This place isn't really what I expected. I have to admit, it's probably much more authentic than what I was expecting. On my first visit, I had the oxtails, which were drenched in a dark, rich gravy. I ordered them served over the rice and beans. My other visit, I had the curry chicken served over the yellow rice, with plantains. My hubby had the curry goat served over yellow rice with cabbage. We also ordered the jerk wings to start us out. It was all very good, but nothing totally wowed us. Then I tried the jerk chicken with the sauce. I was totally wowed! In fact, I took my son back the very next day and he ordered the jerk wings. He loved them! Now I'm hooked on their beef meat pies. Oh my gosh - those things are amazing! The prices were very reasonable and the service was fantastic! It's a very casual place. It's a good lunch spot, for sure. read more

My favorite Jamaican restaurant so far. Owner is always in a good mood. He sometimes will dance and sing behind the counter while is cooking or helping people. My favorite there is the Brown Stewed Chicken with yellow rice and cabbage. You can't go wrong with his Curry Chicken or Jerk Chicken either. I also finally tried the Oxtail and it was amazing! Good food, with a most entertaining front counter experience. We were serenaded by the host as he prepared our orders. The goat was fabulous with rice and mixed vegetables, my wife had jerk chicken so I wasn't the only jerk at the table for once, she loved it. If you're in the mood for some Jamaican food, this is the spot. I ordered jerk chicken with yellow rice, cabbage and corn bread. Everything was delicious. Their jerk sauce had a kick to it but they don't have spicy jerk sauce. Unfortunately, they were out of plantains which was a bummer. I would definitely give this place another try. read more

Get food here! This was our last meal during a four-day trip to Mobile over 4th of July weekend, and it was so delicious. It was hard to find places open for dinner on a Monday evening, but we finally found that this was open, and we LOVED the food. The only downfall was they were out of a lot of items (ex: no plantains), but we ordered most of what they had left. Also, the food could have been much spicier (we were a group of spice lovers), but the flavor made up for lack of heat. read more

Ordered food over the phone and the person who took my order repeated it back to me, asked if "that was it" and proceeded to hang up with my face. I overlooked the perceived slight and headed to the restaurant to pick up the food. I ordered 2 combo platters: 1 with oxtails & curry chicken and the other with jerk ribs & jerk chicken. I also ordered some beef & chicken patties. Upon arriving, the order wasn't prepared and the guy who originally took my order proceeded to start putting my items together. The food is kept in warming dishes behind the counter and a sneeze guard. When it was ready, instead of telling me so, the rude boy proceeded to stare me down rather than say my name to alert me (I saw this from my peripheral). After about a minute, he finally said "hey, it's ready". I paid, also purchased some scotch bonnet sauce and headed home to grub. The food was well spiced and, dare I say, some of the best Jamaican food I've had stateside! But... My only issue besides the service was there's not much meat given. The meal was comprised of mainly bone and at one point, I was chewing on what I thought was chicken but turned out to be a bone that was softened and had the appearance of chicken. I spent $41 (not including the tip or scotch bonnet sauce) and with that amount I expect and deserve meat. Not chicken skin and definitely not bone that's resembles chicken. My fiancé had the same complaint with his dish. I would only come back for the patties and maybe jerk shrimp. There shouldn't be any bone in jerk shrimp, right?! read more

Clean enough, nice to have a Jamaican option. Wasn't wowed but...it's Mobile, AL. They ran out of goat and that's my true measurement of a JA place, so maybe next time my review will change. No spicy patties either. I had the oxtail. It seemed like a JA BBQ, maybe jerk bbq was on it as it was a bit sweet. Meat was very tender. Loved the cabbage. Tasted like I cooked it. Server was okay. Food served quickly. Perfect for lunch. I got the medium and it was plenty. Very good value, and again, wonderful to have this choice in such a tiny town!! read more

This restaurant served me BBQ chicken instead of Jerk Chicken because the jerk sauce wasn't "ready". His solution was to give me jerk sauce to put on top of the BBQ. Poor customer service. read more

I came here because Jamaican cafe is closed right now. I ordered jerk shrimp and I love that my shrimp were cooked fresh but my yellow rice and cabbage didn't have much flavor and the jerk sauce on the shrimp was intolerably spicy and I love spicy food but I could not finish it. I tried adding sugar at home and it was still overly spicy it had my chest burning. Also they had no cornbread. read more

My boyfriend and I have been on a 5 day road trip, making stops and exploring as we go. Knowing that restaurants would be closed by the time we reached our next destination - we chose to make a pit stop for dinner in Mobile, AL. Of course we checked yelp for great places along our route, and found this one. This was worth the stop! The food was filling and flavorful - and the gentleman working was pretty chill. The reggae music playing as we ate provided the perfect amount of relaxation before continued on our journey. Personally, I recommend the chicken curry with yellow rice. I was very excited about trying this restaurant out and was very disappointed. Things were bad from the get go. First off I wanted the curry goat but it was not ready for another 30 minutes. I came in around 12:30, well into lunch. Also the oxtail was actually beef. Going though the menu only about half of it was actually available. Although the place was not busy things went slowly because it seemed only one person was working. Maybe they were just having a bad day but you need more than one person. To the worst part the food was not flavorful. There was a lot of it but it didn't have flavor. The jerk did not taste like jerk. The vegetables were just steamed veggies from your grocery freezer aisle. I know good Jamaican food and this is not it people. read more

I don't know much about Jamaican food. I stop by here after work now and again for a quick and healthy takeout. I've had the jerk chicken and the goat and a couple of other things that I forget. It's quite tasty, but the sides leave something to be desired. The mixed vegetables are straight out of the bag, not very interesting at all. The cabbage has a bit more of a homemade feel to it and the mac and cheese is good if you can get it. It's usually out by the time I get there in the evening. Overall I say it's about average. it's a convenient healthy choice. I'm always on the lookout for some fresh and tasty foods. So far Mobile is not impressing me, but I'm trying to get out and see more of the city. I'll have to try the Jamaican place on Azalea for comparison sake. read more

A work colleague and I had lunch here a few weeks back and very much enjoyed our lunch. I am not very knowledgeable of Caribbean cuisines so I can not speak to the authenticity of the menu. However the meal I had was very good. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely helpful and friendly. He gladly took extra time to assist us in ordering and explaining menu items. The restaurant was spotless, one of the cleanest I've ever seen. The prices are very reasonable for the portions. First time there it was deliousous. ..I had the oxtail with jerk chicken yellow rice with cabbage. My husband had the oxtail bean and rice with cabbage very yummy. My daughter and husband shared a curry goat and jerk ribs she said she could eat the sause out of a shoe it was that yummy but the ribs were a bit dry. Curry goat was very amazing a first timer must try! I've been to Jamaica and the food was to die for this was very authentic!! Very much recommend! The service was wonderful the man that runs it was super sweet and helpful if I had one note of improvement it would be a kids menu or options although he was very accommodating! Thought the food here was great. Everything I tried between two meals was very good. Prices were decent and food is pretty much already made, so it's fast. The restaurant itself is pretty cool, and the guy serving the food (I assume the owner) was really nice and actually Jamaican (don't find too many places where the person cooking matches the actual ethnicity of the restaurant lol). I really like the Jamaican juice I tried and want to go back and try the others. Definitely recommend it. read more

I am slowly working my way through their entire menu. Fantastic food here. Don't forget the Macaroni and Cheese.
