Still just love the place. I almost always get hot green tea and their cups give off too much heat. I wrap the paper the silverware comes in around the cup so I can hold it. About two years ago I started bringing my own cup and after a few times doing that they gave me a cup with a handle. It seems they have only one and it is for me! This restaurant is a go to for me and my family as it's right around the corner from home and they offer a wide variety of dishes on the combo menu M-F for 12.95. This includes an appetizer, soup, rice and the entree. Pretty good deal. My favorite dish of theirs is the curry chicken but beware- it's spicy! Their Singapore noodles are tasty with a kick as well. I stopped by Jade Ly Asian Bistro for dinner before a concert at the Smart Financial Centre on a Sunday. The main reason for my two-star review is because I don't have any patience for businesses that engage in shady business practices. Before I get to the fireworks, Jade Ly is located in a shopping center so parking wasn't an issue. This small Chinese restaurant has 10 or so tables. It's not super close to the Smart Financial Centre but they did have a Yelp check-in deal for a free beverage with the purchase of an entree. I ordered the General Tso's chicken dinner special which comes with your choice of soup, rice, and an egg roll or crab puffs. I went with the wonton soup, fried rice, and an egg roll. The portion sizes here aren't large, especially for Chinese restaurants. I was a big fan of the wonton soup as it came with crispy wontons which you don't see very often. The food was average as the sauce was a bit sweeter than your typical General Tso's. What created my negative dining experience was that they wouldn't honor the Yelp check-in deal. I was told that the deal is only valid on weekdays although the terms of the deal on Yelp do not state this in any way. When I brought this up, the waiter said he's just the waiter and it wasn't his decision. That's a poor way to deal with an issue. Since I was tired, I didn't push it further but I'm never a fan of deceiving business practices. If you offer an incentive that brings people to your restaurant, and you don't mention any restrictions until the customer is actually in your restaurant, that's not an ethical way to run your business. As a result, you've lost mine. read more

So my review is going to be based on a heavy comparison of another popular halal Chinese restaurant in Sugar Land/Houston area. The husband and I came in on Saturday night, at around 7:45ish. I think that was a great time because it wasn't too busy, and we didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. We both ordered dinner specials and were impressed at the portion size. It was a generous amount. What we liked about the deal is that it comes with a soup, appetizer, and choice of steamed or fried rice. What we ordered: Apps: Crab puffs and spring roll: 4/5 standard nothing rave about, good app! Hot and sour soup: 5/5 Hot, sour, and spicyyyy. So good! Definitely ask for the wonton strips to dunk and soak in the soup. Mmmm! Entree: Mongolian beef- 5/5 This was some of the best beef I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. Compared to the other halal Chinese restaurant, their beef was not chewy at all! It was tender, smokey, and flavorful! I get the hype about this dish. Entree: General Tso Chicken- 2/5 I was quite disappointed with this. It didn't have that coating that I like compared to the other restaurant. This coating just tasted like it was fried with a thin batter and coated with a thin sauce. Wasn't my jam! It was edible but when I come back I'll try the sesame chicken instead. (Hoping the batter isn't the same) Also this place is kind of small. Which doesn't matter as long as the food is good, but just keep in mind when your thinking of bringing a big party/crowd. Cute small family owned Chinese restaurant serving fusion dishes as well as both Americanized and authentic flavors. We were deciding between pho or Chinese but since it's summer... Jade Ly was our pick. Definitely pleasantly surprised. Kind servers who checked on you. Quick polite service. We ordered the Mongolian beef rice plate (aromatic, spicy as requested, great savory flavor), garlic Chinese broccoli (a tiny bit bland but I rather that than too salty, cooler perfectly! Can be ordered as oyster sauce if preferred), and shrimp fried rice (lots of large shrimp). All delicious and would order exact dishes again. Really happy we happened upon them gem. Was looking for a new halal Chinese spot to try and heard of Jade Ly Asian Bistro. Tried this place and the food was amazing, I would say easily one of the best Halal Chinese restaurants in Houston area. This place is in a busy shopping strip, overall the restaurant is a little small, ambiance is great and is clean as well. I was with a large group and we ordered multiple items, some of the items that I would recommend would be the Kung Pao Chicken, Jalapeno Chicken, Mongolian Beef. One disclaimer to my zabihah halal - eating people they do have a few items on the menu that are non-zabihah, ask the staff and they will let you know which items those are. Called in an order for pickup at 9:22pm (attached screenshot of my call log). Let me start by saying, I knew they closed at 10, and I was already on my way. First thing I was asked is what time I will be there. Let her know I was in the car heading to the restaurant already and would be there in about 10-15min. Asked if they had dinner combo specials, was told they didn't, so I ordered shrimp fried rice, two general tso's chicken, one beef with broccoli, one wonton soup, one egg drop soup. After each item, she'd cut me short and ask if that was all. When I finally did tell her that was all, she again asked how long it would take me. Again, told her I was already on my way, would be there in about 10 min. She said my food would be ready in 10 min. And then asked me again if I was going to be there soon. I shortly replied yes I would, and then got hung up on. Didn't confirm my order, didn't tell me price. We arrived at 9:33pm. I asked my son to go inside to pay and pick it up, as I also had my young daughter with me. When we got home, I unpacked everything and first thing I noticed is that she didn't get the TWO orders of general tso's- we only had one. Even though I'm sure if she had confirmed my order and was actually really listening to my order instead of rushing me and harassing me about when I'd be there she likely would've gotten the order right, I let it go since I wasn't the one who went inside and didn't check when my son got back to the car and it was late. Then I opened the wonton soup. Immediately noticed all the pieces of lettuce had little black spots all over them, as well as floating in the soup broth (see picture). Definitely not having my family eat that. I started to drink the egg drop soup and family dug into the rest of the food. The other dishes were fine, tasted fine. Then I got about halfway done with the soup, and little piece of egg with black on/in it came up on my spoon (see picture). No idea what it is, but at this point, I am now just disgusted. This is not my first time ordering/eating here, and the past has been great. But I haven't been in a couple years- we moved and it's out of the way now. I get it's late, and they're just about to close. But it's very off-putting when the first thing I'm asked is how long it'll take me to get there, then being rushed through my order, and then asked again several times when I'd arrive in the conversation. And then to go home and find the order was wrong and the food looking like it's gone/going bad... This just wasn't a pleasant experience, and there were just too many dropped balls. Again, I get it's late. But if they didn't want to put in the effort, I wish they'd just said it was too late. read more

jade Ly is my top Chinese place in the area. Delivery is good, take out reliable, and if you want to sit down inside it's nice. Friendly service and good Americanized Chinese food. Garlic beef, hunan shrimp, Mongolian beef, general tso's chicken, and lo mein are all on the go-to list (not all at the same time of course, unless we've got a big group). Egg rolls and dumplings very good too. I've had he egg drop and sweet and sour soup as well - excellent on a cold day. Their food is super tasty, and they give very generous portions. I'm absolutely addicted to their tofu with garlic sauce. It's basically the perfect combination of my favorite veggies (including snow peas, mushrooms, and celery) with grilled tofu and a tangy/umami sauce.
