Risa, the shopkeeper, is very pleasant to deal with. I love her. When I buy a lot, it's easy to make her throw in something for free or to give me a discount. Other shops are landscapers. We don't have a big garden, but if you do, they have trees and even koi for ponds.

The staff guy was super chill, gave me quick tips on watering and sunlight without making me feel dumb, and even threw in a free tiny bag of soil mix. We recently got married, and it was a great loss to us. One of their deliver men stole my wifes ring. We had left that morning to bring my parents to the airport so she had left it in our room on the night stand, only to come back after 1.5 hours to find it missing. There was only 2 people at home at the time, and neither of them would steal it. The only people in the room at the time was the delivery men, and I know one of them took it. To have Our Home to tell us that they have not have an issue with them, and to side with their delivery person is bullshit. They probably have NEVER had a almost 2 carot ring staring them in the face. I've experienced Filipinos who have stolen much less, and were supposed God fearing people. Sorry, bullshit. They stole it, and they know it! It doesn't just walk and grow 2 feet in 1.5 hours. FUCK YOU OUR HOME!

Our architect was more than willing to help us out in purchasing what we need. He suggested that we go to his "Suki" store and ended up here. For me, I wanted to go somewhere where I go buy everything at a very reasonable price. Plus, we were recommended to go here because our architect has a membership card! 5% off is still a good discount! The warehouse is fairly small compared to the ones in Pasig. But, the selection they have are the reliable brands that come with a good price tag. However, they didn't have some brands that I wanted to buy. A bit inconvenient but I plan to just go to the main branch for other items. The one thing I didn't like was that, when we needed help, it took quite awhile for any staff to help us. Only when they noticed that we were buying in bulk that they started to eagerly help out. When their staff did start helping us, they provided useful, informed, and practical advise on which product to buy. In the end, we bought 3 sets of toilets and sinks, 2 sets of showers, my kitchen sink and other fixtures! After adding it all up with the 5% discount, we were ready to pay. Then, the manager approached us and offered that we pay Cash on Delivery. Whut?! That is unheard of but, of course, we accepted! This shopping trip really got me excited for the next few weeks! :D

How convenient. Apart from that, they also have a lot of brands that you can choose from. I found my doorknob and I was on my way, after paying of course. Due to my lack of a personal garden, I decided to pursue bonsai, and it only took a few months before I realized that I couldn't just dig up random trees from our back yard and put them into pots. After learning more about species suited to bonsai, I had to search for a source in the Philippines. My googling eventually led me to visit an area of UP I didn't know about, where I was immediately amazed by the number of bonsai material there. Perhaps most telling is the availability of bantigue, scientific name pemphis acidula, considered one of the holy grails of bonsai. The plant has a very rough and crackled bark and angular growth patterns, allowing it to create very dramatic scenes. They also have a wealth of different indigenous species, and there's always something new available. Anyone interested in the art of potted plants should make this place a priority visit.

Hit up Dapitan Arcade on a random Saturday morning last month looking for some cute plates to…read morespruce up my dinner parties, and holy crap, I walked out like a kid in a candy store. The place is this chaotic maze of stalls bursting with everything--gorgeous ceramic plates in patterns you won't find in malls, stacks of mason jars for peanuts (grabbed a bunch at like ₱40 each), quirky little gnomes, funky lighting, and even those trendy gold-rimmed teacups that make instant coffee feel fancy. Prices are stupidly low, so my ₱800 budget turned into three full bags of treasures I didn't even know I needed. Haggling was half the fun--smiled, asked nicely, and knocked off a good chunk every time. Yeah, it's hot, a bit crowded, and smells like the wet market next door, but that's part of the charm. Left feeling like I scored big and already planning my next trip for Christmas lights. Absolute treasure hunt heaven. 5 stars, no contest.

Situated along Dapitan St. and Kanlaon St., the arcade is a collection of small stalls and kiosks that sells glassware, murals, ceramic plates, lighting fixtures, decorations, and a multitude of home furnishings at very affordable prices. There are some stuff here that will make you say, "hmm.. I don't really need this thing but it's cute and inexpensive, might as well get it." By the time you leave, you'll have two hands worth of shopping bags. I frequent Dapitan Arcade whenever I need ceramic and wood plates, mason jars and other glasses, and other things that I might need for my cooking and plating. They have a lot of plate designs that are not available elsewhere. When I use them for plating my dishes, it makesmy food feel more sosyal, meaning I can charge more haha. The very trendy mason jars are available here. The normal size ones go for around P50.00. They sell per piece and by bulk. The latter will always get you an ever better price. As early as September, the arcade takes on a more festive look because they start selling Christmas decorations and lights. You want to have a miniature Santa Clause swinging from a light post? Or a robotic St. Nick jiggling his merry booty to some Christmas tunes? Well, they got 'em. And a whole lot of other fun stuff too! When you visit, make sure to bring your "kapal" face so you can ask for discounts. Take away: unusual finds and good deals. Your P1000 pesos will go a long way here!

There are stores there that you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else, and one day you'll just be walking along, getting lost in Shoppesville and you chance upon a dollar store, and you think nothing of it, until you go in and have your life changed. A dollar store in America is much like the Daiso and Saizen here, except of course a dollar is cheaper than th P66 or P88 you shell out for an item in these stores. While similar in concept, the stuff here isn't exactly ridiculous low-priced, just that they're American imports. A lot of them are stuff you'd easily get here in the country, of course, but you'd come upon a few that are more hard to find, and one of those are STARBURST CANDIES! I love Starburst. They were my friend when I was in the US riding the subway or getting lost and feeling like a complete foreigner. I sometimes have dreams about Starburst. And I was over the freaking moon that the store carried them in a bunch of different varieties, so I snatched one up (I regret not buying more) and had it rung up at the register. They have other things too, like curiously cheap trail mixes, cereal, dog accessories, shampoos, cosmetics, detergent, and so much more stuff. But I'll only come back here for the Starburst.
