We finally found an appointment that worked for our family, and spent just over an hour at the studio. We first met Leann and her mother, Winne. They were super nice and friendly to help with our two small children. We did 5 or 6 different poses, two for family portraits and 3 or so with the children solo and together. After about 20 minutes, we were ready to view the photos. So we went upstairs to meet the other sister, Kelly. Kelly's job was to make you feel comfortable and able to review the photos on the big screen. They had a great area for children to play while you review the photos and narrow it down. We opted to go with the next size up from our free portrait, which end up being $1,000 and then added a frame for it, which was discounted to $400 for us. Kelly offered the 12 photos we liked as digital package for $200 but I declined as I didn't think I'd print them. All in we spent $1,484 for a framed portrait. I can't wait to receive it in March! I'll update if there's any issues with the portrait but I think they know what they are doing as they've been in business for 40 years.

Morgan did the photos for my sons wedding. She turned what should have been a special day into a 6…read morehour photo shoot, with no regards to time lines for the wedding. From preventing the caterers from starting on time due to keeping people out of the venue for extended times, to preventing the aisle runner to be pulled out because she was standing in the way during the ceremony. She stood in front of the officiant and groom during the wedding. She was obtrusive throughout the wedding and reception, constantly preventing guests from being able to see and enjoy the wedding couple. To further cause timeline issues, she decided that the meal would be served 1 hour before the scheduled time, because she was hot, causing havoc for the caterers and DJ. She then took the entire wedding party back out for additional photos for an hour+ after the meal. Approximately 50% of the guests left while this was occurring as they traveled to see a wedding, and celebrate the couple, not to be neglected. The entire flow of the wedding was constantly disrupted by her unprofessional ability to maintain a schedule. She was more concerned with talking and flirting with the groomsmen than doing her job. In addition she repeatedly made derogatory comments about the grooms family. Unless your intention is to have a photo shoot instead of a wedding, I would recommend finding a photographer that can maintain a schedule and conduct herself professionally.

No words can describe it's beauty so I won't even make an attempt at it. I've been to a lot of farms and this is by far the most gorgeous. While attending the 41st annual Kentucky Bash held at the tent area on the farm, I learned that the owners of Donamire allow Cardinal Hill to host the event on their beautiful farm as their donation. That makes me want to contribute to the Ball family all over again. I don't know if they give tours or not, but if you ever get the opportunity to attend an event here, do it! I sure would love to learn more about this beautiful part of the Bluegrass!

I've been to Donamire Farms twice in my life, both for family reunions, and it's a beautiful setting for such, where thoroughbreds run along fenced rolling Kentucky countryside, and swans float gracefully over placid waters. Horse barns, with interiors kept far more pristine than my boys' bedroom, dot the landscape. A guest house set a couple acres off the main house also lines the circuitous road that travels through the grounds. It, too, is as opulent as the main, albeit a bit smaller, but larger than any place I've ever stayed. It is all a very pleasant backdrop to seeing those I don't see often, likely not often enough.
