If someone hadn't reminded me about this restaurant, I would have completely forgotten about it…read more And even if I drove by a few times, I don't think I would have noticed it, because it's in a very unassuming location with a very low key facade, but let me tell you that the interior is beautiful and very, very spacious. They were exceptionally accommodating tonight, as they were solidly booked (which tells you how good they are) yet they found a way to squeeze us in if we went a little early, which was no problem at all. The food is as beautiful as the decor and the service was top notch. I had the Pan Fried Curried Beef Dumplings and the Sweet and Sour Chicken in Batter which were both SO incredibly delicious. Everyone else at the table loved their meal too and we will definitely come back. It can get a little loud, but again, good service, good food and it was a really nice dining experience. I highly recommend it.

DO NOT DINE HERE!!!…read more My family and I have been ordering takeaway from Chois for years. This was our first time dining in. Our booking was confused with another large group and we were placed in the private dining room. The manager Amy began to ABUSE my mother about conversations that occurred over the phone with the other group. My mother was accused of hanging up the phone and disregarding emails. Amy the manager then realised that she had confused us for another group and did not apologise or explain her lack of professionalism. Amy instructed us to move to the main dining room where the rest of the dining staff greeted us with animosity. The food service was fine and we managed to salvage the rest of our evening. The bill arrived and we were charged $39 for WATER($13 per bottle). We specifically requested tap water and the waiters accused us of requesting still. We tried to reason with them but they treated us with the same rudeness that they displayed at the start of our evening. The food was unbelievable expensive and they charged us a $25 fee for brining our own birthday cake. After the water debacle our night was completely ruined. We went there for a birthday celebration and had the most memorable night of our lives FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

I'd only been here once before, back in 2016, and thought to try it again. I wish I'd done so…read moreearlier, because it was soooo incredibly good and delicious. Honestly, the food is great. The food takes a little bit of time to come out (even during non peak times), but the actual service is very good and they're attentive and the meals all came out at the same time, which is almost unheard of in many Chinese restaurants (that I've been to). They could definitely stand to freshen up and modernise the decor and repaint the dirty and old shabby looking walls, but overall that's really about the only complaint. Everything we ate, we loved and I'll definitely be coming back again.

The Tea House on Burke is an institution in Camberwell. It has been withstanding the competition…read morefor years now and is a popular destination for local families aching to get some decent Chinese food. The dining space is really large with big tables and a lot of room to fit in enormous banquets. The service is incredibly efficient and whether you are eating in or just getting takeaway the wait staff and kitchen always seem to pump out the food in record time. Favourites include anything to do with Peking duck (I can never say no to Peking duck). I have to admit that while my knowledge of the menu is limited to the duck, but every time I have gone there with someone else they have been impressed with the variety and quality of the cuisine. There is a wine list but I personally prefer jasmine tea and haven't yet sampled this menu.

As I walked inside, I was taken at how small and quaint this place was. The hostess said, "You must be Cosmo." I laughed and said yes- I must've been the only one to make a reservation that night! There was a small bar as I walked in, and I was guided to the dining room, where there were a few other diners sitting, about half full. I was shown to my table and given a menu. She handed me a menu, and asked if I wanted water, to which I said yes, tap was fine. She left me as I perused the menu, and she quickly returned with water and pointed out the board behind me, which had all the fresh fish and specials of the day. I wanted Lobster, and happily, I saw it on the board. I asked which of the prawn starters was better, and she offered a taste of both! I then ordered a lobster. I ordered green beans on the side. I also ordered a cold beer, which she brought immediately. I was brought a plate of 2 prawns which were both divine, and then another plate with another 2 prawns, and they were divine as well. I am glad I was given the option. And then my main course came, beautifully prepared, large chunks of lobster in the shell. The Green Beans were beautiful, and I must say, some of the best I have ever had! Cooked perfectly, and the almonds were delicious. The lobster was to die for- tender and flavorful, cooked perfectly. I savored each bite. I ordered a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc with my lobster, and then had a cheese plate to finish. I sat there finishing my wine and enjoying the cheese. What a great dinner! I paid my bill, and all the staff thanked me, and I left, yearning to come back one day. For now, it will be a wonderful memory...
