There are heaps of quirky little things you can buy here, including cook books, soft toys and CD's/DVD's. So if you are looking for that last minute gift you are likely to find something here. Post boxes of various sizes are available for rent - perfect if you are a local business or just-so-happen to get a lot of mail! Finally, and this is going to sound ridiculous, but one of the best things about this Post Office is the AIR CONDITIONING. At two different companies that I've worked for, I've had to search for quite specific pieces of office stationary or equipment, and after hunting high and low at more local locations, I've ended up buying from Angleton's, who have sourced these difficult to find items from other locations and done all of the hard work for me. Whereas Officework kept me on hold for ages, only to give me the response: "We don't stock that size", Angleton's actually found me what I wanted and did all of the arranging for me. For that reason, Angleton's are the office admin schlep's best friend.

Not ordered stacks, but rambling mounds. I'm sure the health and safety inspectors would have a field day. Despite this, they've not yet misplaced or lost any of the packages I've sent or received. Something about their system just works. And the staff are extremely helpful. I came in on a Saturday to check for a parcel I was desperately waiting for, and although it was yet to arrive the older chap who works behind the counter offered to let me come in before opening on the Monday morning to check again. That's pretty good customer service in my book. They've got all your standard AusPost goods, plus extended services like passport interviews, so I say skip the shiny clean post office on Lygon and head to this one instead.

Harking back to the country town that The Basin once was, this old wooden building also operates as a gift store, with ornaments and collectable trinkets on display. It also has the best view in Melbourne, with the rolling Dandenongs and adjacent open fields and farms stretching out across the road. In fact, it's hard to believe it's only 30 kms from the CBD. The staff here are always lovely, and more often than not come to my aid when posting a manuscript or music to an awaiting agent. With local knowledge and a love for their community, this post office is sure to send your goods away with care, and send you away with a smile.
