and unnecessary fixes with these guys. Honest assessment at fair prices. I researched as much as I could of the auto shops in this area, as we just moved here. I was between this and another shop in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, and called both for information on labor rates & diagnosis charges. I called Jacob's Garage several times and they were courteous & took their time answering my questions every time, whereas the other place did not. Once they had an estimate, I got a call with a full breakdown of everything. They didn't mind me taking my time researching the parts costs and I did find them to be fair. I could have saved a little money ordering my own parts, which they would have used, but I'd have lost almost a week waiting for the parts to arrive. They called me a few times while the work was being done to update me on a few things they found. The work seems to be of all around good quality and they gave me a great deal. I was very happy with the service and will be going back. For what it's worth, the car being worked on was a 97 Subaru. Let me tell you one thing, this is just another mechanic. Will not recommend you to go there, don't waste your time. I was having problems starting my car sometimes, so I decided to bring it to Jacob's because of their reviews... BIG MISTAKE! After not even bringing the car inside the shop, Gary told me that the problem was the starter, and to fix it it will be $250, so I agreed on the repair. After an entire day at the shop, I came back to pick up my car and it wouldn't even start anymore.. He said it was a problem with the alarm.. We end up pushing the car out of the shop, because it will not start anymore. After having the alarm completely removed, the car still doesn't work.. I spend $250 and they didn't even try to find what was wrong with my car... Can you find an honest mechanic now days?? THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO, DO NOT GO BY THE REVIEWS, THEY SUCK!! read more

I found this garage on the quest to find an Honest Shop. Surprisingly I found it. These guys are surrounded by big brand shops yet they are still around after 30 years of business. That pretty much should tell you how great they are. These guys are fair, and treat you right. When I was there I met two people that have been going there since the 80's, and wont go anywhere else. They think outside the box and find the problem and fix it, they don't look at you as a payday. They know that if they do people right because they want you you as a customer fr life. I found some good reviews for this garage on another site. Looking for a good mechanic to take care of my Subaru here in the Miramar area, I was hoping to find that magic mix of friendly, knowlegable, and honest. The crew at Jacobs get a star for knowledgeable. They seem to work on any kind of car, they have many years (generations) of experience and a sizable garage. They do everything from oil changes to overhauls. However, when I called ahead to see if I could bring in my car for a quick oil change, they said sure, bring it right now. I was there 15 minutes later and the rather unfriendly guy at the desk tells me it will be about an hours wait. I was kind of surprised by this since I had just called ahead (didn't seem honest). When I asked if this was what I could expect to wait normally, he got kind of hard nosed (in that rude "I could care less" kind of way) and I got turned off. There was another woman there who was waiting and after mr. obnoxious left the room, she spoke up and said she had the same experience and she would not be coming back here. This place had really good reviews on another site so I may give it one more chance, but it wasn't a good start. read more

I took my car into Jacobs the other day for a squeek (more like a bird caught in my wheels) which was driving me crazy and which 2 other garages had not been able to find. It took only @ an hour for Tom the mechanic to find the thing. He showed me what he thought it was and I could hear it right then. He said he hoped it was the only issue but was not 100% there was not another issue so he ordered a part put it on and sure enough that was not it so he could still fix it but was going to take more time that I did not have at the moment. He assured me it would be okay until I could get it back in so I made an appointment for the following Saturday. He was there at 7:30 and so was I and my car was fixed!! Blessed silence, the squeek was killed!! I am happy and Jacobs will assuredly be my home Garage from now on. Ladies I am here to tell you if you want to take your car someplace you feel is not messing you over because you are a woman take it to Jacobs. They are fair and honest!! I would not recommend this garage,took my pt cruiser for engine problems and to have the power windows master control switch replaced, of which I supplied the switch,was told by the owner AMIR, that the switch was bad and so they took the door drivers door panel off to diagnose the motor, the window worked after that,also they replaced a sensor on the motor which did not alleviate the problem, I picked up the car the next day and noticed that the middle panel was not put in correctly(the radio , a/c and power master switch is on this middle panel, I had to push in the panel and it snapped back into place , the door panel is another story, it wasn't aligned correctly and so I took it back and they said they fixed the problem,the problem wasn't corrected, I powered the window down and the rubber seal between the glass and the door panel went down into the window well and I pulled the window up and the rubber piece came up. The sensor didn't correct the problem either. Bottom line , this garage does shoddy work, I would not recommend them to anyone on a scale of 1-5 stars I give them a minus 5. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I don't know how they got such good reviews,but I believe they rated themselves. Bad experience and the owner AMIR talks so fast that it's like he's trying to cover up.Also spoke to him on numerous occaisons and he would talk so fast ,you can hardly put in two words and then he would hang up, I called back and asked him why he hung up so fast.No explanation.
