We had a great conversation about all kinds of stuff like Michigan. I had to have him bake me one of their Red Baron pizzas. As it is conveniently located in the Miguel Hidalgo park square. It is one on the first resturants that you can visit on the beginning of the Ruta Del Vino. This slower paced town has many hidden gems and this is definitely one of them. Hector is passionate about his hometown and in his resturant showcases many regionally sourced offerings. The wine was all from the Gaudalupe Valley and many of their beer were from Ensenada's Transpenninsular Brewery. The calamari was delicious and the staff was very gracious and accommodating. Its was one of the highlights of my weekend getaway. I loved that I could ask many questions about the area and the owner shared some pearls of wisdom of other places to go and visit while in Tecate.
