I absolutely love Janemark Winery & Vineyard it's truly one of the many hidden gems right in my backyard! While I've visited before for a wine tasting, this time I attended their "Tuscan Table" summer pairing dinner, and it was an incredible experience. The evening featured a four-course Italian meal each dish thoughtfully paired with wines from the vineyard. The courses included a fresh caprese salad paired with Vidal Blanc, arancini di riso paired with Rosé of Barbera, a chicken and shrimp pasta with a San Marzano vodka sauce paired with NV Aviation and finally tiramisu paired with NV Merlot. Every pairing felt intentional and elevated the overall dining experience. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect intimate, relaxed, and welcoming. We truly enjoyed the company of the other guests at our table, and by the end of the evening, it felt like we were all one big family sharing a meal together. I guess I can check this off my list! I didn't know we had all these hidden gems right in our own back yard. Met a friend here to catch up a bit...the way life has been life-ing lately, it was wayyyy over due for me! The sun was shining, great weather, awesome company & wine...all that was missing was some yummy treats! With eating outside you're able to bring your own food...definitely noted if I ever venture back here. They do offer some charcuterie and cheese options... My flight was tasty! A couple wines were a bit too sweet for me. Unfortunately they didn't have anything with bubbles...darn! but it was all good! The frozen red wine slushie was pretty good...I think they should offer this in a larger size lol The grounds were lovely and it wasn't busy at all. We really picked the perfect day to come. Wonderful Kickstart to mu birthday weekend! Met some friends at this hidden gem and got to try some good wine. First they hace a lovely indoor seating area which is great for winter group gathering and tasting. They allow you to bring outside food in addition to the Charcuterie options so you can be set for a good time. They were super nice and explained their menu and food options, so now for what I had: Started with a tasting flight. They offer several flights depending on your taste preference we went more sweet, as my friend wasnt fan of dry, and I was honestly looking for a mid range. Then the Wine slushy! Soo good, it was a Frose' this weekend light and fruity, and not super sweet! For snack I got the 2 cheese tray, I was expecting a small Lunchable size, they gave me a full experience! I got two blocks of cheese a tray of Spanish salami, olives, nuts, a raspberry jam and onion and chive crackers. So flavorful, definitely tasty and more than enough food for several friends. With the wine club you get 4 free wine tastings a year and you must purchase 4 bottles a quarter to stay active. In addition you get 10 percent off of everything. I truly enjoy their wines and once you become a member they make you feel like family knowing you by name and frequently sending recommendations. 2024-2025 Love a lot of the wines at janmark but that said instead of being a place where you can go and try different wines now it's turned in to more of a place where you buy an event ticket. That includes a few drinks. My friends and I like to go to different wineries try their wines and take bottles home with us. We're not interested in paying for an event when we've come to try wines. The group no longer wants to even try Jan marks so we hit Robin Hill, Port of Leonardtown and the lake instead. I had to celebrate National Drink Wine Day the right way, so I couldn't help but check out a winery that I hadn't been to yet. This is a part of the cluster of wineries located in the Upper Marlboro / Brandywine area. It's easy to spot, there is a sign on the main road. The parking is somewhat limited -- I'd say there are no more than 15 parking spaces before you have to go on the grass/mud. When I stepped inside, it was quite lovely! I think a lot of folks were hip to the national day, but it wasn't too crowded. I studied the menus, which included charcuterie, wines, sangrias and more! I can only speak on the wines, as I wasn't hungry haha. There was a $14 flight for 4 wines -- 2 red and 2 white (and 2 dry, 2 sweet). My favorite was easily the Viognier, which I first had in VA long ago... But it wasn't this good! The citrus flavors really stood out and I loved it. The other wines were good too, just not quite on that level for me. I got a glass of it after the flight and was quite satisfied. All the while, I was taking in the vibe of the place .. REALLY nice.. rustic, cozy, homey. And I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Janie, the owner of the winery! My friend enjoyed the winery as much as I did and there's no doubt that I'll be returning. What a great local winery; I can't wait to come back. I came here with a friend on Sunday afternoon around 2:00. We were greeted immediately by the hostess and offered a seat at a picnic table or the covered patio seats. We wanted to be within good earshot of the live musician so we sat in the covered patio section and began our visit. We always start with the wine flight to get a quick taste of the wines. This flight was $12 each and offered 7 wines to taste. They were all quite good but the Albarino and the Vidal Blanc really stood out to us. Typically, I like a nice semi sweet wine but even their drier Merlots and sweeter wines were good to me. I also like that they provide a wine glass to taste the wine ramekin portions -- most other wineries I've been to don't provide a glass until you buy a bottle (bonus points for Janemark here!) After trying the 7 wines, we ordered a bottle of the Albarino for $24ish to enjoy on the patio. While we drank we enjoyed the music of the live performer, John Cain, who played the guitar and sang. This along with the cheeriness of the other guests made for a great experience. We also ordered some delicious BBQ from the Smoke n the City food truck that was at the winery until 4:30 or so. We ordered the jerk wings and the pork brisket sandwich. Both were the perfect compliment to the wines we had. For awareness, they allow you to bring your own snacks or takeout to eat with your wine. Two items to be aware of: - I wish I could have seen the inside of the winery but there were renovations in progress. This also means we had to use port o' johns that were installed behind the winery - Beware of flies. I'm sure it's just a summer thing but I recommend some bug spray to help keep the flies away. Overall a great experience! I'm already talking to friends about planning my next visit. I love finding a hidden gem! Yesterday my friend and I were both looking for something low-key and not too far away from home. I looked at a couple places on Yelp and this one popped up on my search. We put it in the GPS and we were on our way. When we arrived the place looked pretty empty so we were unsure if they were open, but luckily they were open on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Despite the weather a few other patrons showed up and I was happy to see that. This is a family owned business that has been around for several years and they're continuing to expand. Had a chance to chat with one of the owners, Jane and one of their employees - I think her name is Liana. They were both very engaging and helpful. The winery/vineyard is open Friday through Sunday with live music and food trucks. Being that it's a holiday weekend, they'll be open on Monday. Follow their social media pages for up to date information. They are kid friendly! We did the wine flights and I ended up liking several, but among my faves were the "Vidal Blanc" and the "Ruffled Feathers." We ended up getting a bottle of the Ruffled Feathers," which honestly is one of the best roses I've ever had! Yesterday, we enjoyed live music by John Howard and food from the Smoke Stack's House of BBQ food truck (see review) during our first visit to Janemark Winery and Vineyard. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining and sipping, so we took full advantage. There are plenty of sweet, semi-sweet and dry wines to choose from, so I highly recommend selecting the wine flight option to help you narrow down your options. Also: The scenery is amazing! There are picnic tables available, but you also have the option of bringing your own lawn chairs and blankets. Small pets are also welcome. Reservations not accepted. I have made it my mission to visit all the wineries in this area. The wine in Janemark Winery & Vineyard is superior to the others I've had. We dropped by here because we were scheduled to do a carriage wine tour and thought we may as well check it out. The folks inside were extremely nice and friendly. The environment is very friendly, laid back, and non-pretentious. Even the other attendees were very nice and chatty. Janemark is definitely a must-visit in the area and their wines are top notch. My husband and I wanted to host a fall winery Saturday funday with our friends and this was the second stop on our tour. It was easy to contact the vineyard via email and coordinate our large group's visit. Our group wasn't too big so they were able to seat us indoor. We were there on a very busy day so we were elated that we still had a good size table and location to enjoy the live music as well as be able to access the food trucks easily. That day they had mulled wine as the seasonal favorite and a Bbq food truck! The wine flights we ordered were tasty, strong & generous pours. We got several rounds of the mulled wine and got the party started - full swing! We ordered from the truck funnel cake fries, brisket sandwiches, shrimp basket and pulled pork sandwiches which were ALL DELICIOUS! We ordered some bottles to go and toured the grounds and took pictures of their cute fall setup of pumpkins and haystacks. It was a really awesome time! read more

Went here last week with my two good friends, it was my 3rd time going here and it's crazy that it's less than 20mins from my house. They offer a curated selection of wine flights that are updated with new and interesting selections every 6 months or so. You can also pair your tasting with cheese, meats, and crackers which are affordable especially if you are with friends because it's definitely meant to share. Lastly, the service is wonderful we got there a bit late almost right before they closed (about 30-45 mins) and they were very speedy and nice about our impromptu party. We were able to relax and talk in this time as well and actually went over a little on the store hours. Other times when I was there the Vineyard was very big a great spot to take pictures, however this time it was on the smaller sampling side of things. All the reason to go back I guess!! read more

This is probably one of the best vineyards in Maryland. Most MD wineries that I have gone to are pretty poor when it comes to wine, especially red wine. This is one of the few places that the entire tasting list is quite good. The vibe and the wine remind me a lot of some of the smaller wineries I visited in Red river. As for the place itself, I recently reacquainted myself with this place after not going for a few years due to COVID and it is great to see how much they have grown. They expanded with seating, they have a lovely covered patio area, the live music was good, and all while maintaining great wine. The wines themselves especially the Viognier and Albariño are quite stellar. Out of their reds, I enjoyed the Barbera quite a bit. If you live in DC or MD and don't want to take the trek out to some of the better wineries in N. Virginia, Janemark is definitely worth it. read more

I have no complaints! My first visit was on Easter Sunday and I can't wait to go back. Super friendly staff - even had a chance to speak with Jane who not only greeted us when we arrived but continued to check on guest the entire time. This is one reason why I enjoy supporting local - the family atmosphere just can't be beat. The seats were nicely distanced away from other tables and masks were being worn. We did their tasting - which is nicely placed in plastic containers and served on a plate in the order of how you should sample. Since I am a sweet wine drinker the Ruffled Feathers won me over! I somehow didn't know this place existed, despite my parents living 10 minutes away. We came on Friday - they are currently open friday from 12pm onward, I would check the website for hours over yelp. Organized thoughts: COVID: 5 stars All outdoor seating for now, each table has it's own heater, is adequately spaced and they clean between customers. Wine tasting comes in labeled plastic cups - cutlery for our food was in sealed plastic. My dad has been very paranoid (rightfully) during the pandemic and felt safe here. Wine: 4 stars I generally hate local reds. And I love red wine! It's because most MD and VA reds are so acidic they are undrinkable to me. Not here! The cab franc, dare I say, is almost light bodied. I am sure some die hards to the grape variety would not like that, but i'm on board. I did the flight and while I didn't love every wine, all were decent and I really liked 2 enough to buy a bottle. A few of the wines were far too sweet for my taste, but that was just my personal taste. If i liked sweet wine, I would have liked them, they had nice flavor variety. Food: 3 stars They offer meat and cheese for purchase. I got the chorizo and a fricken delightful cheese, some creamy, dreamy, crusted peace of heaven. The charcuterie comes with a full box of crackers, a full jar of olives, some mustard and a small jar of jam. The owner said they have food trucks during good weather which I fully support. Service: 5 stars The owner responded immediately to my reservation inquiry - they were ready for us on arrival with a clean table - Jane was very friendly, shared some war stories of wine making - and the menu is covid friendly - Qcr scans. Nice location. But staff is rude. Be warned that they aren't friendly and a very pushy about their rules. One example, my husband quickly changed his mind from a flight to another drink and the lady was pissed and rolled her eyes at us. She had not even started preparing the flight yet. Also, my husband then ordered the flight and had to correct them on the flight he was served because it didn't follow their menu and what he thought he would get. At one point, the lady came out to the patio and yelled at us for being at another table that wasn't reserved for us. Totally get it, but she could have been nice about it. Be warned that they bus in tour groups and the lines are extremely long (to order, bathroom, etc.). They do not come to your table and serve you. The line to order is one long line. We had to bring our own food. Wouldn't waste your money on the wine either, in our opinion, it tastes like vinegar. read more

Visited this beautiful vineyard on a busy Saturday afternoon. This place gets packed in no time, so it's best to arrive early. We got lucky! Several people were leaving as we walked to the entrance. We waited a minimum of 10 minutes to be seated. Once seated, the waitress gave us two menu's; one for wine and one for the Aunt Titty's Food Truck they had on site. We both had a wine flight: 7 of their wines offered as a tasting. I absolutely loved the Ruffled Feathers and I promptly ordered a bottle! The waitress was extremely busy, but she eventually brought out our Rosé. JaneMark Ruffled Feathers IS the best Rosé that I've ever had. They offer live music on Saturday from 2-5. The Food Truck was nothing special. To be honest, the food truck is the reason my rating is 3 stars and not 4. Go have a cold drink and have a good time! Oh & bring your own food and water. Janemark is as no-frills a winery as you can get; the owners literally planted grape vines in the front yard of their home, and the 'tasting room' is a stand on their driveway. It reminds me of a lemonade stand, except selling wine! Janemark is a family run operation, designed to give the owners a hobby in their (hopefully coming soon) retirement. As I walked up to the wine tasting 'bar' I wasn't sure what to expect; everyone was friendly but this was the oddest setup of any winery I've seen recently (and I've seen a lot). But the good news was I enjoyed the wines more than other more established wineries. They even gave me bites of cheese to go with my tasting. What I tried: Vidal Blanc: Very nice, especially with my bite of cheese. Chambourcin: Soft Barberra: A hint of pepper but not overpowering. Bought a bottle. If you have kids, skip this place. Found this place while driving around Prince George County with our kids and some friends. It is very picturesque, so we decided to give it a try. Little did we know that the place is not kid friendly, which is made clear on their website - it did not occur to us that we had to check if an outdoor space is ok with kids. The owner and her staff were more interested in nagging us about our kids for minor things than asking if we needed anything. We ended up leaving. I really enjoyed my time today at the winery. I ended up buying several bottles of wine after being pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were. Most of the wines are made with grapes from the estate or nearby in Maryland. I enjoyed meeting the owners, one of whom grew up about a mile away. This is a great place to go if you are in the area for a hike or otherwise. They have a very good selection of charcuterie and snacks to buy (cheese, meats chips, etc.). The wine and atmosphere are good. It's quiet and never truly crowded. The service is decent for the most part. There is an older woman who works there who is very unpleasant to most people. On a day we went there was live music and the musician and older lady got I to a tiff about the volume. Neither one handed it well because they ended up yelling at each other in front of everyone. As I went to go up For a refill she made a comment about the musician was having mental health issues and was seemingly having a breakdown and wouldn't be performing there again. That comment/overshare on someone mental health without compassion was a bit off putting. On a different visit to the winery I asked if they had any events at the vineyard she tersely replied "yes. There's many coming soon" I said the website didn't have any listed and she replied "well If you followed our social media pages you'd know". She's generally very short and downright rude, when you order a tasting or glass she never looks at you, never greets you, and never tells you a thing about the wines. I understand if she knows little about the winemaking process but maybe the owners should teach their servers so their customers can have a better appreciation for the process. This is a nice winery but it isn't Napa, it's a far cry from Temecula, and definitely not Paradise Springs. What those locations have in common aside from great wine are the pleasant people at the winery who teach you about the wines, the process and are just overall pleasant. Went here today with two friends and it wasn't that bad to be only 30 Mins from the city! The wine flights, cheese and meats come served "boxed lunch style" which isn't what you expect from winery but it's priced $12 so I can't complain. The wine flight was a fun Table conversation piece. About as mom-and-pop as you can get, Janemark Winery & Vineyard offers a very interesting wine tasting experience with some pretty good wines to try. A roadside stand selling wine grown from someone's yard? Well okay sign me up at Janemark Winery & Vineyard. The owners are wine enthusiasts, growing all the grapes on their nine acres, with more than a few vines right in their front yard. The day we came they had a trailer that was bottling some of the wine (a fascinating automated process if you ever get the chance). The owners were out front hanging out with their neighbors who was helping them bottle, but was more than happy to have us sample the wines. The tasting included four wines and you get to keep the glass. Starting with the Vidal Blanc, a mostly dry white with mainly grapefruit flavors with that crispness that comes from stainless steel. Next out was the Chambourcin, a good bodied red with blackberry with flavors more of a table red. The Barbera was my favorite of the bunch, delivering a fuller bodied dark cherry flavors and oak. Last was their dessert wine the Sweet Heidi, made from Vidal Blanc grapes, it was tropical fruit sweet (I don't like sweet wines but others seemed to really enjoy). Overall, there's a lot to like at Janemark Winery, especially one so new to the local wine scene. You're unlikely to find another one quite like it and wines are pretty good. read more
