Of course we wouldn't be able to do the tour today as my child is ill. I reached out via email to the company. They informed me no refund would be given per their policy (even with sickness). I even inquired about a partial refund, being it was a last minute cancellation, although sickness is never planned. I let them know I can send them hospital records for proof and reference it was still a NO. They even had the nerve to inform me they can reschedule the tour to a later date for a $10 charge. Moving forward I will NEVER purchase anything from this company again. If you choose to please beware of their CANCELLATION POLICY, AND TRY NOT TO GET SICK .

I received another response that noted: "Figured a quick, immediate response was better than a detailed tonight." That was wrong...a quick/immediate response simply telling me to call accomplished nothing but annoying me. By the way, the "detailed tonight" email never came. When the business puts the burden on the customer to track down the business for answers, they may lose business. That happened in my case unless I decide to change my mind and track them down by phone for more info.

My teenaged kids wanted to catch some sharks and he made it happen. We spent the morning fishing for bait and the late morning catching sharks in the bay. I felt like we were out with an old friend. Just came back from a tour with the BEST guide. She was simply adorable…read more Her name is Liv and she is a student at William and Mary college. Therewas a pub walk where we saw the Wren building, a pub called Precarious that had a glorious fire pit outside. It was so cold and windy but Liv kept us warm with her stories. Then we went to Burton Parrish and in between she regaled us with stories about the area adding her own personal touches. This was such a fun event to do in a super awesome location. The only downside was the rest of our tour who were super cheap in tipping our guide. She was very pleasant with everyone and worked very hard in the cold to make sure we had a great time. I wish people understood how hard these kids work. We gave a generous tip and thanked her profuseyfor such a wonderful evening. I highly recommend!!!

I've been wanting to visit this for a while and was lucky to get tickets many months in advance…read more It's on a private property and is open only ~8 times in a year. There were different 2-hour times that you can choose from when I bought the tickets. A full day pass is also available that allows you to enter multiple times in a day. The organizers send emails containing directions to get to the place, tips and other reminders. When they tell you not to wear pretty shoes, listen. Even though it had not rained for the past week when we went, there were areas that were really muddy. Wear boots. Went here on a Saturday afternoon. There was a short orientation at the start near the registration area then we went to the heads of the presidents. It was a cool experience seeing all these huge busts of the presidents. Two brief talks during the visit were (1) trivia about the presidents and (2) history of the place/presidents' heads. A gift shop at the entrance/exit had magnets, postcards, tree ornaments, posters, etc. Had a great time here and was lucky to get those tickets ahead of time because they run out quickly.

When I was there, there were many people in flip-flops, sneakers, and dress shoes, and they could only explore so much. I stayed around up until they closed because as the sun was setting, the photography got better . The best time to visit is later in the day as sunsets. I would definitely do this more than once, as I feel like the photography could change, depending on the weather . I think this is a beautiful park and love how it is aging.

Life is slower when traveling by the Jamestown Scotland Ferry, and it's so much fun!…read more To go across the James River, you can fight traffic on I-64, or sit back and let the ferry captain do the driving. The ferry crosses the James River from either Jamestown or Scotland/Surry. The pleasant (about) 15-minute ride allows you to park your car on the ship and walk the decks to see seagulls or osprey flying by, water lapping the sides, and the oh so gorgeous view. The ferry has an upper viewing deck too, as well as restrooms. The ride is free and runs often at least twice an hour. Check their website for the schedule. Occasionally you may be randomly selected for a car check by security before boarding. This is done on the car with mirrors, but they check your trunk. It's pretty quick. Enjoy!
