Wow. Just... wow. What a hidden gem!! The garlic steak sandwich was out of this world. I can't wait to come back for the prime rib on Fridays! Fries are hot and crispy. The drinks are HEAVY pours and the service is top notch. My server was Kristi and she made me feel like I was family. Stopped to talk and ask about my day, checked in on me multiple times, even accommodated my requests. Jazzy was also an amazing server!!! Her and Kristi worked in tandem and their dining room was running insanely smooth! I didn't see a single customer want for not. Went to Jamie's Broadway Grille on Thursday and tried the ribeye. The steak was actually pretty good and definitely the highlight for me. The zucchini and corn side mix was decent, though I felt the mashed potatoes could've been a little better flavor and texture wise. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back again mainly for the ribeye and hopefully better mashed potatoes next time. The place has a laid-back local neighborhood vibe where you can tell regulars come by to chill and hang out. One thing I noticed is that on a regular evening it seemed like only one server/person was running the floor, bar, and pretty much everything, so service may take a little longer depending on how busy it gets. read more

I am shocked by some of the negative reviews. Jamie's is an old school bar with long history, Cheers (80s sitcom) vibe and holy large portions! Not to mention, they make a nice dirty martini. Whenever I feel like having fish and chips or Irish pub food, I go to Jamie's. My go-to is the Fish & Chips. Again, the portion is very generous and big pieces of fish - not covered in thick batter. But, the secret star (for me) is the potatoes salad side! If calories didn't exist, I would be eating this every day. It taste even better the next day. I also like their Brandy Fried Chicken. I don't know what is in the sauce. It is so darn good. You can see from the picture that their chicken is deep fried. If you're going to eat fried chicken, this is what it should look like. My boys like the smoked prime rib. It's a large portion but great for my growing boys! Attentive and friendly service! I think I have seen the same waitress working there for years. This is an old standby been around forever. i've been coming here since the 70s when it was Shanley's pretty much the same place the same dark bar same small dining room. I come here when I'm in a mood for a steak sandwich they used to have a New York steak sandwich that was really great with a big huge steak on it since we were missing that today we ordered specials of the 16 ounce ribeye steak and 4 rolls and a salad and made myself four steak sandwiches for our table of 4 - it was just what we wanted. Service here is always above excellent. It's an old Homie place that never changes kind of wish they would clean up the bathroom a bit, but it's all good. We love Jamie's. read more

Katie and I joined my sister and her husband for dinner. We ordered drinks, which arrived quickly and were refreshing. We were surprised to see so many empty tables on a Saturday night. While we arrived early - at 5pm, when we left around 6:30pm, the place was nearly vacant. We did spend a bit of time admiring the dead animal decor - buck, buffalo and striped beast...a wildebeest? I have for a couple decades only ordered the garlic steak sandwich. This day, I went with fish and chips. Fantastic! Wonderfully breaded, perfectly cooked, tender, moist, and delicate in flavor. Long time customer. I have loved, loved, loved this place for years, but the last two times I visited, the food was just...not as good. I always get a 1/2 hot turkey plate and a small salad (monkey). Both times the plate was sort of sloppy, the gravy was thick and sort of grey. The turkey was a little dry. I'm only writing this review in the hopes that the kitchen will take notice and return to the level of care that Jamie had. If I'd never been there before these last visits, I probably wouldn't return. The vibe is still good. Walking into this hole-in-the-wall for the first time, you won't know what to expect, but once the door opens you can almost hear someone yelling "Norm!". Old school, neighborhood joint. This was on Guy Fieris show! So had to stop by this classic Irish Bar joint. They keep it old school here, which is a whole vibe. I love their clam chowder and Smokey prime rib. It's not the classic prime rib, this is the Smokey kind. I can finish it and it still doesn't feel too heavy in the stomach. Ask for their horse radish! The banh mi is also pretty authentic; shocking for an Irish restaurant. Love it! Def will be back! read more

Stopped by here during work hour rush as the inside was packed. Tried the garlic steak sandwich which came with fries. The steak was very very very dry and the bread had no dressing on it so I had to put ranch or whatever I could find because it was impossible to swallow it dry. The steaks didn't taste like filet mignon but more of a skirt steak. Besides the food, the customer service was great and the location had plenty of parking so it was convenient. update: I believe the cost of goods has impacted the amount of food provided at this local hangout. So what did we order: 1) Garlic steak sandwiches: meat was still tender and favorable. But the size of these sandwiches has diminished. From the size and type of buns to the amount of meat on each sandwich. sigh. Oh, the clam chowder was also still thick and favorable. 2) burger: this once mighty burger is no longer. Again, the taste and flavor has not faltered, but the size of this burger is definitely smaller. The fries were well seasoned. 3) club sandwich: still use "real" roasted turkey but the size of this once massive sandwich has also taken a dive. And where was the avocado? Sacramento is rich with many hidden gems and one of the best is without a doubt Jamie's on Broadway. I've lived here all my life and still have only been twice. Each time I'm reminded why they're regarded so highly. Not much to see from the outside one might think Jamie's is just a local watering hole. Although it might be that it is also home to a kitchen that can go toe to toe with the best of them. They're always introducing new menu items and testing out new flavors. Went with a buddy of mine and sat at the bar. It's dimly lit inside with very few windows. Bar tenders was in a great mood and some patrons nearby at the bar were going hard taking shots and carrying on. It was 4pm on a Thursday. I love it haha. Took a look at the menu and decided to try the pork belly sandwich. It was topped with a spicy slaw and some bacon. What else can a person ask for?! The sandwich was immaculate. I felt so many flavors and different textures in this sando. Also it was huge, despite that I couldn't stop eating and devoured the whole sandwich in one sitting. The sauce added more juiciness to everything going on. Jamie's thank you for always keeping it real, staying true to what works best for the regulars and also new patrons like me that know about this place but never visited before. Recently my friends and I had lunch at Jamie's, I had eaten there about four years prior and it was great. However this time the service was limited we waited quite a while before getting served. My Freind had to get there attention for some one to wait on us. The waitress was a somewhat pleasant but a bit snarly. We all ordered the same thing the filet migon garlic sandwich. The meat was well seasoned but was low grade beef, it had a toughness like muscle and quit chewy. Not what I had before and we were all greatly disappointed in the standard of beef. My Friend asked the waitress what type of beef it was it she stated filet but wasn't very pleasant about it. Upon leaving we again had to get the waitress attention to get the bill And we waited once again for quite a while. I have asked a different waitress what was the name of our waitress she replied Patty, which we found out later was a lie. The waitress I asked went over to the waitress thAt served us and then they both walked over the bartender said something about our table and then laughed and looked over several times at us . I myself in my younger years was a waitress and completely understand how tough working in a restaurant can be but at Jamie's restaurants that day the stardard of professionalism was obsolete. Years ago the place was fabulous , unfortunately that has changed. I would never again recommend this place as a great place to eat. read more

This place has been on my radar for several years now. I'm not in the area very often, so it just never happened until now. I had a "date night" that we planned to see the Van Gogh exhibit... and looking on the map for nearby restaurants - Jaime's popped up and I instantly recognized the name from a *old* episode of Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives... Season 6... 2009... wow! I haven't seen that episode recently - but walking in, it seemed pretty much like the Jaime's I remember Guy walking into. I remember Jaime showing Guy the smoker setup and knew I needed to get some smoked prime rib or tri tip or whatever was on the specials! I was happy to see prime rib available, so easy decision. My girlfriend quickly zeroed in on the open-faced turkey sandwich, which is another dish that Jamie's is well known for. The prime rib was simply fantastic... probably the best prime rib I've ever had (sorry, sis). It had a good amount of smoke flavor, but not overpowering... and unbelievably tender. Butter tender... cut with a fork tender. The horseradish sauce was just right as well. I tried a little of the au jus just to sample it... but I'm a more of a horseradish fan when it comes to prime rib. The turkey was great too - I got a big thumbs up (and cute wink) from the other side of the table. I might have been fed a bite or two as well. Turkey was juicy and tender, gravy was tasty, creamy and smooth. Our waitress was great - just the right balance to make sure we were taken care of without bugging us too much. I'll admit I was a little worried about getting to our event on time without reservations on a Friday night (they only take reservations for parties of 8 and over). The person taking my call for reservations assured us we'd be fine, and we were! It took us a while to try Jaime's for the first time, but now that we've experienced it, we'll definitely consider it as an option whenever we're in the area - especially if I'm in the mood for prime rib. read more

Came here for the brisket sandwich, based on the reviews. It was good, but based on the 5-star reviews, I was hoping it would be great, and it wasn't. The brisket was a bit dry and not particularly tender or smokey. The green salad I opted for as a side was about 4 bites worth of almost exclusively lettuce (came in the sauce bowl shown). There is not much good BBQ in Sacramento, so I was hoping this spot would be my new go-to for a tasty brisket treat, but at $22 (and $8.75 for a pint of ordinary IPA), coming close to $40 with tip, I doubt I'll be back. read more

Moved down the street and have always said I wanted to try. Finally got the time to go and I am so glad I did because it was so good I forgot to take a picture. The cup of chowder was so good! The cheeseburger 10/10; so fresh and juicy I INHALED it all when I usually only eat half of my burgers. The fries are pub fries cooked to crispy perfection and when dipped in ranch, 10/10. The Garlic steak sandwich was also very flavorful and the bread gave an added buttery flavor. The service was a bit slow but only because there are a lot of people. The restaurant is pretty small but enough seating to be seated right away. The parking can be a bit tricky because it's off the road but we were able to park across the street. Definitely see myself coming back often and trying to become a regular. read more

Ok we started off with the clam chowder and one of the things. Really like about it is that it isn't completely smooth. There are grits of potatoes and it's thick and creamy! Off to a good start!!! So we ordered the Chilean sea bass which was literally out of the world!!!! The bass was cooked perfectly!!! And the flavor!!!! Light and garlicky and paired perfectly with the rice pilaf. Was not a disappointment!! We also ordered the fish n chips which was fried cod beer battered fries and served with wat was most likely house are cocktail and tarter sauce! No joke couldn't find anything wrong with this dish!! Christe was our server she was polite super friendly and since this was my first time here I truly appreciated the service. I love Jamie's, been there many times and always happy with the food and service, until today that is. Ordered the classic filet mignon sandwich on garlic toast. One member of our party asked for her sandwich medium well done, yuck. I asked to verify how it's normally prepared, was told medium rare, which I what I wanted. I got mine well done, I protested, showed the server and she actually argued with me saying that it's medium rare, but agreed to have it re-cooked. When delivered it was well done, tough and grissly. She asked if I wanted it cooked a third time, no thanks. I ordered two bowls of clam chowder to go. Got my chowder, but it tastes like flour, not at all like times past. I hate to give such an iconic place such a terrible review but it is what it is. Think this is my last visit until whoever is cooking knows how to properly honor Jamie and his historic history in Sacramento. read more
