I just needed it in around the waist and this place was recommended to me by another cheerleader who had the same problem. The service was excellent and the turnaround was really fast. I only had to wait a few days (though I think that I probably could have got it back faster had I told them I needed it; as it was I said I didn't need it for a few weeks so they could take their time). It wasn't particularly cheap (I think it was £18 to get it taken in) but it is something that I can't do and it's quite a skill so I wasn't too horrified.

The fact that they actually perform a lot of the alterations at the shop itself means that a reasonable amount of space is available to them. One thing I love about this shop is that it doesn't beat around the bush. Instead of being coy about prices, they have mounted a comprehensive list of all of the alterations that they do along with the price for each. There are far too many options to mention here, but suffice to say the prices are very reasonable and the scope of what they can do is impressive. They perform alterations for both men's and women's clothing, and they are pretty quick about it too!

Mi Mi is one of a few new businesses on Clifton Street that have opened up despite the new one way…read moresystem that the council implemented about a year ago. In fact, there's a good chance that Mi Mi have opened up in consequence to it! Owing to the fact that this new road system has dramatically adversely affected trade on the street, it has meant that quite a few shop units have been up for lease in recent months. Mi Mi's is an alterations shop that offers ironing services and repairs and so is the kind of shop that can rely on local trade. Hopefully this will mean that it will fare well in this area, regardless of the limited access to the street.. It appears to be a well-run business that has already got its own website and attractive business cards that detail the full services available. It states that Mi Mi's specialise in 'garment alterations and repairs' as well as offering a 'professional ironing service'. It continues... 'Mi Mi will even collect and deliver your professionally pressed garment free of charge from your office or your home'... now that's an offer worth taking up! For the record: I detest ironing!

He has invested the last eight years of his life building up his tailoring business and is ready to sell it. Mrs Khira, a Gujarati in origin, is picking up the mantle, but stepping into Lulu's shoes isn't going to be easy. He's a very personable chap, and I'm sure that his loyal customers will miss him. But Mrs Khira is pretty charming too, and so it won't take forever to win the locals over. My only concern is that she doesn't intend to continue offering a full tailoring service, and instead wants to start off on a simple footing, only offering an alterations service. I guess that this has provided the bulk of the business for Lulu in recent years, or else why would she cut out the tailoring option? She's lived in Cardiff for five years, but has 20 years of tailoring experience under her belt... but I'm not entirely sure whether this is in a sales capacity rather than actually making garments herself... please fill me in if you ever use this shop. Thanks.

Very highly recommended.

They have repaired the skirt so well that it looks brand new, and no sign of any damage. The service cost about £9, which is absolutely brilliant (it would have cost a million times more in London). Without doubt they have a very talented seamstress here!

I nipped down the road and was greeted by a friendly man on his own in the shop, he cut a spare for my door key in a matter of minutes and sent me on my way a few quid lighter. I say this because if you enter the Cardiff Market from the St Mary's Street end then you'll go past a big Timpson branch who offer shoe repairs and key cutting and various other services. If you walk a little further and into the main market you'll see Yan & Sons perched on the left hand side offering much the same service. They're just smaller. OK, a lot smaller. But there's an up side to their size and flow of custom - a quicker, more personal service for you. They offer a while-you-wait service for their key cutting and shoe repairs and various other bits and bobs they do, which isn't really an issue seen as you're in the Cardiff Market, one of my favourite place to wander around.
