Unfortunately I didn't have a good experience with Dr. Carbonell. He operated on a bunion, but also opened my second and third toe because he said the second one had a little shift to the left. I don't know what he did inside those toes, but whatever it was ended in disaster, because now the second toe is almost on top of the big toe, causing a deformity, and the only solution is another surgery to put a pin inside that one and the next (and another year of recovery if all goes well, which is not guaranteed). To top it off, the surgery has completely altered my lifestyle, as I live with foot pain on my toes and metatarsal. I can't use the treadmill or the elliptical at the gym; can't do Tai Chi, Zumba or any of the classes I used to take. Can't wear normal shoes either (only extra wide sneakers) or walk long distances without pain. I have never regretted something so much as I have regretted this surgery. read more

I went to see Dr Carbonell on the recommendation of my manicurist for ingrown toenails. After having the corners of both large toe nails partial removal I was sent home with instructions to wash and apply Neosporin daily. I'm an RN and was concerned about infection so I inquired if he would give me antibiotics and was told no. Before my two week follow up appointment I could see my toes were too red and swollen with a definite sign of infection so I called the office and explained to the receptionist the situation asking to speak to the Dr, she went to speak to him and said he just wanted me to do what he told me and NO ANTIBIOTICS. I immediately went to another DR and he took one look at me toes and ordered a course of broad spectrum antibiotics. I canceled my follow up appointment because obviously there was no point in seeing him again and I feel he was negligent with my care and definitely do not recommend him. read more

His practice is treating patients like cattle. Sets up multiple appointments for the same time then makes you wait to get 5 mins of his time; then he refers you to rude, incompetent staff to schedule future surgery and appointments. Just a horrible place to get treatment. read more

Beware the office staff is rude and incompetent. I had an appt rescheduled for 6/10 (originally scheduled for 6/19), and when I arrived they couldn't find my appointment. Since they couldn't find my appointment. I had to wait more than 2 hours. To boot, the office manager is RUDE, RUDE, RUDE...as if it was my fault that the appointment wasn't reflected as I'd been told. Dr. Jaime Carbonell, podiatrist, located at 6705 SW 57 Ave. Suite 312. Coral Gables, FL 33143, is the worst doctor I have ever seen. Everything he says in his profile is a lie: " takes pride in offering our patients first class foot and ankle care" is a lie; "gives us the experience and knowledge to treat your condition, no matter what it may be. Whether it is a bunion, hammertoe, ... disorder, we have seen and treated it all... effectively" is a lie. Dr. Carbonell was the first podiatrist I have ever seen in my life. I went to see him because I started noticing issues in my feet that required medical attention. Dr. Jaime Carbonell did not close the room door. There were like 7 people standing behind me. I felt very uncomfortable and didn't ask him who those people were and why the door was open because I didn't want anything to affect my visit to the doctor, which was extremely important to me, even though I was so uncomfortable with that situation. The doctor looked at my feet and said that there was nothing he could do for me. He didn't do X-rays, he didn't order blood test, nothing!!! However, as it says in his profile and I copied above, "he has treated it all effectively." I have seen many videos online, I have read a lot about what I see is happening in my feet. I have checked out books from the library about feet because I went to the doctor and he was unable to help me. He took advantage of me, he abused me psychologically by leaving the door open and the room full of people behind me without asking me for my consent or telling me who those people were and why he was leaving the door open. I put my trust on him as a podiatrist, I paid my copay and he didn't help me at all. Whenever I go to the doctor, they close the door. If a doctor would like students to observe the consultation, the doctor asks the patient for his permission. There is so much he could have said to help me but all he was able to say was "there is nothing I can do for you". I am devastated by this experience. He should not been working as a doctor because he is not helping patients at all. He is 100% uneffectively. I gave him one star because Google would not be able to submit the review, but I give him negative one million stars. He is the worst doctor among the worse ever! read more

After falling down in high heels and going to urgent care, I was sent to Dr. Carbonell. I have to say that as far as doctors go, he's been one of my very best. Waiting to be attended was never an issue, although the first time I did go I did get lost. Luckily the staff was very nice and gave me directions on how to get there. That aside, the office was nice and clean. Dr. Carbonell himself is very straight to business. I think if all doctors would avoid the useless chit chat and get straight to business I would enjoy going to the doctor more. While this may appear disagreeable to some, I loved it. He also never made me feel uncomfortable with his demeanor, and well, when I asked him questions, he always answered in a knowledgable and thorough manner. Oh, and the best part? Here's a doctor that actually spoke to me in English. I speak Spanish, yes, but it isn't my preference, but being Hispanic almost everyone assumes Spanish first. I'm glad to see a doctor actually paying attention to my language preference for once! All in all, I'm done with my treatment and don't need a podiatrist anymore, but should I ever need one again, I'll go to Dr. Carbonell. read more

Dr. Carbonell is one of the worst doctor's I have ever seen. He is a knife-happy low-life who insists on surgery without a second opinion, or third for that matter. As a result of his negligence, I am forced to deal with pain for the rest of my life. To top it all off, his office never calls or even mentions that you have an outstanding balance on your account. My insurance changed half way through and I called and made sure there was no balance on my account and his staff assured me that there wasn't. He sends you to collections for the unpaid balance 2 YEARS after service. Ridiculous. Run away at all costs. Just another doctor trying to take advantage of the flawed medical system. read more

I have been suffering with Plantar Fasciitis in both feet with little to no relief for years. Dr. Carbonell is the only doctor who has been able to provide a treatment that has given me quality of life back. As a teacher being on my feet all day was torture and getting workouts in after work would leave me work throbbing feet at the end of every day. I can now function without having to worry about foot pain and I can't thank Dr. Carbonell enough! After consulting with 3 different podiatrist, finally my 4th attempt was the charm! Dr. Carbonell is in charge of the podiatrist resident program at Barry University in Miami and always has an entourage of resident doctors following him at his office and during surgery. I realize some people may feel intimidated by having so many people looking and picking out their imperfections all at once, and even staring at you while you're experiencing the worst pain imaginable. But, being for the purpose of education, good doctor training, and better future physicians, I'm all for it. In addition, I think a doctor who has the patience to have 3-4 rookies following him around and asking questions 24/7 speaks for itself about the kind of passion he has towards his profession. There aren't many out there who are this dedicated. He is detailed with his evaluations and a PERFECTIONIST when it comes to his practices. If something is not "perfect" in his book, he will make sure it is by the time he's done with your treatment. Even without me asking or mentioning certain things, he noticed them and made sure to address them. He also made observations about other things outside his field and insisted I should see a specialist about them. He is young, professional, experienced, knowledgable, and very thorough. His demeanor is calm and soft spoken which is always a plus. His office in South Miami is impeccable and his office staff is very pleasant. Although I will not get into specifics, I did have to have two surgeries with this doctor. Yes, it's been quite a painful experience and things didn't come out as planned the first time, but I'm so glad I was under Dr. Carbonell's care through it all. I cannot wait to see & feel my final results. I know I will be completely satisfied. My only complaints about this practice is the parking which can be a mission, and the space in the waiting area. He has a really busy practice & it can get very crowded in there. read more

Hello, I want to make sure my recent experience at your South Miami location (6705 SW 57th Ave) is documented. I had an appointment at 3:00pm and was at the office at 2:55pm. At 4:10pm I was called for my appointment. That is a one hour, 15 minute wait, and the worst part is that none of your staff informed anyone in the waiting room of the delay. This is unacceptable. Your staff needs some serious customer service training and you need to be courteous enough to inform your staff/patients of these delays. A simple, "I'm sorry for the wait, the Doctor will see you shortly" would go a long way. *There were several others there just as long as me, and I'm surprised to see no one is mentioning the long wait time. read more

By far the greatest regret of my life is having seen Dr. Jaime Carbonell. I went to see him about a simple bunion and he recommended some additional totally unnecessary procedure in my toes. After assuring me that it was a simple procedure I agreed to it even though the purpose of my visit, like I mentioned was a stupid bunion. His extremely bad surgery caused such deformation of my foot - beyond repair I was told by the best foot specialists in Miami who I've consulted over these years. Detached office, staff and Dr. (as all leaders' leadership runs downhill) After 60 minutes in the waiting room and no sense of care or respect via ANY communication "we're running behind, you have time to go 2 floors down to Whole Foods and have a coffee, we will text you when we start to catch up"....or after 20 minutes alone in the treatment room.." Dr. is finishing up and you are next! thank you for your patience"... as a new patient looking for a Dr. and office staff to go thru surgery, recovery, and foot-maintenance with...I knew it could not be this office and I quietly, without drama, took my paperwork and walked out. None of the 4-5 gossiping gals in the "hub" looked up (or I would have asked how much longer- and perhaps stayed- if they made an effort to connect)...but they didn't. Room 1 should have been me, a new patient needing surgery, but was empty whenever the Dr. arrived. No one followed up. No one called. No one cared. As a patient needing help, my incredulity at the enormity of the chasm of neglect from an office that serves a healing purpose, will be unforgettable, and I will use this lesson, going forward in my business and personal life as an example of what NEVER to do to people- ANY people ! - whose paths I cross ! As a patient needing help, my frustration at the WASTE of my valuable time has subsided and I WILL find another office that "fits" ALL of my needs~which are everyone's basic human needs ~ connection and results. "Connect with me so I know you care. Be excellent at the service I've chosen you to provide me". Its a simple philosophy...but not an easy one. As a research specialist and Consultant, I also feel empathy for this Dr. & staff. I'll never know if he is excellent in his results, but I KNOW - sadly- firsthand, he doesn't care about connection to his patients. Imagine if he had both results AND connection! Dr. Carbonell may be a good, competent doctor but his staff and his "bedside manner" is insensitive to the patient--he barely acknowledges you as a whole person and treats you like a "foot"--a body part. When I complained to the office manager, she said very defensively that he is busy and there is nothing he can do. When I asked her why they cant consider patient's constructive criticism or complaints she very rudely said "we cant change anything." After this exchange and a prior complaint I made about the staff reflecting the same sort of attitude as the office manager (had she been sensitive and pleasing in manner said "well, thank you for your comment and I will convey that to the doctor, " that would have been fine. But rather she called the doctor and he said he would not see me again and I should find another doctor because I criticized his staff and him. While my problem was minor, others come in not able to walk, facing serious surgery. No matter how busy, it is a doctor's ethical duty to be a healer in the full sense of the word: to show some concern for his patients, to hear patients complaints and concerns---this is the tragedy of modern medicine--that arrogant doctors do not take the time or make the time (yes, they are busy; yes, they have to contend with complicated health care system), but healing involves respect and even a moment to acknowledge a whole person. i have a wonderful primary; I have seen many doctors take a moment to ask how a patient feels--its takes a moment to do small things and the experience becomes positive and many treat patients as objects. I was dismissed as a crazy crank and never in my 68 yrs. have I had this experience (in my work, I deal with hundreds and hundreds of persons and have a doctorate myself in another field). Noone has called me crazy and in fact, think of me as kind, rational, thoughtful. But I will also stand up for those who remain quiet and who forebear doctors who have little or no concern for their patients as people and go home distraught at the coldness of a diagnosis or treatment....this is more and more prevalent as doctors lose their sensitivity, their oath to be a healer and become inflated by their own self-importance and expertise and invert the process--the patient is fortunate to have their services or are they there to serve?? I think the latter. I hope this review will in some small way, help humanize the medical system and encourage doctors to humanize their patients, not treat body parts like an object and in that process, they will become more compassionate and sensitive. The attitude of the staff (somewhat cold, not welcoming or warm, dismissive) obviously reflects the attitude at the top--the doctor), All will benefit. I hope other patients will demand a change and then change comes to a medical profession desperately in need of its own humanity. read more

Dr:carbonell has been doing by far a decent job, do I believe he is doing it for the money????,,,is he providing his care under oath???,,,, am not sure,, I'll tell you this I believe he is doing the best when it comes to my surgery. is he surgery happy (quick to cut) not sure , now staff wise it's very sad, you will come across a elder white woman who handles the office and follows the rules laws and regulations to a perfection, now this Spanish secretary was a total joke very unprofessional and portrayed to be someone else, now I am Spanish not being racist or anything just calling blue for being blue,,, I will post my end results, and if am lucky that secretary is not around. One of the best! I cant explain how grateful I am and was the moment he saved me from a complete mutilation of my left leg. After a motorcycle accident and two days in the hospital with an open wound, waiting for the assigned surgeon to come to my aid. Dr. Carbonell and his staff saved me from waiting longer and total mutilation of my leg. I was in the Operating Room table wanting for the assigned Doctor to show up. He wanted to preform two surgeries on my leg. Which involved a skin graph of my thigh and removing the flap of skin on the side of my leg from the accident. I was told by this assigned surgeon their was no other choice and it had to be done that way. Luckily for me there was another choice! After all the waiting and frustration on getting me a spot in the operating room, this assigned surgeon left me on the operating table and said he was not going to make it because it was too late (10 pm). Then Dr. Carbonell and his staff showed up to preform a surgery on another patient who was in the O.R. with me at the same time. One of the nurses assisting me asked him to see if he could help me. Carbonell came over and did just that. What a great Doctor! Stapled me up in a few minutes with no further surgeries to my leg. His staff was also great and did an outstanding job. They followed up and treated me very well. On the other hand the assigned Doctor who left me on the O.R. table never even called or cared to follow up or check on my status. I consider myself very lucky and thank Dr. Carbonell and his staff for what he did. Its been a year since the accident and I'm happy with the outcome of Dr. Carbonell's work. My leg has healed completely and I have a cool scar for a story to tell. read more
