The margaritas were so good. I had a specialty dish with chicken and shrimp. My husband had the enchilada and chili rellano dish. Both were delicious and too big to eat in one seating. Great service, great drinks, and yummy, authentic Mexican food. We're originally from AZ and are usually skeptical about Mexican restaurant reviews in this region, but this place has some legit options. The salsa was very mild. I would recommend offering a spicier option to those who like spice. I was craving a tamale, so I got a combo meal with rice & beans. The tamale was good, the enchilada was okay, but if we're ever back in Hot Springs, I'll be getting what my husband got (the Jalapenos Fajitas - steak, chicken & chorizo fajitas). Soooo spicy & flavorful. We also each got a frozen margarita - mango and lime, which were yummy. FOOD: Food was a mixed bag, especially on spice level. Some stuff was utterly bland (including the salsa that came with the complimentary chips, which was only saved by liberal use of the hot sauce at the table), other was savory/spicy and quite tasty. The menu has eleventy-zillion items. That's not unusual at a Mexican restaurant, but Jalapenos seems to take it to an extreme. It took me inordinately long to read through the offerings and find the right combo of entree and toppings and sides. I liked what I got, but it felt like work. Drinks were also a mixed bag -- I'm used to the marg menu to show different levels of quality (and cost); this one seemed focus on the rainbow of flavors of margs you could get. When I did get a "top shelf," it was tasty but weak. Other drinks around the table were better received. SERVICE: Dinner was slow in coming out, but our server was there every several minutes to check on us and to see if we wanted more drinks. ATMOSPHERE: This is a new restaurant in an older building, and they have dropped a ton of money on decor. It feels almost over the top. NET-NET: The parking lot was full when we arrived early on a Saturday night, so the locals seem to enjoy it. Finally some good Mexican food in the area! We were exploring Hot Springs from Rapid and asked a for a local recommendation for lunch. Jalapeños Grill did not disappoint. Chips and salsa are served when you sit down and the salsa was very good. Huge portions and great food. The enchiladas were great but fyi the salsa verde is SPICY. Moved to Hot Springs 2yrs ago from LA area, having been living there for 45yrs. Ate in innumerable Mexican restaurants during all those years, some just average, some truly awful, and some really great. Jalapeno's is not the greatest Mexican place I ever ate in, but definitely way above average. Have eaten there probably 5X for lunches, 3X for dinners, and never been close to disappointed on any of these visits. The service has always been prompt and attentive, the food generally comes out quickly, and the quality and freshness is plainly evident. Have never experienced any of the service missteps/failures several of the 2star reviewers noted. That said, we know no place open 7 days/wk most every day of the year can be perfect. It is, in a nutshell, damn decent Mexican food @ a reasonable price, especially when compared to other places in town which serve mediocre food @ what I consider unreasonable prices. Only other "Mexican" place in town is a joke. COVID has, unfortunately, allowed many places serving pedestrian food in skimpy portions @ high prices to proliferate. This place is DEFINITELY not in that group. I will continue going, and encourage others to do so. Matter of fact, heading there today, and looking forward to it! read more

Jalapeños grill was a pleasant surprise, they took over a large building and made the inside very appealing. The food is always been great I have yet to be disappointed with the food here yet. If you're looking for food in Hot Springs on a weekday, this is the only spot I found open past 8 pm. This building is unassuming from the outside and almost looks like a house. Inside has a good ambiance and feels more modern than you'd expect. I received excellent and prompt service while seated at the bar. The strawberry margarita was average. I got the fajitas with chicken, steak and shrimp for my meal. The fajitas were pretty good and hit the spot. They came out quickly and were better than I expected. It wasn't the most authentic Mexican restaurant but it's certainly worth a stop if you're hungry. read more

This is the most beautiful Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I'm from California and stopped by while visiting the Mammoth Site and we stopped by after being on the road for awhile. The staff is very polite and friendly, the atmosphere is brimming with culture, and the food was authentic and delicious. We paid for four separate meals and it was amazingly affordable. We have been here maybe three times now and each time the food is worse : ( The first time it was lunch and it was Really good, wonder if it was because they weren't as busy ? We were also thinking how lucky it was to have this place in the area But... not if they can't really maintain the quality and food. The last time we were there to celebrate Graduation and had guests with us and some of the food served was actually cold on our plates! Also I have to suggest that they come up with a new practice for drink refills rather than taking the glass away from the table. We have been there several times. The food has always been good, however the service has slowed down big time from when we first ate there. Plan to spend some time there if there are many cars in the parking lot. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice with thoughtful decorations throughout. In the summer heat the restaurant when full can be toasty inside....they may need to work on the HVAC. read more

Stopped here on our last night before heading home. Atmosphere, service and food were the best we experienced on our trip. We had the enchiladas elena and the enchiladas verdes, nice portions, great flavor and a nice smoky heat to the verde sauce. Had a large group, but other large groups that arrived later were served first. We called and warned them of our size beforehand and they said they could accommodate. About a 2 1/2 hour wait.
