I wrote this in 2015 but completely forgot to post it. Chefs like Tony Hohlfeld are few and far in between, somebody you'd expect to find in a bustling culinary city like Berlin. Which is why it was such a surprise to find that he decided to set up such a jewel of a restaurant in the most forgotten of corners in Hannover. In a tree structure right out of Middle Earth where, as it was divulged to me by several foodie friends, many a restaurant venture died, Jante has boldly set up a scandi styled establishment serving food experiences. Bordering on Michelin star territory (which we now know they are worthy of!!!!) each creation is playfully and skillfully crafted to tantalize taste buds as well as the other senses. We had a "tzatziki" dessert that was such a delicious surprise because it tasted so good: cold yogurt sorbet with cucumber chips and sweet pickled cubes of cold fresh cucumber over a sweet raisin puree.
