We've been waiting so long for Jade Rabbit to open and are thrilled to welcome them to the neighborhood! They exceeded our expectations both in food quality and price. Think fast casual, like Panda Express, but higher quality dishes and slightly pricier, but not by much. I think the price point is just right given the quality and quantity of food, and I'm hopeful that they will do well given their location right by St John's. I ordered the build your bowl with fried rice, salad mix, charred mushroom & zucchini, spicy Chinese broccoli, and charred honey chicken. Hubby got the 50/50 chicken bowl minus the cucumber. The fried rice was tasty and not drowning in soy sauce. The salad mix was much nicer than what you get at a lot of places - included spinach, kale, and romaine. The taste of the mushroom & zucchini and Chinese broccoli was on point, though I personally am not a fan of cold dishes. The Chinese broccoli was perfectly cooked to be crisp tender. The chopped kale salad was on the sweeter side with quinoa and apple chunks and was reminiscent of a Waldorf salad. All the chicken dishes were excellent, though the charred honey chicken was probably my favorite and the only one that wasn't coated in breading. My daughter was put off at the sight of all the vegetables but consented to get the chickpea curry since she loved the version at Cassia - this version suited her even better since it was salty and not in the least spicy. Overall, I didn't find the food to be that spicy but it did make my nose run! The mango creamsicle pudding was a little sweet, a little tart, and did indeed evoke a creamsicle. Beautiful new spot! Excited to try it since I was a huge fan of Cassia. I love an elevated fast casual concept. Gorgeous space, the light is lovely when you enter. Really nicely designed. Ordered a bowl, love all the choices for vegetables. Super flavorful. The fried rice base was also superb! Sadly I did not like the salmon I got as my protein choice. It was a bit dry and overdone. Super cute brand new concept in Santa Monica by the hospitals. I'm a sucker for this kind of food so putting it in a Chipotle Style line seems obvious for me. The room is kind of cool with ample seating that seems designed for people taking a break from the hospital. A lot of interesting choices, though very few are traditional chinese. In fact the vegetable ones are predominantly non-chinese but not bad. The price of $12 for a bowl is right at the reasonable level. They certainly give you a heavy amount of food. It's essentially two bases which are like rice or noodles, then two vegetables, and then any one of a number of standard chicken proteins or you can plus up for beef and other things. I grabbed a cookie and Mango pudding at the end of the line and they were both very very good. Would go back for the cookie! read more

I came here on a Thursday around 1PM for lunch. There were a few tables and lots of counter seats available. I chose to build my own bowl, which comes with two bases, two vegetables, and a main. You can also do half and half on the main to try different items. The food was fresh, flavorful, and didn't feel as heavy as other Chinese places. A recent addition to the westside from the chef behind Cassia, I was eager to check out what seemed to be an elevated panda express. The inside was very modern and chic, while keeping a pretty laidback vibe. Service was fast and friendly. Similar to panda express, you take your pick of bases, protein, and sides. For my bases I chose fried rice and chow mein, for my sides zucchini and butternut squash, and for my protein, the spicy lamb. Portions were generous, and the price was a pretty reasonable $17 (the normal bowl is $13, but the lamb is extra). Overall, very impressed with the quality for the price. Everything was well made with quality ingredients, and even the bases were full of flavor and could stand on their own. Definitely a solid choice for a regular spot. read more

However, it was very disappointing that they forgot to include the Hong Kong milk tea that I ordered. Jade Rabbit is an instant must-visit in Santa Monica. We came in for lunch on a Friday not knowing what to expect and left completely obsessed. Every dish was beautifully executed and packed with flavor. The chopped kale salad was surprisingly crave-worthy, bright, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The beef and broccoli was next-level comfort food, incredibly tender with that deep, savory wok flavor. And the garlic chilli shrimp... absolutely addictive with just the right amount of heat. But the star that shocked us? The almond roca chocolate chip cookie. Truly spectacular!! It crispy edges, sweet & salty, the right amount of gooeyness , and that hint of almond roca that makes it unforgettable. We will come back for just that cookie alone. Also: the green sauce deserves its own fan club. It's vibrant, aromatic, and so addicting we were basically negotiating who got the last spoonful. On top of the incredible food, we had the chance to meet Kim and Bryant, the owners, and they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they're building. That hospitality shines through in every detail of Jade Rabbit. We'll absolutely be back for more delicious food and their amazing cookie, and we've already been telling friends about this gem. Love this place and owner Kim! Our son loves the Little Bunny Meal and consistently requests fried rice, sweet potatoes and mango chicken. I like to mix it up. It was my first time coming to this restaurant and from the decor which caught my eye and gave a welcoming vibe vs going to Panda which feels bland decor wise. The servers made me feel welcomed, I liked their take on making Chinese cuisine healthier. As soon as you step foot into Jade Rabbit, you can feel how much thought went into this restaurant! Between the cute mural, neon sign, and layout of the space, it's clear that it was meticulously designed with so much love. If I had to summarize Jade Rabbit in five words: great value, great people, delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by how many side options were available and couldn't decide on just one, so we tried almost all of them! Our favorites were the Chinese pickled cabbage, Chinese broccoli, and cucumber salad. The fried rice was nice and moist, and had great flavor from the green onions. Do yourself a favor and order the scallion cheese toast. I would come back again just for that, it was insanely delicious and blew my away!! I echo the same sentiment for the cookie and Hong Kong milk tea, oh my god. I don't know the last time I had milk tea that good, not too sweet, great tea flavor, what more can you ask for? For my meats I split them and go the Mango Chicken and The Honey Seared chicken. Delicious! This makes me never want to go back to Panda Express. So I was *really* looking forward to this place, as I have always lamented LA in general and especially the westside lacks amazing american chinese food that is so ubiquitous in NYC and the east coast in general. Genghis Cohen is one of the only examples in this city and it is truly a thing of glory with their fat egg rolls and classic menu. I will say that sadly, Jade Rabbit doesn't hit the mark. It's no bueno. Their orange chicken is quite good but they have all of these weird, COLD sides that taste like you are at Erewhon or Lemonade. For real. Bro, we want high end Panda Express. We want Genghis Cohen. We want General Tsos and an egg roll and super soy based fried rice and Mongolian Beef. Not cold kale salad that tastes the same as the mushrooms and the broccoli every other veggie they have, and oh by the way the same as the MAIN DISH beef and broccoli which is not a hard dish to execute, but this one tastes like a whole foods cold bar salad. Not chinese. People will like this place as its very LA and healthy, but for the Chef from Cassia and hearing about this concept, was expecting him to nail high end American Chinese. The Sichuan chicken is pretty tasty and classically executed and legit and the lo mein is decent as well but the egg fried rice lacks any soy sauce (yes, I know certain fried rice does but this concept should taste like the fried rice you can get at Hop Woo or Li) and it also lacks any flavor and the sausage and corn tastes again, like a whole foods hot bar dish NOT chinese (they use kielbasa vs chinese sausage??) and again BRO we want neighborhood, manhattan chinese. No big, fat egg rolls?? No cream cheese wontons? No Tangerine beef or Kung Pao? B-R-O. We can go to the Erewhon hot/cold bar whenever we want. Was so looking forward to this place. read more

I ordered the first item on the menu, only 12.99 with a large portion of everything--2 chicken from choices, Kyle salad, cold noodles, spicy noodles, and sweet potato, with a good portion of crispy noodles on top to finish it's touch. So. Excited to try this place. Ordered thru door dash. Food arrived promptly and hot. That was the only good part. Spicy chicken was super dry and way too hot to have any actual flavor. I'm somewhere in between 3-4 stars on this spot, but due to the potential, I'm rounding up. I parked across the street at the bike shop since they were closed, walked in, and the ambiance is fantastic! Good lighting, nice layout, line properly marked, seating area away from the line for the most part, menu nicely laid out, and clear in the orders. Got to the front of the line and everyone there was very nice and accommodating, with a nice fast pace. Good balance of moving quickly without being rushed. I got 2 bowls. At first I thought the portion of protein seemed a little skimpy, but after eating it I realized it was actually the right amount. Got the chow main and cold noodles. Both had good flavor but seemed a bit overcooked, like just a little gummy, but tasted good. I especially liked the cold noodles. I got the Chinese broccoli, which was delicious with just a little spice but perfectly cooked where there was still some good texture. I also got the zucchini and mushrooms , which was fine. I ended up dipping the zucchini in the green jade sauce they gave me, which made the zucchini the vehicle for the delicious sauce. Since I was sharing with my wife I ended up getting 3 proteins. The sichuan, which was spicy and crispy with a good amount of seasoning, my favorite of the 3 chickens. I got the orange mango, which had nice chunks of mango but I felt like lacked a little flavor. I also got the honey chicken. It just tased like small chunks of grilled chicken. I wish the chunks were larger on this and there wasn't much flavor but dipped it in that green sauce again and it was fine. I think this place is new and they may still have some kinks to get out with some feedback, but it has some good potential. It's a little drive for me from Culver City, so if I'm in the area again in the future, I would consider going again. read more
