I have been in the fitness industry my entire life. Whether it be playing competitive sports, coaching and training others, or having my own trainer, fitness is a huge part of who I am. Because of my background, I need to work with a trainer who knows their stuff inside and out, one that will push me, and one that understands the fundamentals of exercise physiology and stays away from the hot, hip, and often dangerous trends. JT was all of that and more. I came to JT with a specific goal and only three short weeks to reach it. Three weeks for a fitness program is like a blink of an eye. It is quick. I worked with him twice a week where he pushed me, encouraged me, supported me, and also made sure I left smiling. Within those six sessions, my strength increased exponentially, my stamina improved, and my mental game took huge strides forward (never thought I would be able to do 200 pushups in a day). Each time I came to train with JT, the studio was clean and he was there ready to go. He never wasted time, and he never stalled while coaching me through the workout. He was organized, thorough, methodical, and prepared. I looked forward to my sessions all week. On the in between days, JT would check in with me to see how I was feeling and how my workouts were going. His love for what he does and excitement for my progress always came through the messages. I started working out with Jake and JT right before the pandemic when they opened the new Studio 30 location. After quarantine started, I joined their classes on Zoom, and it became a refreshing morning routine that my whole family looked forward to. My kids would watch me from the breakfast table and refer to them as "the brothers." The workouts gave me energy and momentum in fitness when we couldn't do much. They were reliable, consistent, and optimistic in uncertain times. I still think about that aspect of quarantine with nostalgia. Fast forward three years later, I went back to the brothers to help me with my fitness goals which were, at the time, progressing after some health issues from COVID and a bone fracture. I was ready and excited about what they said they could deliver, so I signed up. That same week, I took a fall during the heavy rains. After taking a month off and some support from a chiropractor, dry needling, and other body workers, I went back to JT, who was a great partner in my healing. He checked in with me before and throughout my workouts and quickly made adjustments as needed. JT adjusted our workouts as I recovered to meet my current strength and fitness. JT has become a trusted partner, understanding how to move and recover from injuries, having had his own injuries. He is well-informed in training and performance. He shares his lifelong knowledge of fitness and recovery, giving me new ways to think about training, fitness, and recovery. He remains curious about new ideas, techniques, and technologies I come across, presumably to consider and try, which I appreciate about him. He is incredibly positive, pleasant to train with, and he keeps you accountable for your health and fitness goals. The music in the studio is the best; it keeps you super pumped. He has transformed my body through meal planning and training despite the physical limitations of my injury. I would say, yes, I would definitely recommend Jake and JT. JT has gotten me close to meeting my goals through the spring and summer, even though I have been recovering and unable to take my workouts to the next level. Prior to finding Jake and JT my visits to a gym were solely for yoga and more recently Zumba. These days I'm surprised and delighted to feel how rapidly my body is adapting and transforming due to their brief but vigorous personalized training sessions. Using quick-paced workouts and individual guidance, these two competent, caring, health-oriented brothers are motivating me to move beyond my limits and, within a couple of weeks I'm already experiencing more overall strength and endurance. Jake and JT are volunteers at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boys & Girls Club in Marin City, CA. They run a weekly health and fitness class for our middle school youth. We're extremely lucky and pleased to have these two enthusiastic young men donating their time and energy to BGC. I consider myself lucky to have met the 3 trainers: Jake, JT and Markus. Prior to meeting them I was unsuccessful in achieving my weight and/or health goals. Going to their workouts and following their diet recommendations, as much as I could, has helped me to lose over 20 lbs and has turned my health around In the right direction. Beside other goals, It has helped me to control my cholesterol levels and control my blood pressure. I was taking medication for Type 2 diabetes for over 8 years and was pleasantly surprised when my physician recently informed me that all of my blood labs have been looking good and because of the changes that have occurred, I don't need to take the meds at this point. Moreover, my physicians have told me this year- 'I don't know what you are doing but keep doing it.' I have been a fitness buff for most of my adult life. I have weight trained in a gym, did a lot of aerobic based dancing, been a runner for many years, did a few tri's and 1/2 marathons in recent years, but never really had a partner or specific direction. Partnering with JT and Jake I now realize how much more fun it is to work out with someone else cheering me on and helping me to push myself on those days I just don't have it in me. Jake, JT, and Marcus have helped me lose 20 lbs. in less than a year. Their HIIT workouts four times a week coupled with patient encouragement have helped me to become more disciplined about exercise as well as my food choices. Also, because of the individualized attention they give based on each person's abilities and goals, they helped me immensely during my recent recovery from Achilles' tendon repair surgery in May. Five months post surgery, I was able to complete a half marathon and I attribute a big part of that success to the careful and tailored HIIT workouts that I did with the RBF guys before the half marathon. Also, I cannot say enough about how great these guys are in their work with teens. They are wonderful role models donating their time to coach, as well as having extensive knowledge about training young athletes of every level from beginner to elite athlete. My teenage daughter has enjoyed taking the HIIT classes as well as receiving excellent basketball training from Marcus before her high school season started.
