Wine flight (1877 was my favorite, hence why its gone ) Charcuterie Trays (2)

Wonderful Kickstart to mu birthday weekend! Met some friends at this hidden gem and got to try some good wine. First they hace a lovely indoor seating area which is great for winter group gathering and tasting. They allow you to bring outside food in addition to the Charcuterie options so you can be set for a good time. They were super nice and explained their menu and food options, so now for what I had: Started with a tasting flight. They offer several flights depending on your taste preference we went more sweet, as my friend wasnt fan of dry, and I was honestly looking for a mid range. Then the Wine slushy! Soo good, it was a Frose' this weekend light and fruity, and not super sweet! For snack I got the 2 cheese tray, I was expecting a small Lunchable size, they gave me a full experience! I got two blocks of cheese a tray of Spanish salami, olives, nuts, a raspberry jam and onion and chive crackers. So flavorful, definitely tasty and more than enough food for several friends. First tray Olives, mustard, nuts, cheddar and Duck breast (also very tasty hence gone )- saltwater crackers Second tray (mine) Olives, smoked gouda mustard, rasberry jam, fig jam, manchego, and Spanish salami -- onion chive crackers There will definitely be a return trip in the sping

Loved the wine and the building itself on the property here. Service was great as we came close to close. My husband I got two different flights so that we were able to try each wine. They definitely do better with the white wines in Maryland.

Katie and Katie B took good care of me and my girlfriend yesterday. I needed to close out my membership since it's the end of the year to start fresh for next. With the wine club you get 4 free wine tastings a year and you must purchase 4 bottles a quarter to stay active. In addition you get 10 percent off of everything. I truly enjoy their wines and once you become a member they make you feel like family knowing you by name and frequently sending recommendations. This place is cozy I found myself wrapped up in a blanket on the couch enjoying two of my favorite things: wine and cheese.

We tried the dry varietals only and they did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly! They offer a build your own charcuterie board; perfect for snacking!

I had to celebrate National Drink Wine Day the right way, so I couldn't help but check out a winery that I hadn't been to yet. This is a part of the cluster of wineries located in the Upper Marlboro / Brandywine area. It's easy to spot, there is a sign on the main road. The parking is somewhat limited -- I'd say there are no more than 15 parking spaces before you have to go on the grass/mud. When I stepped inside, it was quite lovely! I think a lot of folks were hip to the national day, but it wasn't too crowded. I studied the menus, which included charcuterie, wines, sangrias and more! I can only speak on the wines, as I wasn't hungry haha. There was a $14 flight for 4 wines -- 2 red and 2 white (and 2 dry, 2 sweet). My favorite was easily the Viognier, which I first had in VA long ago... But it wasn't this good! The citrus flavors really stood out and I loved it. The other wines were good too, just not quite on that level for me. I got a glass of it after the flight and was quite satisfied. All the while, I was taking in the vibe of the place .. REALLY nice.. rustic, cozy, homey. And I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Janie, the owner of the winery! My friend enjoyed the winery as much as I did and there's no doubt that I'll be returning. I just need to decide which charcuterie options I'll go for first -- I could be greedy and do them all! TBD...

I love love love love love wine ! And this place is sooooo fabulous and cute! Been here soooo many times. The service gets better and better every time I come. The owners Ms Jane and Mr Mark are soooo awesome. I felt like I had the whole tasting room to myself today. I did the option 2 white wine and rose flight. Of course I came home with a bottle lol. Would not be if I didn't lol. If you are ever in the Brandywine area stop by for a flight or two or three and a slushy.

I love finding a hidden gem! Yesterday my friend and I were both looking for something low-key and not too far away from home. I looked at a couple places on Yelp and this one popped up on my search. We put it in the GPS and we were on our way. When we arrived the place looked pretty empty so we were unsure if they were open, but luckily they were open on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Despite the weather a few other patrons showed up and I was happy to see that. This is a family owned business that has been around for several years and they're continuing to expand. Had a chance to chat with one of the owners, Jane and one of their employees - I think her name is Liana. They were both very engaging and helpful. The winery/vineyard is open Friday through Sunday with live music and food trucks. Being that it's a holiday weekend, they'll be open on Monday. Follow their social media pages for up to date information. They are kid friendly! We did the wine flights and I ended up liking several, but among my faves were the "Vidal Blanc" and the "Ruffled Feathers." We ended up getting a bottle of the Ruffled Feathers," which honestly is one of the best roses I've ever had! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a local winery that produces their own wine right in their own backyard.

Yesterday, we enjoyed live music by John Howard and food from the Smoke Stack's House of BBQ food truck (see review) during our first visit to Janemark Winery and Vineyard. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining and sipping, so we took full advantage. There are plenty of sweet, semi-sweet and dry wines to choose from, so I highly recommend selecting the wine flight option to help you narrow down your options. Also: The scenery is amazing! There are picnic tables available, but you also have the option of bringing your own lawn chairs and blankets. Small pets are also welcome. Reservations not accepted. Seating is on a "first come first served" basis. The winery is open Friday-Sunday. Check the website and social media pages for details and updates. Wine slushies. Wine flights. I have made it my mission to visit all the wineries in this area. The wine in Janemark Winery & Vineyard is superior to the others I've had. We dropped by here because we were scheduled to do a carriage wine tour and thought we may as well check it out. The folks inside were extremely nice and friendly. The environment is very friendly, laid back, and non-pretentious. Even the other attendees were very nice and chatty. Janemark is definitely a must-visit in the area and their wines are top notch. This is definitely one of my favorite places to visit now.

Spent the afternoon, wine tasting with the spouse and daughter. We have lived in this area and never stopped by until today. Clearly, we have been missing out, Jane (Yes, the Jane is here and will bring familiarity to unfamiliar thoughts of wine ) gave us the background story and introduced us to their wines herself. Live music and great wine, if you find yourself this side of town this is a must stop.

Went here last week with my two good friends, it was my 3rd time going here and it's crazy that it's less than 20mins from my house. They offer a curated selection of wine flights that are updated with new and interesting selections every 6 months or so. You can also pair your tasting with cheese, meats, and crackers which are affordable especially if you are with friends because it's definitely meant to share. Lastly, the service is wonderful we got there a bit late almost right before they closed (about 30-45 mins) and they were very speedy and nice about our impromptu party. We were able to relax and talk in this time as well and actually went over a little on the store hours. Other times when I was there the Vineyard was very big a great spot to take pictures, however this time it was on the smaller sampling side of things. All the reason to go back I guess!!

My husband and I wanted to host a fall winery Saturday funday with our friends and this was the second stop on our tour. It was easy to contact the vineyard via email and coordinate our large group's visit. Our group wasn't too big so they were able to seat us indoor. We were there on a very busy day so we were elated that we still had a good size table and location to enjoy the live music as well as be able to access the food trucks easily. That day they had mulled wine as the seasonal favorite and a Bbq food truck! The wine flights we ordered were tasty, strong & generous pours. We got several rounds of the mulled wine and got the party started - full swing! We ordered from the truck funnel cake fries, brisket sandwiches, shrimp basket and pulled pork sandwiches which were ALL DELICIOUS! We ordered some bottles to go and toured the grounds and took pictures of their cute fall setup of pumpkins and haystacks. It was a really awesome time!

We hadn't heard of it before, but thanks to the magic of social media, we discovered it and decided to check it out. The space itself is charming and cozy, with neat art on the walls and a great vibe overall. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, but unfortunately, she didn't explain how things worked which led to some confusion. Ordering happens at the counter, then you seat yourself, and later return to the counter to pay. We figured this out ourselves, but a quick orientation would've helped. There were no explanations of the wines, no mention of available food, and we only discovered the charcuterie and samosas by walking around. Even then, the signage was unclear, and the staff didn't offer guidance. Things went further downhill when a large Meetup group (20+ people) arrived shortly after us. The staff was clearly was unprepared. Service slowed to a crawl, and while they did call in backup, it felt like chaos behind the counter. Flights were delivered piecemeal and with some confusion, and at one point, a staff member accidentally knocked over a tray of wine being carried by another. That said, the wines ranged from good to very good and the pours are far more generous than we expected. I had asked about the samosas, and after a vague back-and-forth, was told they'd bring it over. They didn't. Every time someone made eye contact with me, they'd vaguely say "the samosa" without confirming what I ordered (they never asked how many, and only my wife wanted one). By the time we were ready to leave, the place had become far too loud and chaotic, and I didn't even finish my flight. We bought a bottle to go, and again, they mentioned the samosa; at which point I just told them to skip it. This place has potential; it's a cute spot and could be great with better organization and communication. Maybe it runs smoother when there's a smaller crowd. But based on this visit, I'm not likely to return.

(2 out of 5 stars)…read more This is a difficult review to write because the Sonoma Cellar used to be one of my favorite spots in Old Town Alexandria. I was aware the ownership had changed some time ago, but this was my first opportunity to return and see how things had kind of evolved. The good news is that they are pet friendly, which allowed us to bring our puppy, Chewie. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The service was painfully, excruciatingly slow. The staff members were polite though, and genuinely trying to help, but they simply appeared unprepared. When we asked for recommendations or information related to the wines, we received very little guidance. One gentleman eventually admitted that he was just filling in and didn't really know the wines at all. Understandable, but not the experience I was going for. The water bottle for the table served to us was room temperature, which felt odd, especially on a hot day while sitting outdoors. The wine tasting was a major disappointment compared to what Sonoma Cellar used to offer, and the overall wine selection appeared to me at least, noticeably smaller than I remembered. I was also disappointed to discover that Sonoma Cellar has adopted the increasingly common practice of adding a 3% credit card surcharge. I didn't notice any clear disclosure beforehand, and these types of fees always leave a bad impression. I know I'm a bit picky with those, but still. The establishment was likely dealing with staffing issues on the day we visited, but the overall experience felt like a shadow of what this place used to be. What used to be one of my favorite wine stops in Old Town has clearly diminished in both service and selection. We left disappointed and, sadly, don't expect to return. Chewie agreed.

Instead, we were repeatedly approached about reserving a table in the glass house with a $600 minimum spend. We declined because we simply wanted to enjoy wine like we have at many other wineries. One of the most surprising things was their policy requiring reservations for groups of eight or more. In my opinion, that's unusual for a winery. I've visited many wineries throughout Maryland and Virginia, and I've never encountered a policy like this. As soon as our group reached eight people, it felt like staff were watching us constantly. We couldn't even socialize with other guests without being approached by staff, who questioned whether we knew them and repeatedly reminded us that our group had reached the limit of eight people. We felt singled out and closely monitored throughout our visit. The constant attention made what should have been a relaxing afternoon feel stressful and uncomfortable, so our group made the decision to leave. To make matters worse, after we left I received an email from the owner accusing me of disrupting operations, harming their business, violating their policies, and demanding that I remove references to the winery from my event listing. I strongly disagree with those accusations and found the tone of the email to be unnecessarily hostile, especially since our group chose to leave rather than continue our visit. In my opinion, this establishment feels much more like a lounge or private event venue than a traditional winery. If you're looking for the welcoming, laid-back experience that most wineries provide, I would recommend visiting one of the many other wineries in the area instead.
