This place is underrated. The service is superb. The food is tasty. Overall, Jalapenos at this location delivers an adequate experience for the customer. But, if you're a Tex-Mex or just Mex connoisseur and know of really great restaurants in this class elsewhere around the country, you may find your dining experience here disappointing. Thus, our rating here is for the Savannah area because, this area has had, for decades substandard Tex-Mex and Mex restaurants. We stopped in for lunch. One entree was Carne Asada -- very good for this area. And the other entree was the Arrachera -- also a flank steak dish with different seasonings. Both were very good for a restaurant that delivers food in this category of restaurant. Try it. You might like it. This place is in a shopping plaza less than 1/4 mile off I-95. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. The service was very nice and quick. She checked on us multiple times which was nice. The food came out quick. It was hot when it came out. The fish was nice and crunchy. It was so delicious. This ceviche was chefs kiss. As I was eating, I saw somebody else order food and it came out sizzling and smoking. It would be an interesting study to see how many Mexican restaurants have the word "jalapeño" in their business name, but despite the somewhat standard business name, Jalapeños Mexican Grill is an overall decent choice for Mexican food if you are in the Richmond Hill, Georgia area. Food was yucky ! Way too salty, the wraps tasted stale and the cheese was tasteless- like they use cheap ingredients. We had combos burritos, enchilada and chili rellano that came with no condiments. Small chain and this was the second one I tried. We usually go to the one in Pooler. The only difference is the size of the restaurant. This one is a little smaller so you will feel more cozy / cramped. Everything is else is the same. The food is outstanding, the service is lightning fast and the prices are insanely reasonable. I actually do not know how they keep the doors open. I try to tip at least 25% because I feel so guilty how inexpensive this place is. Please go and support these restaurants. read more

Pretty good Mexican restaurant with a huge menu. I came for lunch on a Thursday and it was surprisingly busy. Our waiter was nice, but somewhat distant. The chips and salsa were above average but the cheese dip was watery. For my meal I got the chicken fajita baked potato. It was essentially a large potato with chicken fajitas and queso on top, and salad on the side. It was a very delicious and unique meal that I have never seen at another Mexican restaurant. Yelp doesn't have Half points, but I do give this place a 2.5. It's only this low because the food is just not good. We did have amazing service! As soon as we sat down, we had to ask to have the table cleaned off. It was a bit sticky. It was cleaned promptly and our drink order was taken and came out quickly with chips and salsa. The salsa was good but the chips were very stale. I do have to say this is my second time here. My first time was a year ago. I am used to going to the one on whitemarsh but recently moved to Richmond hill and I was excited to have it close by. Came in on a Saturday at noon and it wasn't busy. Service was so slow. Waiter kept coming by and saying one more minute for drinks like 3 times. Finally got our drinks. Myself and the person I was with both ordered the chicken burrito and we both got pork instead. Then was extremely pushy to order. When we asked for one minute, which is truly all we needed, she decided to blow us off for about 15. Then she came back and took our order, messing it up when she put it in. If the one star is for anything aside from the requirement to have one their kitchen was prompt, and fixed the order she messed up quickly. That being said the food was mediocre at best. Went in thinking we would get in and out quick for lunch. Went to sit down and The booths are so low to the floor and not comfy. The chips/salsa are great. Service wasn't good she was whispering and had to keep asking her to speak up so I could hear her. I ordered a lunch special number 10 and when it came wasn't what I ordered when I told the waitress, she said that they can remake it but they wouldn't charge me extra to do that. I tried to explain I shouldn't have to pay extra for what I originally ordered anyway. In the meantime, she asked if we wanted another sweet tea and ice water we said yes, and she never ever brought it but yet walked passed many times after asking. In the meantime, his combo #10 was so greasy and no flavor. He asked her to let the kitchen know to drain the grease from mine when they make it. She went up front and talked to the hostess who was on her phone the entire time. When she walked past, I asked her with a Kitchen said, knowing that she didn't even go back there and she said they don't speak English so they won't understand her. WOW, I was very impressed with our dinner and service. After reading some of the reviews I was wondering if we really wanted to stop here or not. Guess this just shows that you can't believe everything you read. I had the Texas Nacho Supreme and it was more than I could eat. Hot, boy was it ever hot and I'm not talking about spicy hot. My food was not cool or cold as lots of the reviews said theirs was. Now service was great, our waiter did not hang on our table but would stop by and ask or just refilled what was needed. I had the carnitas, they were pretty good. Not much to them just pork and onions. My wife had the Jalapeños combo which she said was good other than the Chile relleno. The enchilada and burrito was her favorite. I debated getting a margarita because I'm not a big fan of store bought margarita mix. When I asked the waitress what the mix was like she told me they make their own. Me being me asked what all they put in it, if they use real lime juice etc. come to find out they mix two different store bought mixes and call that their own. Needless to say I didn't get a margarita, instead I got the Mexican mule it wasn't bad, it was pretty small in my opinion. The tequila was infused with jalapeños. So glad I didn't read reviews before ordering. Some of my favorite Mexican I've had in Savannah. We ordered delivery and live 10 miles away. It was packed well and the portions were generous. I've been a loyal customer for the last 4 years since we moved to Richmond hill. I'm sad to say I will no longer dine in Jalapenos. The bartender and manager/ so called owner had the worst attitudes \customer service I have ever encountered. I have noticed a decline in the last year or so. I hope that they get new management sad to see such a wonderful place go down hill like this. They are always messing up our meals I would let it go due to the great taste and how will they where were to fix it. Now they have no customer service skills what's so ever. Wish I could give this franchise a better score, but honestly this store is the worst. The servers seemed aloof and desperately displayed how much they didn't want to be working there. My server in particular looked to be a hostess that was give a servers book just that day. Through her demeanor seemed sweet, it was obvious she was not familiar with customer service or anything related to the food business industry. The table next to me had a spill that went unnoticed by the staff as they walked by. I told a server/food runner walking by about he situation and he just stared at the table and then went and returned with my server in which she asked what I needed. I followed with stating again about the spill and she too stared at it and said ok and then walked away to the corner behind the bar and dipped in some water without notifying anyone. I was dumbfounded. The food isn't as good either. I had the carñe asadá and the meat was way over medium or medium well or for that matter well done. Parts of my meat were so over cooked it was similar to jerky or crispy bacon. I wasn't actually checked up on unless I had my hand up or stopped another server when I needed something such as something so basic as silverware or napkins. I didn't see any form of management in the store and this was at about 6pm on a Saturday night on 16 March 2019, which is odd since it is a weekend and not only that St. Patrick's day weekend. I don't recommend this store for your dining experience. It's not that good and it's not worth what you pay for. read more

Usually here just for the margaritas. The staff is always friendly. You can bring your dog to sit out in the patio. Salsa is tasty and my wife loves to get the chicken chimichanga.
