Jaimie is great. I mean great. He had a group session first. Covers plenty in the group session to get many motivated pet owners moving in the right direction. This is not only a benefit to pet owners but to their pocket book as well. He could just as easily charge for introductory classes. Instead he has a great system of a group class. Explains a lot in that class. This makes it cost effective and can help you determine if you and your pet are ready to commit. We have since taken a private lesson. The wealth of knowledge he has is impressive. He met us at a dog park and gave us plenty of things to work on. Remember he is a real trainer. That means he is training YOU to work with your pet. Not your pet to work with him. Our dog couldn't walk in a dog park without going crazy. Being a bit of an alpha and posturing. Now, he has been a great pup at the parks. I highly, Highly recommend seeing Jaimie. He has followed up with us since our session. He has really helped give us the confidence to read our pup. read more

I often approach google reviews with a healthy dose of skepticism, but after researching Jaimie's approach to training, and gaining a cursory understanding of his training philosophy, I knew I had found the trainer I was looking for, and took a leap of faith. All I can say is: wow! My dog has never been happier and more well-behaved. Ironically, his approach, really, is about training you, the owner, to cultivate the behavior you want to see in your dog. He trains owners to address the root cause of behaviors, which leads to broad, systemic changes through energy-management and LOTS of positive reinforcement. Before finding Jaimie, I was worried I'd have to give my dog up to a sanctuary if I ever lived with another person who owned a dog because my dog's behavior was out of control. I no longer have that fear after training with Jaimie. He is truly a master of his craft, and I have full confidence his training techniques can work on any dog after seeing my dog's behavior transform. I have a 10 year old Shih Tzu that I adopted from the pound at 5 years old. She was constantly getting into trouble: jumping on furniture, marking in the house, pulling trash from trash cans, aggressive with kids and other dogs. I believed the folk wisdom that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," and Jaimie shattered that myth within the first training session. Jaimie's approach is really quite simple, if you think about it: if you manage your dog's energy, and you set boundaries for your dog, you can create a completely new routine that your dog will adopt through your consistent, clear communication and praising good behavior. Over time, through consistency, you fall into a new routine, one where your dog listens and understands the expectations you've set, and it feels natural. Since beginning training, my Shih Tzu has stopped marking inside the house and outside during walks, stopped begging for food and stealing food from the toddler in my house, pulling trash from the trash cans, stopped barking at every little noise in the house, listens to my commands while walking on a leash, and no longer jumps on furniture. Additionally, she is generally happier, and more affectionate with every human she meets. Next, I'm planning to work with Jaimie on addressing my dog's anxiety with other dogs. All of the work the work you put into training really pays off, and I have full confidence that his techniques and attention to detail will help me guide my dog finally begin to trust other dogs. Jaimie was fantastic! We got a new pup and we could tell he is a smart dog, but yet we could not get him to listen for the life of us. We've only had one session so far, but it was life changing and made a much happier home for us and our doggo. He didn't have to work with our pup much, but since it was our first session he mostly explained dos and don'ts and how to communicate with our dog. It basically human training rather than dog training, but it was definitely what we needed. He went over potty training 101, doggy day care, correcting bad behavior, food, leashes & collars, toys & treats, and energy management for our dog's breeds specifically (Border Collie/Golden Retriever). After a little practice and a few emails with extra advice from Jaimie, we have a happy and well behaved pupper. I also really appreciated his knowledge of the local services and his recommendations based on experience. We definitely plan to use him again as our pup gets older and we encounter different life stages. His schedule books up fast, but he was able to fit us in within a short amount of time. His week days tend to be open more than the weekend and he's great about keeping you posted with openings when he has cancellation. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Jaimie! My husband and I were getting no where training our very reactive and leash aggressive dog. I was having to walk him very early in the morning or late at night to avoid seeing any other dogs. When my husband and I contacted Jaimie, we were starting to fear that we would either have to rehome one of our dogs or keep them completely separate for the rest of their lives. We had just returned home from a few weeks out of the country and been informed that our two dogs had gotten into two bloody fights while we were gone. Upon our return, they had four more fights in a one week period. We were completely shocked, they had always gotten along so well. One is an eleven year old american eskimo/husky mix and the other is a two year border collie/aussie mix, we had had both of them (girls) since they were puppies. Through our own research, we quickly learned that two female dogs fighting in the same household is a very common problem, and one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult, problem to solve. We contacted Jaimie and were able to attend one of his group sessions a few weeks later. I had been to dog training classes before, but never like this. Jaimie's approach is very unique (and effective, as we found!) We learned so much in that initial session (so much that we were doing wrong!) We began making changes (following Jaimie's approach) and saw improvements immediately. These were just very tiny changes, from how to feed the dogs, to how to let them out the door, that somehow made an incredible difference in how our dogs acted towards us as well as with each other. Before Jaimie ever even met our dogs, the fights stopped. We learned how to give our dogs more structure and boundaries so that they felt more comfortable with who was in charge. We followed up with three private sessions ranging from one to two hours each. Two at our house, and one at a dog park. Through these sessions we continued to learn a LOT. We contacted Jaimie because we just wanted our dogs to stop trying to kill each other, but through working with Jaimie we learned techniques for every behavior with our dogs that we wanted to change. We had always had problems with our dogs barking and growling at people who came over, had problems with them going crazy on walks whenever they saw a distraction (cat, squirrels, bike riders). Through the three private sessions, we worked on all of these issues. I had also always had anxiety about going to the dog park, and Jaimie taught us how to approach the dog park to ensure that it is a safe and positive experience. Our dogs are now more happy and more well behaved than they have ever been. We are so grateful to have found Jaimie! Jaimie was always very responsive via email, great with scheduling, always exactly on time. Jaimie was also very honest and upfront. For example, Jaimie will tell you that he is training you how to train your dogs, so you have to spend time practicing and be diligent. For us, it was absolutely worth all of the time and money. His rates are very reasonable, for what could have been a very expensive vet bill, we instead have two happy dogs coexisiting and peace in our house again. I highly recommend Jaimie to anyone, from new puppy owners, to anyone who may be experiencing a more serious problem like we were. Also, don't be discouraged that he books very far in advance. We initially booked a private session two months in advance, but due to cancellations were able to fit in two more private sessions before that session (4 sessions total in less than 2 months). I really enjoyed working with Jaimie! He is super professional and friendly, and his rates are very reasonable. I contacted him after my 2 year old lab Shar Pei was in need of some long overdue basic obedience training. Jamie is Amazing! My Fiance and I had recently combined our households which include a female husky/lab mix and a female cattle-dog/lab mix. At first everything was peachy. Then it seemed all of a sudden they only wanted to kill each other. With Jamie's guidance and training we were able to establish a firm pack order and re-take control of our headstrong dogs. Now they coexist quite peacefully once again and we stick to Jamie's regimen of exercise and obedience. I wouldn't recommend anyone but Jamie to help you learn to tame your headstrong dog. read more

We called Jaimie after we tried to enroll our 10-month-old Golden in an intermediate training class. We had been through the beginner/puppy series of classes (twice) before we moved to Sacramento. We had the basics down, but needed help with leash walking, pulling, and getting him to listen to our commands the first time we gave them. When we tried to sign up for an intermediate class elsewhere, we were told that we had to first complete their beginners class (and once again practice sit, down etc. for 6-weeks and $180?!)!! So we found Jaimie on Google and gave him a call. He came to our house, and for 90 minutes he showed us how to interact with our dog at home in a way that gets him to respect us. It was exactly what we needed. He showed us how to give commands correctly so that we only had to say them once, helped us mark boundaries to keep our dog out of areas we didn't want him (like the dining room when we're eating or the entryway when we are greeting company), gave us activities to do that stimulate our pup mentally and physically, and talked us through a ton of other behaviors that we could easily change to reinforce to our dog that he takes the lead from us. After Jaimie left, he sent us an email that covered EVERYTHING he had gone over, which we really appreciated, because it can be hard to remember all the little things after and hour and a half of information. Now he have a reference guide on our fridge that we can easily refer to when we need a refresher. It was exactly what we needed and with our knew knowledge we are immediately seeing results!! I also cannot say enough good things about Jamie. We were pretty lost trying to deal with some dog aggression issues when we contacted Jamie. I think the surprising thing that I learned, was that the training was not for the dog, but for ME! We had to put a lot of work into staying consistent with the training and the pinch collar (which I was not a fan of before I realized it's purpose) both have helped tremendously. In 3 sessions, we have made enough progress that we comfortable working on our own now, but I know we couldn't have got here without this training. I asked Jaimie to help me with some in-home behavior issues I was having with my one-year old lab. We met at my place and Jaimie established that all these behaviors were rooted in the fact that my dog doesn't know that I'm the alpha - but my dog definitely understood that Jaimie was the alpha! Jaimie is very knowledgeable and has a wonderful way with dogs. He understands a dogs movements and reactions and is able to explain them well to owners. Our little rescue dog came with some issues we weren't expecting. She is still working through some fears and is learning to trust, which she is doing, but she has amazing manners now, especially in our home. We learned how to claim the space by the door when someone arrives, as well as work on doorbell desensitizing. She waits until released to eat. She also waits for us to go through a door and doesn't go through until released. She is also much better on a leash and we learned a ton about managing her anxieties while out in public. we are extremely satisfied with the results we have gotten after a couple sessions with Jaimie and continue to enjoy the progress as we continually employ the different techniques Jaimie taught us to address our concerns with our dogs. we had originally planned on having Jaimie help us with a new dog Jager which we had for a couple months when we decided to work with Jaime but ended up asking him to help us with our other dog as well. our new dog Jager was aggressive and unpredictable with visitors to our home, uncontrollable on leash and would run away any time there was an opportunity while our other dog Cassius had never been good on a leash and could be skittish around some people. After working with Jaimie over the course of three sessions, we are thrilled at the progress we have seen. we can now have guest over with out worrying about what we will do with the dogs, walking them in the morning has become a positive experience without them pulling and Jager waits at an open door where a couple months before she would have sprinted out. we recently took our dogs to a pet friendly beach which would have not been possible prior to our training sessions. Jamie is awesome! We did classes, videos, training at a dog resort and nothing worked as good as what Jamie taught us is 3 sessions. We had 2 dogs at the time and he covered any issues we had with them. We called Jaimie after my husband came home one day with a 75-lb stray pitbull who, while totally friendly, was lacking in any form of training. My family recently saved a 2 year old dog from a local rescue and quickly found that the dog had come serious aggression issues, and also learned behavioral issues - to name one, lifting his leg to us and everyone who came to our home! Jaimie came, met the dog, took full control of the situation, where I couldn't, and gave me a detailed plan for working with this dogs particular needs. The next day, after the dog had become extremely aggressive with our son (twice!), I spoke with Jaimie who recommended that we re-home the dog back to the rescue (the rescue had provided us with a two week trail period as no one knew anything about this particular dog, i.e. good with children, other animals, etc.). When the aggression took place against my son I automatically felt that I should return the dog, though as we had just rescued him I also was torn with wanting to do anything possible to help the dog. Jaimie professionally helped me make the logical, and right, decision in returning the animal so it could find the right home for his particular needs, i.e., no children to stress him out! I was very impressed that he recommended that I re-home this dog as another trainer could have easily told me that we could work on the dogs aggression (at the risk of my child) - and they could keep charging me! Not that I would have done it, but never-the-less. He then worked with us in finding the correct breed and disposition of dog that would fit our family - for no charge! We found a wonderful Goldendoodle puppy and have been so blessed with this amazing dog - who is a perfect fit for our family! Jaimie has given me some very valuable tools to begin training our new family member and has just been a pleasure to work with. I cannot say enough about Jaimie! He is professional, courteous, calm, easy to be around and above all, wonderful with my almost 2-year old year Boxer, Kaiah. We have had her since she was a 9-week old pup and I have taken her to several obedience classes over the last couple of years. I did everything I thought I was supposed to do to have a well trained, well mannered dog. And she was obedient...about 30% of the time. But, anytime we left the house, she was so distracted that it was as if I wasn't even there which creates all sorts of problems. And anytime someone came over to the house, she was over the top excited! And the list goes on. Jaimie helped me see that I was sending her mixed signals. He told me that she was generally an insecure and anxious dog and that NEVER had occurred to me...I thought she was very bold and not afraid of anything. Boy, was I wrong. She was afraid of loud noises, including my own loud voice, so Jaimie taught me how to use softer commands and she responded to that immediately! She was anxious about things moving in the wind outside, or a dog passing by, or a person on the sidewalk. Jaimie showed me how to refocus her attention on me and let her know that I had everything under control so she didn't have to worry. What a difference! I had also been walking her on a Gentle Leader for over a year (which she did not like at all) and thought I would never get her out of it. To my amazement, Jaimie took it off her during our first session, put her in a regular rolled leather collar and walked her on a loose leash! Just like that. Kaiah had been pulling me around for almost 2 years!! After only 1session with Jaimie, Kaiah now walks on a loose leash with happy, relaxed, floppy ears. Our walks are so much more enjoyable now. She is so much more relaxed and so am I. We had also been having some aggression issues with Kaiah toward other dogs while on the leash and at the dog park. I could never predict what she was going to do. I stopped going to the dog park which was our favorite place to go. Then I hired Jaimie. After just 2 sessions working on the basics of Kaiah taking her cues from me, we met Jaimie at the dog park, greeted other dogs, and had such a great and relaxing time!
