Came here to watch a Monday night football game and was pleasantly surprised. I got the fried shrimp & fried catfish with fries and it was amazing. The seafood was fresh and fried to perfection. The service was great and the vibes were great with everyone being invested in the football game.

I'm so glad I ended up at this spot!!! What a find! The bartender was awesome. She was super nice and helpful. The place was not crowded at all. We came here because the burger place we went turned us away due to be full. So we walked and found this spot. I ordered the Jake's Crush in orange. It was so refreshing and so good. I also ordered the Sloop Burger and added Bacon. Let me tell you. This was one of the best burgers I ever had. The guacamole and Mayo was spilling out....so good!! The fries....amazing! I don't know what kind of fries and how they cook them but they are awesome! My son loved his Ace Burger. We were stuffed. If you are looking for a chill spot with friends without a huge crowd...and some amazing burgers....go here!!

Jake's is a small neighborhood sports bar with a nice backyard patio. It's a good spot to grab a beer with friends, watch a game or hang on the outdoor patio. Pros - friendly staff (Marissa and chris were great) - solid wings - good bar food - good beer selection - dog friendly patio (they'll even bring you water for your furry friends) - outside TV Cons - could use music in the back patio Overall, i recommend Jake's for a casual drink with friends and some solid bar food. The outside patio is a nice bonus if you have a dog or feel more comfortable during covid.

Cute little bar, ended up going into here when the beer garden down the street was busy. The drinks are decent - the lemon drop shots are good but the green tea shots weren't. There is indoor and outdoor seating, there were dogs outside. The bathrooms were large and clean. Be careful when walking though, the air conditioner was dripping a lot so the floor around was soaked in water

Jake's - a new neighborhood bar that opened recently on 7th. The space is nice, long bar, some tables and lots of TVs. Drafts and wine (and maybe cocktails) are $1 off during HH. Food is ok, not great. Fried pickles were my favorite, mozz tots (fried mozzarella bites) came out cold and were served with a sauce that tasted like a salsa/marinara mix, and chorizo cheese fries were underwhelming (cheese sauce and bad chorizo on thick cut fries). Overall, a fine spot to go for a drink, but they still need time to get the kitchen sorted.

Both visits I had were excellent. They have a proper Irish draft list plus some others, and they pour a nice pint. I had bangers and mash my first night and the sausage was some of the best I've had. There was a good mound of mash and the gravy was dark and rich. I appreciated the onions added on too. Night two I got shepherd's pie and was quite happy. Rich sauce and mildly charred mash on top made for a fine meal. I'd gladly order the sausages again and would love to come back for the fish and chips. Worth noting: the service is excellent. She Said: I was happy that He agreed (happily agreed) to return to The Celtic House because I would have been bummed to miss out. I had the chicken pot pie which is darn near impossible for me to resist. Outside of my own and my dear Aunt Peggy's, this was some of the best pot pie I've had. The gravy was the right thickness, the chicken wasn't over cooked (which is hard to pull off in this format), and the puff pastry on top was light and fluffy but with enough oomph to it to hold up to the gravy. The only thing I'd change was more veggies in the dish, but that's my personal preference. As he noted, the service was terrific and I appreciated the aplomb with which our bartender managed her patrons. Potty Points: No trip to the potty for me on this visit!

I ordered the SW Salad ($16.50) with a steak add on ($9.00) at medium temp. I also ordered a cup of Clam Chowder ($5.95) as an appetizer. Chowder came out pretty much right on top of my salad, but no big deal. Chowder was decent taste, but only found one clam. Ok whatever. Salad came out looking like a side salad on a large plate with five slices of rare, tough steak. It was so rare, that it was extremely hard to cut through, but again, who was I going to talk to about it. No wait staff would even look my way. I couldn't even get a refill on my water and there is no place in the app to order a glass of water...so that's that. Unfortunately it was just an extremely bad experience for $40. I'll be looking for dinner somewhere else tomorrow night.

I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming.
