Moving into our new townhome we knew right away that we needed to renovate to make it "ours" but we were concerned that we would not be able to find someone that we could work with to accomplish turning someone else's home into ours. But whether by luck or by fate ... we connected with Sharon Sherman of Thyme & Place Design in Wyckoff for the renovation of our entire first floor, including a new kitchen and bathroom. Here are our top 5 reasons we consider ourselves so very fortunate to have found her. (1) She listens and gets to know you. There is no "one size fits all" in her approach to designing for her clients. Rather, she starts with discovering what her client's functional requirements are for the space while also beginning the process of understanding their aesthetic. We never felt that she was imposing her choices on us but rather guiding us to discover what would work functionally and aesthetically. (2) She possesses a beautiful aesthetic sense that allows her to create spaces that you will feel comfortable in, and as much as possible, that are "timeless". (3) She has partnered for many years with a local contractor, Veenstra & Sons, who she trusts to execute her designs and with whom she works extraordinarily well. (4) She stays involved with her projects ... not micromanaging but keeping an open line of communication with her contractor partner, being involved with all important decisions and visiting the site periodically to check in on the progress and that of the work of the sub-contractors (she knows almost all of them and they know the quality of work she expects from them!). We never felt that we, or our project, was ever neglected. (5) While all these reasons would be enough for you to want to engage Sharon for your next project ... there is one more ... and that is she is just fun to work with. Her excitement when she presents a new design, suggests a new type of kitchen appliance to consider or simply comes up with new idea is contagious. I own a beautiful home. I feel very lucky to be able to live in a great town, perfect home with a beautiful yard. When our daughter moved out I had a dream of turning her room into the closet, storage and craft space of my dreams. For two decades I envisioned the space I would create and when it finally came time to make it a reality I was told my ideas couldn't become reality by professionals, until I met Robin. We had high hopes after visiting the design room, reviewing the plans and paying a significant amount of money. Unfortunately, what we hoped for is not what we ended up with. Parts were installed incorrectly, there was dirt and writing left of pieces, the wood glue used on every single piece was dirty. They came back to fix it which slightly improved things but overall, the experience with them was awful and the final product was not worth what we paid for. Yes, I did try and have it repaired and it need replacement not repair, however, I had just had my entire bathroom done by Masters and I thought they would want to help. NOPE! They ignored me, they disregarded me and I will never use them again and I'm warning others of the terrible customer service they offer after the fact. I'm so disappointed not to mention they had done my entire kitchen a year earlier. Horrible!!!

I recently purchased semi-custom kitchen cabinets from Home Supply, and honestly, given the amount…read moreI spent on the project, I should've just gone to Ikea--at least there you can easily find any missing parts yourself. From the start, the quality was disappointing. Some of the handles had stripped screw holes, and there were cracks on the inside back of the cabinet. The storage drawer for trash and recycling was busted from day one--we couldn't even open it fully, and when we reached out for help, the only advice we got was to "just give it a good yank." After doing so, the soft-close feature completely stopped working. It also took months to get a technician to replace the kitchen vent, which turned out to be a mismatched size, causing even more issues. Overall, Home Supply's service falls short. When we reported the issues, we were brushed off, and the staff seemed indifferent unless you were there to buy more products. A very disappointing experience.

It only took him one visit at our home to put the plans together. When I came into the showroom to meet with him, I was blown away. He literally took all my ideas and was able to put it down on paper using the existing footprint of our kitchen. He has an eye and this was an effortless approach. For a small fee, I can purchase the plans or use their cabinets and products, and it will be built into the price.

We bought three vanities from Paramus Kitchen & Bath, one 49" and two 24", and when they were…read moredelivered, quality was well below expectations. All three units had rather big uneven gaps. The drawers on the big one are misaligned. They even installed top drawers in the exact spot where the sinks go, even though we bought the sinks and tops from them at the same time. Our contractor had to tear the drawers apart and reattach the fronts just to make the vanities usable. What is also interesting, when we ordered it, the salesperson did hand-drawing of the big vanity. This drawing is probably the only blueprint that was used during manufacturing. The paint on the edges is already wearing off. There are a couple of places where the primer is showing through. And the vanities we received look somewhat different from the showroom models, which had tight, clean gaps, not the big, uneven ones we got. We even stopped by the store to show them the issues. The person who took our order said she would send someone to our home to look at the problems. We never heard from her again. To be fair, the countertops are exceptionally good. But as we understand it, they are manufactured and installed by a different company that Paramus Kitchen & Bath subcontracts. After vanities were installed, they came to our home, took all the measurements, then in a few days they came again and installed countertops. Top quality. Out of our entire renovation, buying from Paramus Kitchen & Bath was the biggest mistake we made.

We had to go with all new cabinets, new counter choices and more, and John guided us patiently through the entire process, helping us choose the best options for us, from overall style, color scheme, and materials. When we had to make decisions while out of town, again, John came to the rescue -- he showed us designs via FaceTime, and when we weren't sure which granite to choose (all long-distance!), we trusted him to help us decide on which one worked best. He was accessible and beyond patient when we kept fretting about this or that detail. The folks behind the scenes were amazing to work with too: Tania and David at the quarry, who designed the granite slabs and backsplash to highlight the beautiful natural stone, and Slawek, whose expertise with cabinetry is above and beyond.
