The prices are competitive and the quality is budget to above average. There are a lot of salads and fresh bread to choose from along with pre-sliced cheeses and meats so it is a good place to stop by for food on the go. If you need gluten-free or sugar-free items, there is a very small section of it next to the personal care aisle. Not a big beer selection and very little is chilled but they have plenty of red wine. When I came here it was a few minutes after opening so I had to dodge a lot of crates and employees restocking the shelves. Unfortunately they don't seem to accept any non-Dutch credit/debit cards but they do have ATMs for you to use. Bring cash and avoid visiting right at opening.

If you need to do big shopping in the center (or if you want to spend less) go to the big Albert Heijn behind the palace on Dam square (Nieuwe Zijdsvoorburgwal). It's just 3 minutes walking. Having said this all, this Albert Heijn to go DOES have a sushi bar. Fresh sushi is being prepared in the middle of the busy center. Whereas I would never recommend to eat anywhere on Damrak (packed with low quality tourist traps) this sushibar is an exception. The sushi is really good and the price as well.
